ADVANCED SYSTEMS

"Arcade Perfect" Aurek Strikefighter design, allowing it to serve well in a variety of roles

Hard hitting laser weapons and Proton Torpedoes allow it to punch above its weight

Easily manufactured, fielded, refueled, and modified as the basis for other starfighter subs

Ubiquitous design means it can be found potentially anywhere

STRENGTHS
  • Strikefighter: Its hard hitting Laser Cannons and Proton Torpedoes allow it to serve equally well in dogfights, or assaulting stationary targets such as vehicles, small bases, and weapon emplacements, allowing it to fight above its weight class
  • Classic: It's design is shamelessly stolen and copied everywhere in the Galaxy, and its simple controls allow even a novice to understand it quickly (True mastery, however, will take time)
  • Modularity: Every single part can be modified to ones liking (Anything more than aesthetic, color changes will require a new sub)
WEAKNESSES
  • Outdated: Its electronics are generally outdated, leading to them being potentially easily jammed
  • Weak Defense: It's hull allows it to survive one hit. It's shields allow it to survive an extra hit
  • Fire Rate: Its heavy laser cannons have a slower fire rate than most modern designs, and more agile fighters or even plain off the shelf models can easily evade if if they are smart.
DESCRIPTION

The venerable Aurek Strikefighter is potentially the single longest serving starfighter model made by any faction in Galactic History. It served as the Galactic Republic's main snub fighter from the most ancient of times in the Jedi Civil War to the very end of the Clone Wars. Despite the official end of production by Republic Fleet Systems millenia earlier, the sheer level of proliferation the design experienced, with stores of clone war era surplus still turning up even today mean that fringe systems and minor factions and navies continue to make use of them when absolutely nothing more expensive can be afforded, yet the design is so trusty many often wonder if yet another revival of the ancient design by some ambitious faction is not somewhere on the horizon...and many more wonder how such a useful design was ever discontinued to begin with.

Truly ancient examples of this fighter, such as dating back from the Jedi Civil War, are extremely rare and are often miraculous, against the odds finds. It is sometimes possible to encounter working examples in abandoned clone war era military bases or space stations. Most common working examples still in good condition date back no older than the Gulag Plague, where the economic crisis created by the disease, led to credit strapped governments turning to the old design in emergencies. Due to the simplicity of its design, production is virtually impossible to disrupt without complete destruction of all facilities capable of vehicular maintainance and construction, and its inexpensive parts mean that even very poor navies can maintain the ability to fight without breaking the pocketbook.

This starfighter in the modern era is a popular training vehicle and clubs of enthusiasts for the craft maintain a vigorous, active membership, and even many veteran pilots on the outer rim will swear by them.

Excellent as a starting sub for beginner pilot characters, as well as the basis for unique subs
