- Certain Aural Dispersion Charms are capable of hiding the entire wearer 'in plain sight' so long as they do not overtly interact with those that surround them. Naturally, such elaborate trickery is easier to expose than subtler deceptions. Most, however, are designed to do little more than hide traces of Dark Side corruption from Force Sensitives or strange mutations from the eyes of 'the man on the street'.
- Aural Dispersion Charms function better against beings that rely on intuition than the coldly analytical.
- In Plain Sight: Aural Dispersion Charms conceal one or more of the wearer's characteristics, dispersing external traces or gently hiding them in the corners of a beholder's perception; insignificant little details that only the most vigilant of observers have any hope of noticing.
- Heavy Lies: The more notable or fundamental the characteristics an ADC attempts to hide, the easier it is to expose; hiding a bit of corruption or an ugly birthmark is beyond easy, but allowing a Dark Lord of the Sith to traipse through a Jedi Temple is another matter entirely.
- Absences: Aural Dispersion Charms exclusively hide information, they cannot produce illusions or the like.
- Forceful: Aural Dispersion Charms cease to function if cut off from the Force.
Concealment and misdirection have ever been a core teaching of the Shadows, their kind more prone to unseen observation and the quiet whispers of a nameless manipulator than the grand struggle between Jedi and Sith, Light and Dark. The Aural Deflection Charms provided the Sithspawn of the Sanctorium reflect this disposition perfectly, being handcrafted by the Weavers to conceal socially undesirable characteristics.
While the lexically-focused might attribute it sound-muffling abilities, its name is a misnomer - it does nothing but distort and diffuse perception.
