Kaili Talith
Forgotten, not gone.
One hard gulp was enough for the pill to go down. Kaili’s teeth gritted, her eyes shut in protest as her guts did everything it could to resist the antibiotics that trickled its way down her throat. An errant cough parted her lips. Medicine still tasted the same; horrible. It was the downsides to getting shot in the shoulder with a crossbow, or getting shot in general. The first few moments were over easy, it was the nasty infection that came with it that was the hard part. The binds around the girl’s shoulder and upper arm brought her some small measure of comfort. Something they had called a shoulder spica at the Academy. The bandages hugged her skin like a slightly-too-tight tunic. Parts of white poked out from underneath the arm of her shirt, the only real visual proof of something bad having actually happened.
And to say Kaili had been growing restless was an understatement, but she needed to rest. Her doctor was very strict on that one. To Kaili that meant two things: the shop, and the couch. The old one had long since been discarded and replaced by a new one. A stylish yet amazingly soft couch with place for not just two people, but three. Because leg space was always appreciated. The textile surface poofed up and hissed as the girl collapsed on top of the cushions that caused her back to cry out in joy. Kaili’s bandaged arm remained limp by her side as the other moved a hand up to cover her forehead. Eyes closed in tired resignation as the fatigue of the day slowly crept up on her.
All things considered it wasn’t an easy task to manage a shop by yourself when you only had one arm at your disposal. Perhaps Kaili owed it to herself to hire another employee. The thought had struck her, but the idea as to whether or not she could afford it still struck her increasingly frugal mind. Without a doubt she could, but it was the idea of having to pay someone else to do work that bothered her. Especially if said work wasn’t going to live up to the Kaili Talith standard, which was a standard that had been set pretty damn high at this point. People expected the best and got no less, that was how her store worked.
She shrugged the thought away as she dozed off for the second time this afternoon. A soft snore spread throughout the apartment. Allyson had said she would be back home soon. Kaili had time to rest before then.
