SPECIAL FEATURES
  • High-accuracy human mimic: gait tuning based on model and role, pressure-plate spoofing for weight, thermal/signature taming for scanners, and simulated pulse, breathing, respiration, and scent for human interaction.
  • On-site credential-making tools: Echo-ID spoof within Corporate Compact policy limits; document printer with microfilm patches for standardized ID checks.
  • Counter-surveillance: RF Mask electromagnetic emission control for blinding sensors to droid detection, activateable lens ghost shaders to blur camera visuals, and anti-drone and droid proximity alerts.
  • HRD strength bolstered by myomer compounds, metal tends to be hard to grapple, and if it's grappling you, it can cause some serious pain.
  • Rapid-disguise kit anchors. Given privacy and ten minutes, hair, iris, skin and tone shift within its templated design.
  • Limited deflector shield emitter for initial contact, projected to the size required, good to absorb a hit or two when projected.

STRENGTHS
  • Humanoid design: Allowing full use of humanoid armor, tools, and weapons. A sizable advantage, coming with all the associated weight and speed costs.
  • Sturdy bodyguard chassis. Hard to bring down, with multiple system redundancies such as sensors, motor functions, and backup emergency power systems. Hard to grapple and painful to be grappled by.
  • Plausibly Human: voice and face mimicry, quick document forging, discreet comms channel, can stand watch, pass checks, and blend with staff or VIP entourages. Can brawl, disarm, and extract without revealing its nature unless heavily scanned.

WEAKNESSES
  • EMP/Ion vulnerability is typical of droids; ion buffers exist for limited resistance to ion attacks, making it better than some.
  • Weight anomalies under precise mass or magnetic scans; close contact by force sensitives may detect the mask despite clever mimicry.
  • Anti-scan foils are limited against dedicated military sensors; it takes time, but one can be detected. Of course, if you pierce the skin far enough, you'll see them a mile away.

DESCRIPTION

Codename: Echomimic
Division: Echosec Directorate: Code Red R&D - Synthetic Intelligence Division
Project Manager: Uriel-U1
Lead Designer: Fjoran Nayus

How the Underangel Forge Ring around Echelon Prime came into being is something of an engineering myth. Whispers speak of a long-forgotten, moon-sized forge ship and vast construction platforms that once blotted out the sun, blending into rumor and legend. Hidden beneath the files, details of HRDs designed by an elusive 'angel' company were long ago deleted by corporate data-dredgers, erasing every trace. Why Nayus Engineering guards it with both orbital weapon platforms and a private security army is more easily answered: the HRDs produced there. A vital product in Echelon's cultural fusion of biology and machine, giving Echosec, or just Corpsec, a hidden tool so useful that a few individual AXS-3s can tip the balance of power in a city or situation without even revealing themselves till its too late.

Production is officially overseen by Nayus Engineering, but unofficially, the schematics fall under Apex Industrial supervision. In truth, it is a Corporate Compact project, one of the rare examples of what can be achieved when the Compact's megacorps cooperate rather than rip each other down; even Fire For Effect's colorful weapon technicians were briefly involved, asking for a supply of custom copies of the unit, something the Tann's and Uos may come to regret.

The AXS-3 is a corporate-grade HRD designed to vanish into the background of Echelon Prime's durachrome streetways and Undernet nodes, fitting the digital duality experienced in daily life. Built to stand posts, shadow VIPs, sit silently in crowded rooms awaiting the signal, and pass random checks, it embodies subtlety. While durability is a founding principle, the AXS-3 emphasizes being plausible over brute force. Its synthskin emits heat and a scent profile, while its gait matches its occupational or model mimic; its voice and facial simulations let it move easily into a factory shift rotation or an event entourage, working a job, chatting in a crowd, and guarding or hunting a target.

While capable of wielding standard humanoid weapons and armor when operating overtly, in combat, the AXS-3 often relies on fast, quiet tools: contact stunners, concealed hold-out blasters, and subdermal garrotes to neutralize threats without revealing its nature. It resists common hazards well enough to protect clients, but dedicated anti-droid measures can still compromise it if sustained.

The redundant secondary power systems, sensor matrix, and motor function allow for often surprising reboots or continued operation despite suffering a critical hit; the AXS-3 can function at reduced effectiveness despite losing limbs or its primary power source.

Deployed throughout corporate districts across Echelon Prime and beyond, AXS-3 units are also seen in the Violet Portway and dense megacities such as Neo Echelon, Kynaron, or Crosswire Twelve, even offworld on Denon. Wherever an Echosec response is too slow and/or the target too valuable, the AXS-3 stands in the shadows, waiting.

Rumour persists that somewhere in the dataflow, a signal still pings the ancient Archangel servers, awaiting the dawn of the Age of Steel once more.
