Morellia. In recent years, the planet and it's sector became the home for a large pirate organization that had been raiding Imperial shipping lanes frequently. Even back under the control of The New Order, the sector still suffered from these merciless raids. The time for action against these pirates had come. Grand Admiral Darke had been assigned to deal with this threat to the Imperial economy once and for all by striking at the pirate's asteroid base to force them out of the system.

Star-Destroyer-Concept.jpg

By the time he'd arrived with a small fleet of Star Destroyers, the pirates had already prepared for their arrival, dispatching their fighters and bombers to assault his forces just as they came out of lightspeed. ''Battle stations! Fire turbolasers, have all fighters manned and out to meet them immediately!'', Darke shouted from his command chair. The battle had begun.

Juthan sat half asleep at the controls of his freighter as it sat in the hanger of one of the Star destroyers, eyes closed and focused on the back of his lids while he thought over the last few months. He had reemerged, the galaxy still in war and the Corsairs disbanded, hell all that remained now was the simple fact that things were going to become very very loud. With a quick jolt the ship came out and every one was in action, everyone except for Juthan who took a good time to starting up his ship as he worked the engines. "Time for some fun." He smiled as slowly the ship came to life and roared in his ears, it felt good to fly once more.

A small, light TIE Fighter slowly lifted off from the cold surface of the Imperial Star Destroyer, as it turned to face the opening of the hangar. It moved like a blur, as it entered the empty vacuum of space. It sped towards to a small fleet of miscellaneous ships, some from the Republic, some from the Hutt Cartel. Sokrai, the pilot of this ship, looked down at her scanners. A group of bulkier ships had just lifted off from the enemy hangar, and was now flying towards two small freighters. She pressed a couple of buttons, and was wired into the pilots of the freighters and Admiral Darkes's communication feed. " Reporting in, a squadron of heavy bombers have took off, heading towards freighters, permission to engage?" She reported coldly.

Darke recieved her communication, and responded quickly. ''Fire at will. Leave no pirate alive!'', he said confidently, ordering the officer in charge of weapons targeting to focus fire on the pirate carriers, to hopefully cut off their supply of starfighter reinforcements.

Juthan smiled as his own ship shot from the Ascendancy hanger and moved it to spiral out and head for the other ships. Those on his ship were all former Maw Consortium soldiers who had stayed on as his full time allies and copilots. He though found himself where he felt most at home, piloting the ship as it moved among the other ascendancy ships.

His hands brought him into the other fighters and without a single halt his top and bottom gunners fired off at the heavy bombers and his own hands pressed the fire controls of the fixed directional laser cannons that streamed out towards the enemy in controlled bursts. Juthan made sure to keep his ship in close to the bombers without outrunning them, though that wasn't exactly hard and only so when the bombers went in for a quick pass by on the traders.

His eyes shot over the surfaces as a few of the bombers attempted to fire back on him, his gunners turning to fire at them as he moved his ship into a dip and letting it turn to get clear of the trade ships so that he had a clear avenue of flight. That was the only limitation for him in this ship was the maneuverability, but it certainly made up for that with its ability to fire off from near all angels in the hands of an experienced and good pilot.

Sokrai grinned, as she began darting in and out of the corridors of space. A group of small, Huttese fighters had moved in to protect the bombers, as Sokrai moved in quickly. She harshly slammed onto the fire trigger, as 2 of the enemy fighters quickly blew up. One of the fighters flew above her, when a low rumble rocked the back of the ship. A small notice appeared on the ship-status screen, showing damage to the loading bay. Sokrai frowned, as she began tailing the 5 bombers, though with the fighter on her tail. " Get em' off me!" She told the comm.

"Fine but i think that you owe me dinner for this." Juthan pulled his ship back in between and waited for the right time as [member="Sokrai Ronaro"] moved to get out of the way and follow the bombers before his own ship unleashed a torrent of blaster fire on the fighter, moving to dodge debris as it came back with the turrets shredding the thing to pieces. Pushing his ship's engines to the max he pulled in close to Sokrai's fighter and turned so that the bottom gunner could fire at the bomber's as Juthan peeled off. Taking out one and its engines before Juthan was clear of the tight spaces once more. "You're welcome miss."

Sokrai grimly smiled, as she quickly blasted down 2 bombers that were about to drop their payload. " Now I don't owe you anything." She said sarcastically, as she began flying over to a small pirate Corvette. Turrets quickly spun around and began firing at her, which she quickly matched with her own fire. Sokrai nimbly dodged the wave of flying debris , as she flew into the hangar. " Requesting to board."

''You may proceed, mi'lady.'', the Grand Admiral said a bit more calmly this time. The Pirates had lost their advantage of surprise at this point, several of their smaller vessels being obliterated by the superior Imperial firepower raining down upon them.

The small ship door opened, as a crowd of pirates gathered at the front, all of their blasters aimed at the open doorway. A lone purple blade suddenly shot to life, as Sokrai jumped out and quickly butchered 12 pirates, by doing a simple circular sweep. Suddenly, it was hectic chaos as blaster fire rained everywhere, pirates were being shot down by other pirates, as Sokrai rapidly struck them all down. Just in a matter of a minute, the whole entire crowd was decimated. She quickly made her way to the upper floors of the deck, slicing down officers and tech-control members. As she just turned around the corner, a Durasteel door slammed shut, preventing her from entering the cockpit. Sokrai furiously stabbed the door with her saber, and slowly made a circle. She kicked the door over, as she sprung in. All of the men in the cockpit, including the pilot, lay dead. She turned the ship around, and began firing at the Pirates, which were now firing in all directions, due to the confusion of being fired on by one of your own vessels.

Despite what the link says otherwise, the Attrition-class Star Destroyer, known to it's Commander and crew as the Obscurity, was the property of a Sith Lord known as Darth Vazela. Perhaps the Factory Judges of the time ignored said writers pleas for it to be transferred to the Lords of the Fringe, despite agreements being made with the owner of the realm known as Star Wars: Chaos, but alas, that is for another time. The beginning of a legacy unfolds...

Artist impression of what the Obscurity looks like.

In the time of the Sith Empire, which was subsequently destroyed by Sith incompetence, Jedi heresy and Mandalorian revenge long after it's creation, lived a Sith Lord by the name of Darth Vazela. During the reign of one Tyrin Ardik, Vazela was the Lord of Sector III, which was one of three sectors that the Dark Lord of the Sith decided to split his Empire into, in which three Sith Lords would govern and control all worlds in their particular sector. It was the Dac system that laid in Vazela's sector and it was the Mon Calamari and their legendary shipyards that had constructed the Attrition-class Star Destroyer dubbed: the Obscurity. Perhaps it was sheer bad luck or the Force itself, but a then Mand'alor by the name of [member="Mia Monroe"] had led an attack on the Dac system as the Obscurity was being constructed. Thwarted by Vazela and a dozen other Sith, including a then younger Sith Knight Tyrin Ardik, Monroe withdrew from Dac defeated, but left one of a few Star Destroyers in the galaxy capable of cloaking intact. What a weapon. What a mind who had been responsible for it's design and creation. Unluckiness on the Mandalorians part.

Towards the end of Vazela's time as a Sith Lord, an invitation had been sent by [member="Ashin Varanin"], one time Sith Empress Decimus and creator of the Fringe Confederacy. Agreements were made between the Sith Lord and Dark Jedi, from which he would become a "Lord of the Fringe" and the Obscurity would be transferred to the control of the Fringe Confederate, on the basis that if summoned, Vazela and his vessel would serve the Fringe. In return, the Star Destroyer was effectively his to use, having free access to Fringe systems and to do as he pleased.

And that was how the Obscurity fell under Malus Bligh's control. Despite the disappearance of Vazela, the agreements between the Obscurity, it's crew and it's Commander were still intact. Ashin (or Decimus to the crew) had stopped the latter in slaughtering the crew and in return for her mercy, Bligh and his crew felt obligated to assist the Fringe in it's time of need. But currently, the Obscurity was his to do with and with whispers of the Sith slowly reconstructing their Empire, Bligh's first loyalties to the Sith first and Fringe second.

It was time for him to come back to service.

The Obscurity dropped out of hyperspace in the Morellia system. Malus, who found himself in the command seat center to the bridge of the Star Destroyer, began to issue orders to his officers. "Engage our Annihilator generators. Begin sweep of the entire system. Issue orders to our barracks for all security teams and pilots to head to their stations and designated craft. Track all in and out going transmissions. We'll soon ascertain who is the enemy."

Sokrai watched in awe as the massive star destroyer jumped out of hyperspace and entered into the fray of the chaotic battle. She quickly swung her wrist comm up to her mouth, and began speaking into the Ascendancy feed. " To whomever the pilot of the capital ship is, please radio in your call-sign and current status." Sokrai told the gadget, as she continued firing at the pirates frigates.

Malus averted his gaze from the helmsmen to the communication officer asking for him. Listening to the man intently, Malus nodded his head and replied, "Patch me in." When communication was established between the Obscurity and the Sith Acolyte who had hailed it, the Commander said. "The question is, who am I talking to?"

Sokrai slightly frowned when he didn't recognize her, but he shook it off when she realized she didn't recognize who the Admiral was either. " This is Sith Acolyte Sokrai Ronaro, and may I ask who you are? " She stated calmly, as she then made an announcement to all of the fleet members of the Ascendancy. " To all member of the Ascendancy, I am requesting that we set up a live holographic feed for our members and for easier communication."

Malus nodded his head. An mere Acolyte, student in other words to those privy to knowing what a Sith Acolyte was. He replied, "I see. My name is Malus Bligh, Commander of the Obscurity." As he said those words, right before the Acolyte, the Chiss forces and the Pirates they were exchanging fire with, the Obscurity cloaked, it's Annihilator-class generators engaging. He continued. "I am ally of the Chiss. I have ventured to this system because I am told of an New Order. If the Sith Empire intends to rebuild, then I and my crew belong to your cause."

He turned his gaze towards the helmsmen. "Set course for the nearest enemy ship."
"Yes sir," replied the officer, laying in a course for the nearest Pirate ship.

She nodded, as she began directing fire at a large capital ship. It released a swarm of fighter squadrons, which she eyed nervously. She once again turned on the comm, and began speaking into it. " Requesting that you release your fighters." Sokrai told the comm, as she began firing into the horde of nimble fighters and starships.

The Grand Admiral patched into their communications upon noticing the arrival of The Obscurity, with a smile on his face. ''Good to see you, Captain Bligh. Converge with the fleet, we've got these pirate scum on the run now!'', he said, before patching in to the rest of the fleet. ''Prepare bomber divisions, target the pirate's asteroid base. I want it blown apart...'', he said, before transmitting a short briefing of the current situation with this pirate cartel to The Obscurity. ''This group have been targeting our shipping lanes for weeks. It's time we put a stop to it.''

"Deploy fighters to flank Ronaro's ship as a screen. That should hold back their small craft. ETA until arrival over enemy ship?" asked Malus, turning to the bridge once more.
"We've just arrived," replied the helmsmen. "Ship is holding steady. The enemy has not made any movements to suggest they have located us."
Turning his attention to the communications officer, Malus said. "Inform control to begin deployment of our MAATs and Gunships on the enemy ship. Boarding parties are authorized for lethal force."
"Yes sir," replied the officer.

Malus averted his gaze back to the front of the ship. As he did so, deployment of Taral and Dominus-class strarfighters began to appear out of no where on the enemy scanners and opened fire on the Pirate force below the Obscurity. This was timed with conjunction of the MAAT and Pandorum-class Gunships that soon followed. Raiding parties began to board the enemy flagship. It was one of Bligh's old tactics. He liked to bring the fight to the enemy when they least expected it; and ships were most vulnerable with an enemy force on board it.

"Decloak off their stern bowl, destroy their engines with our ion cannons. Such damage can be repaired later, if it is the intention of the New Order to salvage the vessel." Appearing behind the enemy ship, the Obscurity opened fire with it's ion cannons. The resulting plasma energy would fry their circuits, making impulse and hyperspace travel impossible. Dead in the water with an army of boarders with hostile intentions. Malus smiled in satisfaction of his work.

Sokrai watched as a couple squadrons flew in onto her flanks, as she began firing once more on the pirate ships. Fighters began quickly darting in onto her frigate, but they were distracted by violent and chaotic dogfights with the fighters sent to protect her. A couple of large bombs rocked the ship, but no big damage was done, just a couple of turrets missing. The real damage was with the fighters, which although they obliterated the pirates, only half of their original numbers remained, the rest blowing up in a fiery death.

Zaruan Nuruodo's Imperial Star Destroyer dropped out of hyperspace, and it's turbolasers didn't fire. Not even his starfighters were deployed when the first ordered he issued was open the channels. "I am Mitz'arua'nuruodo. Former Captain of the Fel Imperium." He let that sink in for a few moments. As well as to let htem adjust to the guttural sound of the Chiss's voice when he spoke Basic. "Orders." Were his only words after his previous message.
