STRENGTHS
  • Resistance: The Wolfsbane is capable of shrugging off even heavy blaster and kinetic fire from the front. Even the conventional weak points in the joints, gorgets, and eyepieces require repeated shots by high-powered weapons to have a hope of penetrating. The only proven weapon capable of penetrating the Wolfsbane from the front is direct strikes from anti-vehicle emplacements and cannons.

  • Strength and Speed: the Exosuit built into the Wolfsbane gives the wearer both strength and deceptively fast speed. Many of the Chaos Pact's enemies are often stunned by how agile wearers of the Wolfsbane are, often able to cover a hundred meters in less than ten seconds during a brief burst of speed and striking with the force of a hovertrain. Enhancing their impressive physical prowess, a Death Brigadier can easily shunt aside speeders like they were toys and crush skulls with a single hand.

  • Unlimited Ammunition: on account of the massive power pack that the Wolfsbane can equip, it provides virtually bottomless ammo reserves for the user if they are using energy weapons. The only limit then is how much their weapon can fire before their barrel melts down.
WEAKNESSES
  • Rear: A severe weakness of the Wolfsbane is the rear plating which even a low-powered blaster pistol can penetrate and is barely enough to prevent shrapnel from explosions. This is both as a compromise due to the armor's already high weight and for a cultural reason. A Death Brigadier will never turn his back on the enemy or leave a brother's rear exposed willingly. With their training and discipline, they will always cover each other's back during combat with their bodies.

  • Detonation: While the Ammunition Backpack is heavily reinforced, if several high-power shots impact it there is a risk of it becoming compromised which will result in a large detonation. It is considered generally unhealthy to experience an explosion with the force of a thermal detonator on your back.

  • Weight: The armor's high weight prevents the Wolfsbane from being used in difficult terrain such as swamps and muddy fields.

  • Disruptors: When facing disruptor weaponry an interesting effect occurs. While disruptors do not penetrate the armor they cause a unique chemical reaction with the composite material upon repeat impacts that culminate in the plating rapidly heating up until it begins to melt into the skin of the user, causing a rather painful death.
DESCRIPTION

The origin of Wolfsbane on Herodor is not exactly clear. Evidence points towards it being developed by the planet's armed forces before the world's collapse during the Hyperspace Storms but at the same time mythology has linked its creations to famous post-collapse warsmiths. Perhaps it had been merely a prototype made long before memory but one truth will forever echo through the annals of history, it was the Warmaster who perfected it. Near the end of his conquest of Herodor, he began to exploit the vast industries he had captured to mass manufacture this armor only to find the resources required for this endeavor... prohibitive for his grand vision.

Instead, he decided to give his blessings to the newly formed Death Brigades (fresh from their victory at Mount Etna) to don the Wolfsbane. It quickly became their signature and symbol of terror that struck into the hearts of their foes. To see the humanoid in front of you effortlessly wade through firepower that would have slagged a speeder to molten metal is... demoralizing, to say the least.
