OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create the endoskeleton used by Aster Jen'allé
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Bio-engineered Special Forces Program
  • Affiliation:
    Aster Jen'allé
  • Model: BSF-01
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Semi-Unique
  • Material: The endoskeleton is primarily made from an alloy of titanium and chromium as well as various electronic components
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Complete Endoskeleton
  • Size: Large
  • Weight: Very Heavy
  • Resistances (Optional): As the endoskeleton is almost completely internal, it provides little protection; however, the critical electronics have very high resistance to EMP and Electronic warfare (with the exception of strong, directed EMP targeting the Neural computer)
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Features a a powerful computer hooked directly to the users brain
  • Optical cybernetic implants hooked directly into the endoskeleton creates a HUD where critical information about the battlefield, a mission, or the status of the BSF-01 can be transmitted directly to the visual cortex
  • Self-repairing nanotechnology reduces the need for maintenance of the system
  • Self-administering bacta spray can help repair micro tearing, stress fracturing, and other minor internal injuries caused by overclocking of the endoskeleton
  • Shock absorption allows the user to fall from greater heights, and handle greater recoil while maintaining accuracy
  • Endoskeleton boasts the ability to allow for feats between 35-45% above peak human strength in Genetically Enhanced humans with relative safety. An additional 8% can be achieved through 'overclocking', which boosts capabilities but can cause serious internal injuries if used outside of extremely short bursts (think no more than a couple of seconds).
  • Can suppress the bodies pain response, allowing them to power through injuries for short windows. This can be very dangerous as when the pain response is no longer suppressed, feelings of intense pain and panic can shock the system. Although uncommon, this has been known to cause fatal heart attacks.
  • Hooking into the central nervous system can help facilitate enhanced reflexes in a Genetically Enhanced human
  • Enhanced adrenaline response provides a sort of biological 'overclock'

STRENGTHS
  • Gives the user critical information as fast as they can process it
  • Provides super human strength
  • Allows for super human feats of endurance
  • Can keep pain from affecting the user
  • Gives the user access to a database of information at the speed of thought
  • Facilitates use of genetic enhancements
  • Highly resistant to EMP and other forms of electronic warfare with a few exceptions

WEAKNESSES

  • The endoskeleton is a prototype which hasn't been fully tested
  • Many of its most useful features come with serious downsides
  • Use of the endoskeleton is difficult without other genetic modifications
  • The endoskeleton is often too good at cooling itself leaving users reporting serious discomfort from the sharp cold throughout their entire bodies
  • Frequent and strong headaches can impede the user, especially during non-combat situations
  • The endoskeleton is so integral to the user that removing it is quite literally impossible
  • Occasional issues with the neural connections can have a strong dissociative effect on the user, badly impeding normal human function for limited windows
  • A serious design flaw on the lower body of the endoskeleton can cause catastrophic failure if operating the lower body at the upper limit of capability (especially during overclocking)
  • While the endoskeleton has strong protection, it is theoretically possible to shutdown the skeleton with powerful, direct EMP blasts to to the neural computer rendering the user all but totally helpless
  • The exposed components of the spinal section make wearing medium and heavy armor not specifically designed around the endoskeleton difficult and often painful.
  • A user of the BSF-01 Combat Endoskeleton is cut off from any force sensitivity they may have otherwise had

DESCRIPTION
Product of the feverish power fantasy of a cruel dictator, the BFS-01 Combat Endoskeleton was the final piece of his plan to have a super soldier special forces branch to crush anyone willing to rise up against his iron rule. Perhaps given enough time, resources, and testing he would've created the greatest super soldiers the galaxy knew, but as his coffers ran dry and the opposition bled the rest of his military the BSF program ended up as the last blood-curdling warcry of a failed madman. Yes, the super soldiers he created were successful enough, but there were so many unresolved flaws within them and the BFS-01 Combat Endoskeleton that being suited up with one was more of a curse than anything else. Sure, it could elevate someone beyond normal human capability, but one could do more by training in the force and without the baggage of splitting headaches, jarring dissociation, and exploding legs (not to mention the years of painful genetic modifications and surgeries to prepare for and install the endoskeleton.) If one were to ignore all of the flaws present in the design, they would be able to run faster, jump farther, and handle greater burdens than any non-force sensitive human could dream of, and all without having to put on a heavy suit of armor. Add armor specifically fit around the BSF-01 and you certainly have a force to be reckoned with, but nothing a well equipped human or force user of greater skill couldn't handle. The limited availability of the Endoskeleton and inability for force users to utilize it help severely mitigate would be abusers of the endoskeleton (which should help prevent metagaming of the endoskeleton to create an unstoppable god character).

As to the endoskeleton itself, it is hooked into the users spine, goes all the way down the spine with metal supports along the users entire skeleton to help absorb shock and enhance physical capabilities in the same way a combat exoskeleton might. It also hooks upward into the users brain and has optical implants that replace the users biological eyes. The eyes and spinal section are the only components visible to the naked eye under normal circumstances, and there are no weapons on the endoskeleton itself (so no adamantium claws popping out of knuckles, or surprise finger guns) unless you consider the weight of the skeleton a weapon (which is a fair assessment. Imagine getting punched by someone who has titanium strapped to their bones and can squat almost a ton with overclocking.)
