SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Distinctive golden colour from major Aurodium ingredient
  • Self repairing, the laminanium constituent causes the metal to heal minor flaws and damage over time when exposed to heat or low level radiation. This is a slow process and cannot replace lost material. Specifically to the restricted Aurodenium-R alloy, a side effect is that the material almost always has a gloss finish as the material will naturally smooth out any flaws on the surface which might otherwise give it a matt finish.
  • It is a very dense material approximately twice as dense as durasteel
  • The material is relatively malleable and ductile due to its crystal structure giving a wide range of applications
  • The metal conducts heat and electricity readily spreading the energy over its entire structure. This makes it useful for thermally sensitive applications as hot spots do not form and the metal rapidly cools.
STRENGTHS
  • Energy Resistance - The Material is very resistant to energy damage, with the Amnen variant being extemely so. The crystal structure of the metal causes incoming energy to spread and diffuse through the metal and can even encourage the self healing effect from the laminanium. This of course has its limits and it will eventually bw overwhelmed by high enough energy levels, otherwise it would be impossie to weld or forge.
  • Limited self repair - The Laminanium gives the material a limited form of self repair, healing stress fracture, flaws in the metal and other minor damage. This does not grow new material so significant damage cannot be repaired in this way. This process is accelerated in the presence of energetic particles such as radiation or heat.
  • Lustre - Aurodenium does not typically tarnish when exposed to most standard atmospheres, holding its surface well. Aurodenium-R will also naturally smooth itself to a near mirrored finish
WEAKNESSES
  • Dense metal - The material is quite dense and its weight for a given amount of material is quite high. This means the weight has to be considered for items that might need to be worn or carried.
  • Softness - The alloy is softer than a lot of similar materials which can lead to deformation under strong direct impact
  • Difficult to work with - Due to the energy resistance properties, the metal requires specialist equipment to weld or forge which can make repairs in an unequipped situation difficult.
DESCRIPTION
Aurodium is a prized metal and the House Amnen mines are sat on large deposits of it. Many years ago, alloying experiments created Aurodenium, which took the beauty and indulgent nature of Aurdonium and improved its physical properties to make it what it is today.

It is a symbol of wealth that is often displayed by Amnen nobles, particularly the heads of the parts of the family that own the mining rights. It can be used as armour, and its energy resistance properties can reduce the reliance on Ray shields, however, it must be used with care as it is heavy and its malleability, valuable in certain applications, makes it prone to deforming under pressure if not properly layered or supported by other more rigid materials.

Royal Aurodenium, the highest quality alloy created after years of experimentation is usually reserved for House Members and its exact manufacturing process is a closely guarded secret.
