Ash is defined as the powdery residue that is left after something is burned.

The Mahporeem Imperial Remnant, being something of an industrial juggernaut, is quite familiar with the sight, smell and feel of ash, and the substance is quite prevalent throughout Imperial held space. Yet, for all the ash one can find throughout Mahporeem's territory, there is still one location where the namesakee substance has left an even larger mark than it ever could on Mahporeem: the Ash Worlds. Devastated by ancient wars from thousands of years ago, the enigmatic Ash Worlds have sat on the doorstep of Mahporeem ever since their destruction, and now that the Imperial Remnant is enjoying a resurgence of power, they wish to investigate just what exactly remains in the sector. If there experience for Rusito has taught them anything, its not to judge a planet by its initial appearance...

OBJECTIVE I: PERFORMANCE REVIEW
[PvP, Fleeters]

Commander. Admiral. Imperial. Traitor. Though their are many ways that one might describe Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen , what is not up for debate is his impeccable naval record as a military officer. His victories speak for themselves, and after Marlon's pivotal role in destroying the Third Death Star, one one can doubt his military acumen and penchant for defeating his foes, no matter how the odds may be stacked against him. Yet, a series of political blunders during his tenure with the Imperial Confederation have caused some to doubt his ability to lead, and these voices have only been magnified with Sularen's promotion to Grand Admiral. Today, Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen seeks to silence his critics once and for all. On the uninhabited world of Cophrigin V, the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant has established a simulation chamber for Marlon to show off his skills and experience as a seasoned naval commander. Though his enemies are fake, the stakes are not, and Marlon's performance will determine his future with the Imperial Remnant going forward. Will he rise to the occasion as he's done so many times before, or will the pressure crack him like Alderaan being destroyed by the original Death Star?

OBJECTIVE II: VIEWING GALLERY
[Social]

In addition to the simulation chamber itself, the Imperial Remnant has constructed an entire base around Marlon's test, complete with a viewing gallery and all the amenities one might expect on any civilized planet. Particularly interesting is the fact that members of the Iron Covenant and High Republic have been invited to observe Marlon's progress as he navigates the intricacies of the challenge he faces before himself. Yet the question remains why? Is the Imperial Remnant trying to up the pressure on Marlon even further by having outside observers take note of his progress? Or is there something else going on here, something that no one knows about besides the Imperial Remnant? Regardless of Mahporeem's intentions, visitors are encouraged to eat, drink, socialize and observe the simulated battle.

OBJECTIVE III: THAT'S...A LOT OF MOONS
[PvP, PvE,]

Much like the former Supreme Commander and now Grand Admiral, the planet lego can be described in as many ways, though it is most commonly called the "Planet of a Thousand Moons". Each moon is just as unique as the next, almost as if a separate planet, and there is no telling what one might find when landing on any man. The Mahporeem Imperial Remnant has begun surveys of all these moons and the planet lego itself, sending its naval and ground forces to take control of the system, though doing so remains a time consuming and lengthy process. Still, the potential rewards are more than worth it, though no one knows for certain what kind of creatures lurk throughout the system, or whether or not such creatures are sentient. If rumors are to be believed, there is no shortage of potential hostiles that will need to be dealt with upon landing in the system...

I entered the viewing gallery within the newly erected base, the heavy doors sealing behind me with a hydraulic groan that sounded disturbingly like the closing of a tomb.

Beyond the reinforced transparisteel, a naval simulation was to unfold around Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen , warships moving through the artificial void like carrion insects circling some unseen corpse.

Naval combat had never settled well with me. Too many variables. Too many trajectories, distances, sensor ghosts, command delays, and meaningless little calculations that could turn victory into catastrophe with the twitch of a machine.

I preferred certainty.

I preferred proximity.

Get close enough to smell the enemy's fear, close enough to watch the life leave their eyes. Combat should be personal. It should have weight. It should scream.

I continued along the gallery, watching the simulation preparations with only passing interest, when a familiar voice emerged from behind me.
“Good evening, Minister Asara. We met at Carida.” I turned, finding an Imperial officer of distinguished bearing approaching, his uniform immaculate and his expression carrying the faint confidence of a man who had survived a tremendous trial to become comfortable with death.

I smiled.

“Well, fancy seeing you here, Captain.” My eyes dropped briefly to his insignia. “My apologies. Major Varhase.”

Major Varhase offered a polite bow.
“No apology necessary, Minister. High Command saw fit to promote me to Major after my heroics on Ruisto.”

“Did they?” I replied, my smile widening just enough to become dangerous.

I gestured toward a server droid gliding silently along the gallery, a silver tray balanced upon its head and carrying an assortment of dark liquors, pale wines, frosty fruit drinks, and crystalline Imperial spirits on it.
“Come. Join me for a drink before the piirayas get here.” Major Varhase gave a low laugh as he fell into step beside me.

“It will be an honor, Minister. Though, if you'll permit me, when I first met you, you struck me as a piiraya.”

I stopped.

The amusement vanished from my face with such suddenness that even the simulated preparations beyond the glass seemed to become quieter. I turned my head toward him, my eyes settling upon his with the cold patience of something ancient deciding whether a creature was worth eating.

“Major,” I said flatly, “I'm much worse.” I allowed the silence to linger for a heartbeat before turning toward the approaching droid. “Now, let's have that drink.”

Augustus Tassar had arrived with the Imperial forces in the Iego system merely hours before. He had spent the better part of the last day up to mere minutes before they translated from hyperspace back into realspace planning and coordinating the invasion of the system. Now the Grand Marshal of the Mahporeem Imperial Army, his Central Command needed swiftly establishment in its processes or it would not function to his satisfaction. And he strongly opposed anything that dissatisfied him which was under his control.

The arriving army was transported by naval assets, coordinated by his navy liaison and entered the system unopposed. Silhouettes of Star Destroyers, escorts, cruisers and troop transports hurried out of hyperspace, quickly assuming a formation that proceeded forward as planned. As far as Augustus knew, there was a delegation of diplomats that would attempt contact with the local inhabitants, but the overall operation was focused on making the system and moons compliant and ready for Imperial operations. The planet and its sentient inhabitants were secondary in priority.

Therefore efforts were focused on several moons at the outside of the system and a few further in to monitor the locals and prevent any further curious incidents. The latter was also the reason that ships were strictly instructed to follow predetermined vectors of approach and remain in formation at all times.

The biggest moon that was targeted, was designated as 33/V or as it was picked up from local traffic Tristram. It hold a spacer outpost that seemed abandoned, but had a working minor port, basic life support and some other amenities that would make operations far easier.

The issue was: the moon had not been abandoned several days ago when probe reports showed its activity and picked up its name in comms traffic. Now, there was nothing, no noise, no signs of life from distant scans.

Augustus originally intended to go towards the inner system himself, but this oddity undid that plan and he, together with a expeditionary force, moved to Tristram to inspect its mysteries.

HIGH COMMANDER VICTPORT GRARAS
COPHRIGIN V SIMULATION CHAMBERS
OBJECTIVE II: VIEWING GALLERY

"And you're quite sure I can't change your mind?", Victport Graras Victport Graras asked Fleet Admiral Vorin Zonill as the two men peered over at the display that would allow them and anyone else in the viewing gallery to watch the battle that Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen was to participate in in real time.

Admittedly, as impressive as Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen 's naval and military record was, he had NOT been Victport's first choice for Grand Admiral of the Mahporeem Imperial Navy. His achievements on the field of battle were second to none, and Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen had racked up naval victory after naval victory during his tenure as Supreme Commander of the Imperial Confederation, going so far as to have made himself integral to the destruction of the Third Death Star over Atrisia. He should have been the perfect choice for Grand Admiral, had it not have been for his...less than stellar political record, including an incident that had nearly brought the Confederation to war against the High Republic and had certainly accelerated its decline and disbanding. That was why Victport had initially offered the position to Zonill, but he had for some unfathomable reason declined the position. Granted, Zonill was still quite young, and the position would have come with an immense increase in responsibility, which is why Zonill may have declined.

"I'm afraid not, sir", Zonill confirmed in response to Victport's question.

Thus, Sularen had been dutifully appointed Grand Admiral, to the chagrin of many within the Imperial Remnant. Victport had been forced to have Sularen prove that he deserved the appointment, which was why he had invited a select group of people to watch Marlon fight his simulated battle. The idea was quite simple: Sularen would be given a certain number of points to build his fleet with, and when he entered the simulator, he and his fleet would be transported to a empty section of space where he would be tasked with engaging and destroying the enemies sent after him. The more forces he brought with him, the stronger the enemy fleet would be, though he was not told o this. In fact, all he was told was that he had a point total to work with: he wasn't given any specifics as to his mission parameters or the type of enemy he would be facing. He would have to come up with a strategy on the fly, and Victport was curious to see what he would come up with.

Farther down, he could see Science Minister R'ayne Asara R'ayne Asara engaged in conversation with another officer, and Victport couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of this situation. How did such a highly decorated and competent naval officer force himself into this position of somehow having to prove his worth? Why wouldn't a native Mahporeenian take the position in his place? Was this an indication of things to come, or just an unfortunate holdover from Sularen's Imperial Confederation days?

Only time would tell for certain...

The upper ramp of the transport hung open behind Shae’ri Mor, its machinery humming beneath her boots as she stood against the cold winds of Iego. Beyond the landing site, the horizon stretched beneath an angry and unforgiving sky, barren terrain disappearing into distant haze.

Her gaze settled upon one particular direction; the Boneyard. Even from this distance, the legendary graveyard seemed to stain the horizon, a vast expanse of enormous bones belonging to creatures that had once ruled the world beneath their feet.

Their remains had endured long after flesh, blood, and memory had surrendered to time.

Imperial reports called it an ecological anomaly, local accounts called it sacred ground, and the oldest stories called it something far worse; a place where the fabled Demons of Iego emerged from the subterranean depths to rest among the dead.

Curiosity waved its banner within Shae’ri’s mind, and she had never been particularly skilled at ignoring such things. Demons or superstition, ancient predators or nothing more than frightened tales passed between scavengers, she intended to see the Boneyard with her own eyes.

She descended the ramp only long enough to secure her equipment, her expression hidden beneath the quiet severity of purpose. There were dangers in the galaxy that deserved respect, and there were others that deserved investigation.

The Boneyard was both.

Whatever waited beneath those colossal bones, if anything waited at all, would not keep her away. Shae’ri Mor had faced Jedi, Sith, monsters, and the countless ugly consequences of Imperial ambition.

She was not about to let a pile of dead creatures frighten her into staying aboard a ship.
