Walking myth, warning label, and mild HR violation

The venue is set.

The decorations are arranged.

Everything is in place and the few guests that are here for this are filing in.

This is not a ceremony for everyone, but a private moment of celebration for those who are “family”. Not all families are bound by blood, and not all families will be here, that is why there will be Naboo. That is a conversation for later. Right now, the focus is on the intimacy of the moment. The gathering is small, but the significance is immense for those present. The atmosphere is filled with warmth, shared memories, and a sense of belonging that transcends traditional definitions of family. This is a time to honor connections that matter most.

Connel stood at the altar beside his best man Bren Alazar (Michael of Omega Squad), his heart hammering against his ribs. This was not from fear. Nor was it even from anticipation.

This was from the weight of the moment.

For years he had measured his life in missions, deployments, investigations, battles, and responsibilities. One problem solved only revealed another waiting beyond it. There was always another crisis. Another call. Another reason to postpone the things he wanted in favor of the things he believed he owed.

Yet somehow, despite everything, he had arrived here.

This was not because he had earned it. Nor was it because fate had decided to reward him. It was quite simply because life had continued forward. It was because somewhere along the way he had met a woman who refused to leave. It was because of a dog who had stubbornly carved a permanent place for himself in his home.

A family he never expected to have.

… and eventually, almost without realizing it, he had stopped looking over his shoulder for the next battle long enough to see what was standing in front of him.Today there was no mission. No enemy. No crisis to solve. No mask to wear. Just No codename.

Just Connel.

For most people that would not have seemed remarkable.

For him it was a miracle.

Mother as well as Alyksandra Angellus, his cousin? It’s a long story about the family history, anyway they were being walked in by Michael Angellus, one of his groomsmen. Mother walked up to him and kissed him on the cheek, checking him over, telling Connel how his father would be SO proud of him right now.

Connel allowed himself to fussed over as he beamed, telling her that he knew, and missed Caltin every day, but he was here in spirit and would always be. Then she could not help herself and took a napkin to her eyes and dabbed the tears, kissing him on the cheek one more time, and then sat back down.

The next few minutes were a bit nerve wracking for Connel, he was blown away by the amount of people there on his side, let alone altogether. The string quartet began to play the wedding party walking in and taking their places, Cartri Keswoll walking a Bride’s maid, Michael Angellus another.

This was it. She was coming.

This is just a private ceremony for those who live or visit Midvinter alot

The invitation had been something nice and after being there to witness the proposal she had a leg up over the others. She had arrived without much flourish and remained there in the area breathing in as her body steadied. The pure white kimono robe cut in the style of formal robe. The fabric is thick materia, bleached to an even matte finish with no sheen. Silver trim runs along the outer edge of the collar and the cuffs of the wide sleeves, but the thread is fine and barely visible except up close. There are no embroidery, no patterns, no additional layers beneath. The robe closes at her left hip with a simple cloth tie, also white.

The length reaches past her ankles, pooling slightly at the hem, though the fabric never touches the ground because she hovers. Her feet are bare. The soles face downward, toes relaxed, but they remain a few inches above the surface of the floor or snow or stone whatever lies beneath her. Her hair is dark, nearly black, and extends down past her ankles. It is contained by a Tsunakokushi hood made of the same white linen as the robe. The hood sits on her head like a small boxy cap, folded in crisp angular lines, with a short curtain that hangs down the back of her neck to cover the upper portion of her hair. The rest spills out below the hood, straight and heavy, swaying slightly as she moves forward.

Her face is pale, almost without color. Her eyes are black no visible iris, no visible pupil, just two dark voids set into the white of her face. She does not blink often. She glides forward through the space. There is no sound from her movement. No footfall, no fabric rustle, no breath noise. Her body remains upright and still, arms loose at her sides, sleeves hanging straight. The only motion is the slow drift of her hair and the shift of the robe's folds as she passes through the air. She does not push off the ground or walk. She simply moves forward at a steady, unhurried pace. The guests at the wedding see her coming and step aside. No one speaks to her. No one touches her. She passes through the crowd like a fixed point in a moving current.

The jedi master was looking at it though and offered a small smile to herself when she glided through the snow to go and see the small and private ceremony.

An ancient yet pristine T-65J X-wing fighter landed at the spaceport near the location of the ceremony, and its pilot disembarked, grabbing a case from the small cargo compartment. He took a few moments to change out of his flight suit and into his formal Jedi robes, resplendent in white with cobalt blue tabards and obi.

Jedi Master Malcolm Ironmaster made his way to the venue and took his seat on the groom's side of the sanctuary.

Braze chose to wear a formal understated simple set of robes fit enough to be formal wear. He brought Loomi Loomi with him as his guest and settled on the grooms side of the guests politely watching the ceremony to unfold. He was happy to see that Connel Vanagor Connel Vanagor was taking a new step in his life and moving forwards. Despite their differences and Braze's typical knack of avoiding jedi knighting ceremonies and other such events he was in fact... present to this event wanting to bear witness to this joyous occasion.

"Connel cleans up nice huh?" Braze asked on a soft quiet tone to Loomi Loomi

"Connel cleans up nice huh?"

"I think anyone could clean up well with enough effort," Loomi stated.

She didn't know Connel as well as Braze did, she imagined. That was okay though. She was happy to be here to support, even if she was a bit disconnected from it all.

"I've never really been to any wedding before," she noted, glancing about at all the fanfare with her good eye. "It sure seems intricate..."

Connel stood there quietly, as everyone turned their heads to look to the back of the church. Lira was walking down the aisle in the arm of her father Qurian. The dress was simple, elegant, and beautiful, she was radiant. Connel was speechless, he could not take his eyes off of her, which made her smile that much brighter.

As she reached him, her father pulled back her veil, kissed her on the cheek and then whispered something in her ear before placing her hand in Connel’s.

Maybe it was the moment, maybe it was the way she looked, how the light caught her eyes JUST right, or maybe it was all of the above, but Connel was changed. He was not the same man who lived a life of soul crushing responsibility, the man who had been forced to grow up too fast, burdened by self imposed expectations and the weight of a legacy he never asked for.

He was Connel Vanagor, a warrior, a survivor, a Jedi Knight even if he did not feel worthy of the title most times. Mostly, he was a man finally moving beyond his past and stepping into a future with the woman he allowed himself to love.

As she stood before him, eyes filled with love and anticipation, Lira reached up and gently touched his face, her fingers lingering on his cheek as his eyes never left hers. The moment stretched, suspending time itself until the officiant cleared his throat, bringing them back to the present. Connel took a deep breath, feeling the weight of it all, and actually was enjoying it, feeling the warmth of Lira’s hand in his. He looked at her, really looked at her as the officiant began to speak and knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that this was where he was meant to be. With her.
Forever.

He almost missed it. Something he and Alazar were planning with the rest of the groomsmen. A surprise moment of fun to break the tension. As the officiant reached the halfway point in the ceremony, asking if anyone had any objections, Connel, Bren, Michael Angellus, and all of the groomsmen turned around, reaching for imaginary weapons that were not there and gave those gathered their best playful glare as if challenging anyone to object.

Braze gently wrapped his hand with Loomi's, lacing their fingers together idly as he watched the ceremony.

"Mnnn hmnn… they are nice unions, huh?" he murmured softly. "Different cultures tend to have all kinds of symbolic gestures baked into events like these."

His gaze drifted over the gathering, taking in the pageantry, the old words, the way every movement seemed to carry some quiet thread of meaning.

"Chandrila for example... has a lot of old customs around marriage. Things that make the whole affair less about two people standing alone, and more about two families, two histories, being tied together before everyone who matters."

His thumb brushed lightly over her knuckles.

"It's pretty," he added after a moment. "A little heavy, maybe… but pretty.... fortunately this one seems pretty much set on the joining of two hearts. "

"Chandrila for example... has a lot of old customs around marriage. Things that make the whole affair less about two people standing alone, and more about two families, two histories, being tied together before everyone who matters."

That did sound rather... intense. Loomi, for most of her life, didn't have a family by blood. She only just now was interacting with her Mother. With the destruction of Ord Providence's dome cities the society's cast was in shambles. The clergy had been forced to break their ritual isolation in order to survive. It gave her the time she needed to reconnect with her mother, though they still had a bit of a distant relationship.

Maybe that was to be expected. They had lived separate lives without each other. She never got to know the expectations of a family or culture. Perhaps that was for the best.

Loomi was glad that this event seemed mutual. No expectations, only care between two people. That was far nicer sounding than the joining of two houses for cultural reasons.

"It... seems like a big commitment," the Godoan murmured to herself as she watched the ceremony proceed to objections. None seemed to arise.

The others who were arriving made it quite the collection and the sight to behold. Finding a place that she could be as the ceremony was beginning the jedi master allowed her hands to clasp in front of her. She had been treated to meeting Lira and she had been one of the better ones she met... and she spoke for Connel so she wondered if there was going to be vows... her doing both parts of the vows would be funny. Unless Connel that figured how to make a long lasting, full set of vows be within just five words... AN impressive feat that is he would be able to it she would have to maybe admit he didn't need entire conversations or sentences to get his point across. Though she did wish Hanna Ike Hanna Ike had been able to join.
