No, I don't mind at all. There's a reason people like me don't mind sharing our secrets. It isn't as easy as it sounds. It takes a certain character and mindset to take every step necessary to succeed where so many others fail. We are, in fact, born different. There is also a certain element of timing involved, but play the game long enough and your opportunity presents itself.
My opportunity... I'd like to credit the Jedi. No, they didn't save me from the monsters. But they did eliminate them. Left a sizeable opening for someone to fill. Since they'd already 'saved' our little world from the big, bad wolf there wasn't much chance they'd be back any time soon. So, we had time to figure out what worked. What didn't work. Iron out the little details in the logics to avoid drawing undue attention to ourselves.
Yes, well, the Maw certainly caused a fuss as well. Can't forget their contributions in distracting the galaxy's do-gooders.
I wouldn't call myself evil. Quite the opposite. People like me keep this galaxy running. Everyone likes to talk about how they'd save people and make the world a better place -- ideals that sound good when you're trying to convince others you're a good person. What do they do to make it happen? It's a cut-throat galaxy out there. Just on the holo-news and you hear about it every day. Those like me simply don't swaddle ourselves in the delusion everything will be alright because someone -- like the Jedi -- will swoop in and save us all. We do what we must. To survive. To provide.
Look at the countless people Sanguine Enterprise and its many Subsidiaries employs. They have no need to engage in criminal activity. They can afford a safe place to sleep, food to eat, and even provide affordable education services for their children. Is that evil? I can't solve all of the galaxy's problems. I leave the impossible promises to the politicians. Some suffer. Not everyone gets everything they feel they're due. There's nothing to be done about that -- the galaxy isn't a fair place.
The Covenant? Well, I do have to admit they have a firmer grasp on the stark necessities of life and ruling planets than most. Even the Galactic Empire focused on conquest and annihilation. Not that I complained when they placed orders with one of our companies to help construct their toy. But, really, a single Death Star? A gargantuan target in a galaxy filled with novel weapons of mass destruction. Meanwhile, these Sith, they do like to expend material in expanding their influence. I can't fault their need for our continued services, can I?
