Aster Jen'allé

paradise__i_am_coming____by_kimonas-d3lf6cs.jpg

NAME: Aster Jen'allé

FACTION: Technically under the umbrella of the Outer Rim Coalition

RANK: Currently, Aster is just a fledgling bounty hunter with no real rank to speak of

SPECIES: Human

AGE: 28

SEX: Female

HEIGHT: 5' 11"

WEIGHT: 186 pounds naturally, but extensive internal modifications push her actual weight up to 231 pounds

EYES: The cybernetic implants she has to wear to see are a deep imperial jade

HAIR: Her hair is as black as cold obsidian

SKIN: Aster has a noticeable tan

FORCE SENSITIVE: Any chance of being force sensitive was cut off by extensive body modifications and genetic modifications when she was in her mid to late teens

WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
  • Claustrophobia - Aster is severely claustrophobic, to the point that she sometimes becomes panicked even in the relatively open cockpit of her UT-60D Starfighter
  • Poor social skills - Between the gangs of her youth and the fanatical military she was conscripted to in her late teens, Aster hasn't learned much in the way of social grace. In her mind, the only way to be accepted is through brute force. Some part of her wants to feel a little more feminine, still, she hasn't the slightest idea how to approach such a change and the idea of putting herself out there like that terrifies her.
  • Fear of the unknown - As alluded to previously, Aster also fears things which are abnormal for her. This doesn't apply to exploring deep space, capturing someone on a planet she has never ventured to before, or anything so simple. Instead it applies to anything outside of what she is comfortable with. Even eating somewhere outside of her rowdy social archetype or meeting someone new is like crawling naked through broken glass.
  • Cowardice - Aster has a laundry list of fears and insecurities she suffers, and while she can work in spite of her more minor fears, when faced with the greatest among them she cowers in the face of them. This is perhaps her defining flaw, it's one thing to have a fear, and something entirely different to forget who you are and let that fear control you.

STRENGTHS :
  • Enhanced Physical Capability- Aster is beyond the reasonable peak of human physicality, something that she owes to the cruel bio-enhancements, sporting superhuman strength, agility, endurance, and reflexes. It doesn't hurt that she was strong even before the enhancements. These enhancements don't bring her into the absurd, only reaching an increase over peak human strength (Peak human strength being characterized as a bench press of around 1,100 lbs, a squat of around 1,300 lbs, and a deadlift of around 1,000 lbs) of 35-45% between bio-enhancements and her combat endoskeleton, with another 8% boost through highly dangerous "overclocking".
  • Enhanced Mental Capability - Though she actually has a fairly poor education, owing to spending more time in gangs than actual schooling, Aster actually has a very high IQ. Adding to that the genetic enhancements, and a powerful computer hooked directly into her central nervous system gives you someone capable of lightning fast informed decisions, even if her rough dialect betrays her humble origins.
  • Accepting - Aster is very accepting of other people from all walks of life. Even in spite of her understandable fear of the rich and powerful, she is still more than willing to let them speak their piece.
  • Charismatic - Despite a rough exterior and rowdy nature, Aster has shown in the past to be a natural leader. From gangs to the military, few who know her wouldn't follow her to the gates of hell.

APPEARANCE (Written as in action):
"Powerful arms and legs bristle with muscle as Aster hurls her thick frame from handhold to far away handhold along the Utapauan cliffside. Her jumps had to be immaculately timed with windows where the winds, currently throwing her cold-obsidian hair into wild disarray, whimpered and abated. Her eyes, as green as imperial jade and backlit with electricity, scanned along the rocky face for the next sturdy outcropping to latch onto. In an instant, she located it and, calculating the airflow, she counted silently down to her next leap. Her legs coiled once more before extending and deeply calloused hands reached out for the outcropping. They never found their mark has electricity arced and sent rocks tumbling down on her bruised and scarred face; her body tumbling after them to a serendipitous ledge below."

BIOGRAPHY:
Aster was born on a lesser known world within the Outer Rim to happy and supportive parents. Her fortuitous circumstances; however, were usurped at the age of 12 when she grew rebellious and fell in with an all girl street gang. Throughout the next few years of her life she grew distant from her parents and increasingly truant from the school eventually culminating in leaving her home at age 15 to stay in with the gang full time. It was at this time she became a full member and was sponsored as the favorite of the gang's Alpha, Leah "Lee" il'Reine.

As a full time member she was expected to begin body-modding, a common trend among disenfranchised youth of her home planet, and her first mod was to be chosen by her sponsor. Leah's choice would be a mod that supercharges the adrenaline response of the body. This served two purposes, first: Aster was one of the most physically imposing members of the gang despite her young age, an enhanced adrenaline response would help her better use her natural strength if a fight should break out. The second purpose was to create an enhanced sexual response. Aster, while glad to be a full member and one so favored by the leader, was terrified of this body modification. As the date of her mod approached she began to beg Leah in private to let her skip out on it, but Leah would only get annoyed and tell her something about how Aster couldn't be scared of something like this because she was Leah's favorite. If Leah's favorite was scared, then it would be seen as a sign of Leah's weakness, and she simply couldn't have that. As Aster became more insistent, Leah became abusive, and so it was that Aster was forced to bite her tongue and choke down her feelings. This would be the first of many times she was made to ignore her fears. The day came and she was taken to the black market mod-clinic. She was strapped down and put into the tight space of the surgery apparatus. She was gagged and given grossly insufficient quantities of pain killer (to cut costs) as her body was cut open and organic components were either enhanced or outright replaced by electronics and metal. By the time the surgery was over she was in a total panic, the restraints had mostly kept her still, but she managed to injure her neck and bruise her forehead badly since her head wasn't fully restrained. She came out a crying mess with Leah the only one waiting to pick her up from the back alley. Leah scolded her eventually beating her badly until she stopped crying. When that happened Leah would force Aster to look her in the eye as Leah stroked the hair out of her face and said, "See, now there's my strong girl".

After they returned to the hideout, Leah went forward to present Aster and her new mod. This, as was tradition, happened almost completely naked (partly from necessity, and partly as an odd hazing ritual). Aster had never felt more violated and as questions were raised about why her body was in such a sorry state, she further had to bite her tongue while Leah explained. An elaborate story was given about how the doctor, "didn't perform to Aster's standards" and so when Aster was sewn up and released from the surgery apparatus she, "got up, still fucked up on the Zydrate and beat the shit out of the doctor" she then went on to explain how she heard the commotion from the back alley and broke in to get Aster out. She was allowed to go and lie down, though it could hardly be called rest. She was suffering from, "metal fever," a severe reaction to body modding that, while uncommon in legitimate channels, was all too common for black market mods. She was out sick for days, but while she lay down the story received acceptance from members of her gang and she became increasingly popular. For the next two years she enjoyed status within her gang, and Leah pushed more and more mods on her. Each time she had to hold her tongue as the surgery commenced and finished, if she couldn't keep herself from crying she would get attacked by Leah, each time the same basic story was given and accepted as more and more black market modders became, "off-limits" to the gang. Eventually, her stories even spread to other gangs and she became a kind of street legend, with her gang coining her purported violence after getting 'bad' mods as, "Mod Madness". This was supported by her forced ferocity whenever fights broke out, and it helped her gang gain great infamy. As a result, when Leah died due to complications regarding a mod, Aster was her natural successor as Alpha.

Her rule over the gang wouldn't last long, however, as a dictator came into power over her home planet. The dictator would crack down on gangs and, after he had fully centralized his power, he would begin offering them conscription in place of execution. This wasn't out of the kindness of his heart, quite the opposite in fact, he wanted to galvanize his hold on the planet in the face of an impending civil war and so he began toying with the concept of super soldiers. As it turned out, people who already had body modifications were far more receptive to future modifications, making the young, tough, and fully modded gang members perfect test subjects. The initial program would last for 5 years (more than double its unrealistic 2 year proposal), had an 80% mortality rate, and would cost the dictator an incredible amount of time and resources. Aster would deal with the grueling training, metal fever like she had never experienced before, and deaths of dozens of her peers. Still, she survived and persevered through those initial years. Over the course of testing these prototype super soldiers, a full on planetary civil war had broken out. Opposition forces were small compared to the Dictators military and yet they managed to gain several key footholds and a lot of momentum in the ensuing conflict. Not only this, but detractors were pointing to the dictators super soldier program as a major reason for these defeats! The mad leader had to show their power and he needed to do so now. So, it was that the Bio-engineered Special Forces (or BFS) would see its first combat, and the final test of the prototype super soldiers.

The initial reviews were good, a BFS soldier was stronger, faster, and better able to handle battlefield uncertainty than any standard or droid soldier. Despite this success there were some serious issues: for starters, while body modding had been around for a long time, the prototype combat endoskeleton developed for these supersoldiers was essentially a new technology and came with a lot of issues. The biggest of these issues came with the lower body. While they had done a lot of work on the engineering of the upper body, since a catastrophic failure in the head or chest would be lethal, the lower body did not have nearly as much work done on it. While it allows for feats of great strength, at the upper end of the operating range, the legs are susceptible to a catastrophic failure in which the shock absorbing leg supports are prone to exploding outwards. This is, if treated quickly, non lethal, but having your supersoldiers lose a leg without experiencing enemy fire is not exactly a good way to boost morale. Still, the BFS was a necessary component to the counteroffensive, so the dictator forced units into continued combat with promises that the bugs would be fixed in design and deployed to active units. Unfortunately for the super soldiers, the dictator had spent far too much into this pet project, and despite the BFS making a lot of headway into opposition footholds, the government collapsed under the weight of its debts. This left BFS units with a fiercely programmed loyalty to a fallen (and summarily executed) dictator, and an endoskeleton prone to catastrophic failure. The new government initiated a program to give these supersoldiers amnesty and even repair some of the problems caused by the modifications, but mounting pressure from resistance fighters and civilians who witnessed the animosity and prowess of the BFS units in putting down the rebellion ended up cancelling the programs before any substantial work could be done. This left ex-BFS supersoldiers to be looked down upon and eventually the amnesty was retroactively removed.

Aster and her combat unit hid from the new government, which was in many ways just as vile as the one that it overthrew, but eventually she was found and put into a super-max detention facility. Eventually the Outer Rim Coalition would come to posses this backwater planet and would stabilize leadership. The victims of the BFS program would be once again released, but no attempts would be made to right the wrongs dealt toward them. Aster was released and told that her parents had actually survived the war, but by this point she blamed herself so much for her cowardice in not standing up to the military she had been forced to serve and couldn't face them. With that in mind she took what meager funds she was afforded and a UT-60D Support Ship from an old connection and left the planet to become a bounty hunter and mercenary. She chose to isolate herself from her old team instead of continuing to, "lead them astray" as she would later put it.

SHIP:
Aster has possession of a very lightly modified UT-60D "U-wing" Support ship. The only real difference is personal foldout bed, and a few detention pods in place of the door gunnery positions.

KILLS:
No Kills

BOUNTIES COLLECTED:
No bounties
