Azazel Xaphan
The Last Hound
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Azazel is always seen donned in his black Wolfsbane armor though he wears a variant that's far less bulky, allowing him to slim down his silhouette for his solo-operations. Not a single inch of his skin is open to protect against biological contaminants. His face is constantly covered by a gas mask capable of filtering out most contaminants and when activating its many functions. For many, the last thing they ever saw was two baleful red eyes burning in the dark.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Azazel Xaphan is incredibly fatalistic, expecting every assignment to be his last. While he wishes for death to join his brother and sisters alongside Apophis, he is aware that his God's Prophet, Warmaster Sachiel, requires him on this mortal plain so he desperately fights to survive each mission he is sent on if it does not compromise the objective. As a result, he has a dark and frankly terrible sense of humor.
To say that Xaphan is emotionally stunted... is to put it lightly. His only parents were the Drill Sergeants of the Pact. He has never known comfort and luxury nor love or affection. Only warfare.
In terms of his religious beliefs, Xaphan embraces the nihilist ideology of the Pact. Like them he is disillusioned with the current state of the Galaxy, the Pact believes that only a total reset can bring about any salvation. He hopes that through his diety Apophis, the Pact can spread enough chaos across the Galaxy She will materialize into real space and cause the self-destruction of every Force Nexus in the Galaxy. The resulting chain reaction will cause an implosion of the universe that will allow Apophis to start over with a clean slate.
Xaphan holds a deep respect for the Mandalorians despite the fact they were responsible for slaying the last of his comrades during the battle of Ma'ar Shaddam and in certain ways attempts to emulate them. He reasons that if they were strong enough to defeat his Wolf Pack, then it was because their culture was superior and the only way to serve his prophet would be to combine his culture with theirs. It is for this reason that he wields a Beskad and Mandalorian vambraces, taken from the corpse of a Commando whom he slew with a sledgehammer.
ABILITIES
As a former Death Brigadier with over a decade of combat experience under his belt, Xaphan is well-versed in the methods of war. He can use virtually any ranged weapon with great skill and is an expert when it comes to explosives due to his role as the demolitionist in his Wolf Pack. A result of his Wolfsbane augmentation and latent force abilities, he is considered by his opponents to be unnaturally fast able to seemingly become a blur for short periods of time. His speed is only compounded by the strength his Wolfsbane enables him, able to easily shunt aside speeders like they were toys and crush skulls with a single hand. However he rarely uses his raw strength due to the power draw it requires and instead relies on his skills.
His hand-to-hand technique is an amalgamation of 17 different martial arts systems to get as close to the opponent as possible to negate any melee weapon they may have while attempting to use their own weight against them to bring them crashing down to the floor. He can prove quite deadly with a knife and blaster pistol in close quarters.
While Xaphan is not fully aware of it, he is on some level force force-sensitive. He is unable to "feel" it on a day-to-day basis and instead receives seemingly random intuitions that guide him on the right path or warn him of fatal danger which he believes is the result of his God speaking directly to him. His strength and speed are also somewhat augmented by the force, allowing him to pull off acrobatic feats despite the weight of his armor.
HISTORY
Xaphan was a Death Brigadier, the elite shock troopers of the Pact of Apophis chosen from only those who had proven themselves time and time again on the battlefield. Xaphan's claim to fame came during an 82nd Voidborne Division's raid against a Confederacy of Independent Systems outpost. It had largely become abandoned following the Clone Wars nearly eight hundred years ago and forgotten to the annals of history. But what such have just been regular technology recovery and scrapping operations quickly went to hell when the outpost's massive reserves of battle droids were accidentally activated and began attacking the intruders. He was the sole survivor of his platoon as it was wiped out and the rest of the division surrounded inside the outpost. They would have been massacred if not for Xaphan single-handly blasting his way through nearly a hundred droids that stood in his way to the command room where he managed to deactivate the entire army before his Division was wiped out.
For this great feat, the Warmaster Himself awarded Xaphan the highest honor in the Pact of Apophis and invited him to join His elite Death Brigades. Xaphan was inducted into a wolf pack, a group of fifty other Death Brigadiers in training that he would eat, sleep, and rest. Together they survived three years of harrowing training and formed a kinship deeper than blood. In the next decade of nonstop warfare, kinship would constantly be tested again and again but over time, the wolf-pack would slowly be whittled down with each battle they were thrown into, unable to accept any new recruits. They would fight until every last one of them was wiped out.
It was at the battle of Ma'ar Shaddam where they were broken. By this point there were only a dozen of them left. In order to cover the Pact of Apophis withdrawal from the disastrous campaign they were thrown into the fire against a company of Mandalorian Commandos. The fighting devolved into hand-to-hand combat. One by one he had to watch his brother and sisters fall under a tide of beskar. But with blaster and fist they slowly beat back the onslaught at a terrible cost. By the time the battle was over Xaphan was once more the only survivor.
Lone wolves are not uncommon in the Pact. They are regarded with great respect for their service but they are not granted retirement. Instead, they are sent on suicidal missions where they hope they can truly honor their wolf pack by dying a glorious death. Xaphan was sent on one of these missions but survived. He was sent on another yet survived once more. Again and again, he would be sent on increasingly impossible missions yet return alive and victorious.
The Warmaster himself took a special interest in this Death Brigadier that Death refused to accept, christening the former Death Brigadier as The Last Hound and making Xaphan one of his personal agents. His new mission was to now act as the Pact's eyes and ears in the Galaxy, gathering intelligence on the various factions while sabotaging them from the inside.
