Assassiner Des Corbeaux

Another unexpected retaliation. This Force Bellow was something else Sophie was surprised to see her master use. She watched as it nearly crippled the wall [member="Darth Arcanix"] had directed it towards. Looking back to her an aghast look in her eyes, Sophie took the appreciative credit for her actions. She nodded and thanked her master before she was told to use a final method of sending a thought through the last familiar.

A deep breath before Sophie connected with it as it sat on the table still in front of her. She figured the exact thought to send to her master. Thinking hard on it the familiar began to react, giving a little caw before looking to her master. As both eyes met Sophie thought hard and yet fluent so that it could be heard.

I want to learn more...

Taeli heard the thought reverberate within her head, her apprentice's desire to learn more was even stronger than normal from the two powers Taeli had demonstrated today.

"Everything I just showed you, and more, will be yours soon, Sophie. Soon." she sent back towards her apprentice, using the familiar's thought projection path and using it respond.

Out loud she said, "A truly excellent start to learning Sith alchemy, Sophie. The familiars that were created here are yours to command from now on, and worry not, they will not require feeding. They will exist with the shadows and will heed your call, wherever you might be. Our next lesson will be soon, and we might be going on a field trip then as well. I need to do some research first, but rest assured, more knowledge will be yours all too soon."

Hearing her mental message Sophie nodded before hearing [member="Darth Arcanix"] speak aloud. Looking to her three familiars Sophie now knew she had the command of three powerful conduits. Though, thinking on it, it wouldn't hurt to have a few more if need be. Looking to her master she asked "Is there a limit to how many I could have? Also what do I do with them in the meantime? How do I make them become shadows? I think it'll be odd for there to be a flock of shadow birds around me all the time."

Taeli pondered the question about limits for a moment, and she couldn't remember reading anything about a limit on how many familiars one could control or possess.

"As far as I have studied, I have never encountered a limit on familiars," she said. "You could control an entire flock of them in theory, and use them for any number of purposes. As for reducing them to shadow, I'll demonstrate."

Snapping her fingers, her familiar emerged from the shadow she cast and landed on her shoulder, giving a loud caw and eyeing the other familiars within the room. Making sure to keep her Force movements open so her apprentice could sense them, she directed the familiar to dive into her shadow, to be silent and ready for her call. The familiar took flight again and soared into her shadow, leaving no evidence it was even there.

"You merely need to command them to sink into your shadow, the connection will be dormant until you call upon one or more, so you will not even know they are in your shadow waiting for your command," Taeli explained.

[member="Sophie Gustav"]

Watching [member="Darth Arcanix"] demonstrate Sophie nodded while observing how easy it seemed. After her master's familiar went back into the shadows Sophie looked to her own. Closing her eyes she focused on all three. They cawed and chirped before eventually fly into the air. One-by-one they flew down and vanished into her shadow before all were now dormant inside. She looked back and smiled, seeing how easy it was, before looking back to the cabinet with the vile of ingredients needed for making familiars.

Looking to her master she smirked and said "I think we're going to need more ingredients."

Taeli's eyebrows rose at the smile on her apprentice's face. It warmed her heart to know she was so excited to keep working on this project. Pulling her datapad, she sent a message to have more ingredients brought to the lab, the 10,000 credit cost easily absorbed by her bank account. Normally it would be much harder and far more expensive, but being the apprentice to a Voice had its merits and being on a world controlled firmly by the Sith also helped.

A few minutes later, a servant arrived bearing more ingredients for the familiars, enough to create as many as Sophie thought she wanted.

"So how many do you plan on making, Sophie?" Taeli asked.

[member="Sophie Gustav"]

Watching as the servants arrived Sophie looked at each handful of ingredients needed for more familiars. She had a plan to make the alchemy now know to her in the Sith's favor. In fact it would be one of the greater favors is she could perfect it. When [member="Darth Arcanix"] Sophie answered "Enough that the Sith will have s another grand weapon against the Jedi. Me!" She then turned to the servants and said "Bring medical equipment and enough food and drink. I'm going to need a lot of blood for this." After that she turned to her master and said "If I could have time alone. I'd like it to be a surprise. Give me until nightfall, master. And if you can, bring any of the Sith lords to see this. I want them to see how ambitious I truly am for the Sith's goals." After that she turned back to everything presented to her and removed her jacket. This was going to be a lot of hard work.

(If you think you can actually ask one of the Sith Lords to see this. It's going to be so cool! lol)

"You shall have everything you require," Taeli laughed, her apprentice was now glowing with ambition. It was a wonderful sight indeed. "I shall bring my own master to witness the surprise you have in store for us. Don't disappoint me, Sophie. This will reflect on both of us."

Turning, Taeli left to contact her master and allow her apprentice to have the privacy she requested. She was extremely curious about she had planned, very curious indeed. Passing the servants that were carrying the medical and food, she continued walking, her cape billowing behind her.

Hours passed. Sophie had been so deep into her work that she lost track of time. It didn't matter though. She needed to make sure it was right. That everything worked. She needed to test every last familiar she created. She needed to connect with them each at a time. She had to make sure she could focus powers, thoughts and feelings through them. Tedious as it was it was helped with each new one created before controlling groups at a time. She needed to be careful though. Too much could spread her mind thin. Thankfully, consulting the books of familiar creation left by her master, she learned a few tricks to keep one major thought in all before letting any others have full control.

All of Sophie's work went into the early night, and the servant who stood at the lab's door for her constantly stayed alert. Now and then she'd popped out to give him discarded bags of food or empty bottle of bathca to throw away. Whenever she did the servant could hear cawing or the flapping of wings. At times he saw red eyes looking towards him from somewhere in the back of the room.

Eventually when the time came Sophie finally stepped out of the lab. There were no sounds coming from within for, as the servant checked for himself, there was nothing there. "Tell my master and anyone else with her to go to the viewing decks on the north side of the temple." she said, fixing herself up to look presentable. "Tell them my surprise is ready."

The servant nodded and hurried off, not seeing that as Sophie walked the shadow behind her seemed rather large. In fact it was too large to have been cast by any light source nearby...

"So I'm curious at what my apprentice is attempting here, Master," Taeli said to [member="Darth Praelior"] as they made their way to the spot the servant had told the two Sith about. Walking into the north side viewing deck, Taeli could see her apprentice down below.

'I hope she knows what she is doing,' she thought quietly to herself.

Elara had been called... well Balaya had been called and Elara was coming with her now. The apprentice following as she moved next to the large zeltron standing in the oracle armor and with her faithful blade across her back. A sign of her own victory and power compared to others that stood tall. The other campaigns had her well armed as well which was a great feeling while Balaya stood there to full near thirteen feet out of armor. With her armor she would have been more but needed to work on that later while she was moving now. "You have asked for me to come apprentice?"

"Yes, Master," Taeli replied, bowing slightly to her master. "My apprentice down below has something she wishes to show both myself and you, I was teaching her to create and use familiars when an idea struck her. Now we will see the fruit of her labors."

Using the Force, she contacted her apprentice, saying, "Begin your demonstration and know that a Voice of the Dark Lord is watching. This will help your progress amongst us greatly if this succeeds."

Eventually reaching the side platform Sophie looked over, seeing both [member="Darth Praelior"] and [member="Darth Arcanix"] there. The master of her master was present. This deserved a more lower bow that Sophie never usually gave. A sign of respect to a fully anointed Sith Lord. It was good both were here. Now they could see Sophie's little project at full work.

Turning to the rest of Courascant Sophie began to take deep breaths. She closed her eyes and slowly held her hands up. From behind her shadow was cast back into the rest of the temple, reaching far back enough to reach the wall far back to almost the other side of the temple itself. Those who could see it thought it odd her shadow was cast so far and large, the moon barley able to cast such light on someone like her. They stood away as they could see the shadow itself begin to move.

From it one single crow familiar appeared. The smallest one Sophie had first created for herself. It landed on her shoulder and cawed out to the world. Suddenly the rest of Sophie's shadow moved. Another crow soon flew out. Followed by another. Then five more. Followed by ten. Twenty. Fifty. Those nearby stepped further back, some tripping over themselves as they could see what seemed like a giant murder of crows fly from her shadow and out into the open world.

Sophie continued to hold her arms out as more crows flew out, all culminating in one giant circular shape. Eventually there was not but a giant shadowed circle or up to 500 familiar crows flying over the city. Everyone below could see them. Those in the temple ran out to see for themselves as they continued to circle.

Sophie looked over to her audience, especially the dark knight and lord she was meant to show this to, before smiling. It was time for a further demonstration. She reached into the mind of the smallest crow, still perched on her shoulder, before it took off towards the others. It flew near the cyclone of familiar's before flying down into the city. The other suddenly followed it, swerving down and following like a swarm of bees.

They flew into the nearby streets for at least ten blocks around. People were already afraid of these sudden demonic creatures appearance, but Sophie planned to give them more. Using the ability to force emotions through them the familiars began to caw loudly. Their caws, to everyone below, would echo in their minds and force out their greatest fears in them. They would scream at the sight of anything now but all were obviously draw to the huge mass of crows flying over their heads. The entire area was soon screaming.

Elara looked at the sight and raised an eyebrow as she turned to her master wondering if she could do that. She knew her master had and created familiars but ah.... That many seemed a dangerous game as she had been linked to one and felt its mind touching her own. It was how she had gotten the padawan pack to work and trick one or two but most importantly she had gotten information from Ossus while moving about. The smile on her face as she watched her master speak. "Impressive but parlor tricks are for children my dear, a swarm of familiars is only strong when you have the skill to expand and use all of them." Elara watched her walking towards the girl as her masters tongue slipped out the mouth on it opening as it went down in front of her snapping.

"In all fairness, Master, she has only just begun learning," Taeli said. The slightly smug look on Elara's face was still irritating to the Sith Knight, even now. "Given time, I believe she might be able to make use of the swarm she has created. Either way, it's impressive for a new apprentice to do such."

Turning to look at the Zeltron, she continued, "We all have to start somewhere after all, and for someone I brought over from the Jedi, she is adapting quite well." Images of a bloody alley, a terentatek being blasted with beginner lightning, a Leviathan with its head nearly chopped off, all flashed through her mind. [member="Darth Praelior"] was a Voice, so her words weren't fully unexpected, and she still could swear she heard the ever so slight tone of approval.

Reaching with the Force, Taeli whispered into Sophie's mind, "Impressive, truly impressive, my apprentice."

[member="Sophie Gustav"]

With enough time passed, and the city full of fear, Sophie had ordered her familiars to fly upward and back into a flying circle. The word from [member="Darth Arcanix"] had been satisfying enough. She looked to where she and [member="Darth Praelior"] stood and nodded before snapping her fingers. The smallest familiar flew back towards her with the others following in a grand stream. All flew past her and absorbed themselves back into her shadow. All the familiars were gone.

Just as Sophie turned Sebastian, her devourer pup, had run to her barking at the sight. She'd realized she'd not seen him all day and keeled down, petting him as he gave a happy whimper. After that she decided to speak with her masters in person. Walking up to the landing area where everyone else was Sophie, followed by Sebastian, came to the spot and stood there. Once they looked to her she knelled, setting down on one knee.

"Doing something because you can is not always best, I could create a tendril of darkside energy and melt the flesh from your bones, I could with enough energy and focus use a spell to cause a sun to go supernova, I could rape your mind, lay you out and make you believe I am filling your mouth with your mothers own feces. There is a reason I do not." Elara stood there looking on at the two and her eyes were flicking over both of them. "Because it will serve no purpose. If you are to do something it must have a purpose otherwise it is wasted. Creating a swarm of familiars without the strength or knowledge to exert and use them to spread serves little purpose. Now you just have something that is going to feed you back information, a thousand eyes, a thousand nerves and sensations."
