The AD-IV or Atha is a compact deflector shield designed by Novean Technologies to help counter the threat of Fighters assaulting vulnerable Point Defense turrets and other Hardpoints at close range. While it remains ineffective against Capital Ship guns and sustained artillery bombardment the AD-IV offers a substantial improvement to outer defences, improving the durability of exposed systems.

- Compact - AD-IV is roughly 8m in length with a 2m diameter making it fairly compact as far as traditional deflector shields.
- Modularity - The Deflector Shield can be equipped for most medium~large sized vehicles and Capital Ships.
- Insulated - Due to being mounted externally Silicon Carbide and Ferro-ceramic is used to protecting components from radiation and heat respectively.
- Reinforcement - Two or more AD-IV can be combined to further reinforce their shield strength.
- Quick Charge - AD-IV after collapsing will recharge after 10 minutes.
- Guardian System - AD-IV serves primarily to protect Vehicles and Capital Ship Hardpoints from Starfighters and other light artillery. It can be used as an add-on to help protect Point Defense or exposed sub-systems.
- Weak - The Deflector Shield can only sustain several high powered laser cannon shots, or similar ground heavy weapons before collapsing. It is ineffective against Capital Ship weaponry.
- Exposed - ED-IV must usually be mounted on the Hull of Vehicles or turrets it is protecting, leaving itself exposed to enemy fire. Note that the shield also covers itself.
- Overload - High powered Ion and EMP weaponry is highly effective against the AD-IV, disabling it after a single hit.
