Ashline Industrial Works is the fractured but functioning industrial backbone of the Ashline Terminal spaceport. It operates in the spaces where old corpo factories once stood, their assets absorbed and retooled for more pragmatic and often illegal, purposes. The company accepts private manufacturing requests, primarily for syndicate-aligned groups, pirates and off-grid traders who don't ask too many questions. It produces custom starship modifications, low-profile weapons, retrofit kits and "refurbished" vehicle components that may or may not have been stripped from stolen craft.
Operations are decentralized. Each sector of AIW answers to a local foreman, but all ultimately report to Vigo Darrik Korrin, or who now answers to a Sith by the name of Mercy. While still considered a Black Sun-aligned venture, Ashline Industrial Works increasingly follows Mercy's requirements, producing assets for her warband and their allies. The company thrives on bribery, barter and strong-armed negotiation. Ethics are optional.
RATIONALE
Ashline Industrial Works emerged from the hollowed-out carcasses of Republic-era factories abandoned during the fall of the Galactic Republic. As corporate interests withdrew from Nar Shaddaa in the face of mounting criminal pressure, Darrik Korrin moved in, acquiring the rights to massive production facilities at cut-rate costs. Initially, these facilities were meant to serve legitimate shipping fronts and low-profile manufacturing chains.
But as Korrin aged and the terminal fell into decay, the factories were repurposed. Control fragmented and operations shifted from legitimate logistics to black market manufacturing and salvage. The name Ashline Industrial Works was coined not as a brand, but as a catch-all for the sprawling, semi-cooperative network of labor crews, foremen and syndicate-linked engineers still churning out product.
With Mercy's arrival and her subsequent rescue of the terminal from collapse, Ashline Industrial Works has begun producing more exotic, aggressive and combat-focused assets. Mercy does not officially own AIW, but its resources are hers to call upon and its workers know whose shadow keeps the terminal safe now.
