Speed: The Ayngavhaul class Frigate relies on its speed to keep up with the smaller Starfighters it is often fielded against. This also aids in keeping these Frigates out of range and reach of the heavier vessels during a fleet engagement; permitting them to slip around and between larger Cruisers and Star Destroyers with ease.
She Can't Take Much More Captain: While these vessels are agile, they are lightly armored - designed more to keep up with enemy starfighters and bombers than to be standing toe to toe against heavier vessels. Even in larger numbers, these vessels would be easily wiped aside if sent directly at a vessel such as a Heavy Cruiser or Star Destroyer without any kind of additional aid.
Sleek and fast, the Ayngavhaul class Frigate is designed to fill in the much needed role as an Anti-Starfighter Frigate to ensure that the larger and slower moving Hellknight vessels aren't overtaken by swarms of Starfighters. Because of this they are lightly armored; their defenses more than enough to deal with a heavily armed Starfighter or Bomber, they can easily be taken down with a few direct hits from a larger or more heavily armed Cruiser. Thus they are often deployed alongside larger vessels or sent out in larger groups to support heavier vessels and screen against Starfighter assaults.
These vessels can also often be seen patrolling systems alongside the Hamatula class Cruiser as an added defense to the otherwise vulnerable vessel.
