Description:

As Aurora Industries started to grow larger and larger, it became clear to Taeli that developing more internal and specialized ship components might be necessary. To that end, she greenlit her design teams to begin develop of various new systems, along with upgrades to systems the company owned. One of the new ideas that floated across her desk was the AV-X03 "Nova" Scatter Turbolaser, something she became interested in and allowed further development to continue.

Using the same idea behind a scattergun, but on a larger scale, the Nova Scatter Turbolaser utilizes several beam splitter within its internal components to split the initial particle beam into six different streams. Once split, each stream is fed through energized Tibanna gas, as normally found in turbolaser mechanics, before the beams are sent through to the modified galven coils. The coils are modified to allow each stream to keep the same energy as a normal turbolaser shot, and when the weapon fires, it creates a scatter effect of six energy shots that are designed to impact on multiple points on an enemy's shields or hull.

The Nova Scatter Turbolaser does have a few drawbacks that it shares with its much smaller cousin. The shots it produces, while the same strength as a normal turbolaser, only have half the range of a standard turbolaser so a ship needs to be up close in a slugging match for them to be effective. The Nova Scatter Turbolaser also has a slightly lower fire rate than standard turbolasers and does have a higher danger of overheating in prolonged usage.

The Nova Scatter Turbolaser counts as six normal turbolasers to a ship's weapon count
