SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Repulsors and maneuvering jets allow limited aerial combat, as traditional for a Basilisk.
  • High-powered vibrogenerator/utility claws
  • Standard walker controls (unusual for a basilisk)
Strengths:
  • Basilisk: Air/ground/vacuum flexibility
  • Basilisk: Tough hull
  • Basilisk: Limited self-piloting capability (reduced from standard Basilisk)
  • Basilisk: Lethal at close range
  • AT-PT: Good mobility
  • AT-PT: Much more walker than droid; standard walker controls offer improved command detail compared to 'go fetch, boy'
Weaknesses:
  • Basilisk: Biomimicked design less optimal for aerial combat (i.e. if the enemy is below or behind you, there's not much you can do in the moment)
  • Basilisk: Low deployment numbers (low sq count and production level)
  • Basilisk: Less repair/replacement capability (low sq count and production level)
  • Vulnerable repulsor/jet vanes
  • No standard- or long-range weapons
  • Vulnerable long-range sensor cluster (dorsal)
Description:
The AT-B is a fairly straightforward attempt to mate the features of a traditional Basilisk war droid with a more modern walker such as an AT-PT or AT-ST. The result is a small vehicle that can do immense damage at close range but struggles to match normal walkers in their standard mission profiles. That's because, unlike most Basilisks, the AT-B wasn't designed to butcher armies and civilians.

The AT-B's favorite prey is other Basilisks.

The traditional hull-breach shockwave generators have gone omnidirectional, allowing the AT-B to repel or wreck a sneak attack from another Basilisk or a war mount. Its four utility claws, comparable to the standard claws of a Basilisk, contain high-powered vibrogenerators to shear through weak points and pry off armor plates. Large repulsor/jet vanes allow the AT-B to engage in aerial combat with standard Basilisks, cross distances quickly...and lure enemies close with the promise of an easy hit. By the time an enemy Basilisk has ripped off a vane or two, the AT-B has generally put its huge vibroclaws to work.

It's absolutely vital to note that the AT-B moves like a walker or a Basilisk, not a person. Likewise, its pilot uses a standard walker control panel rather than biofeedback equipment. This is a walker with Basilisk claws, or a Basilisk that can fight on its back legs, nothing more.

Quite the fun crossbreed between two great weapon systems. Extreme lethality at short ranges, lacking at range and equally weak in regards to critical subsystems.

Nicely done.

Awesome. Pending Secondary Approval. Thanks! [member="Jamie Pyne"]
