BootsSTRENGTHS
- Exceptional Plasma-Based Resistance. The use of rancor and terantatek leather provide exceptional resistance to plasma-based weaponry; including blasters and lightsabers.
- Light Armor (Mobility). The armor was designed with the move, shoot, move needs of the hunter, be it when foraging or the battlefield.
- No Protection Against Sonic Weaponry.
- No Cushioning (Kinetic Attack). The armor did not disperse or mitigate the blunt force trauma inflicted by a kinetic strike.
- Limited Area of Body Protection. The armor left the head and neck unprotected, with significant area of the arms and legs uncovered as well.
The Armor of the Chiroptix was a modern update to the traditional garb of Dathomirian archers. Constructed of traditional Dathomirian materials, the armor accounted for the unique demands of both spell casting and archery. A bracer was worn on the left arm, which was the arm used when wielding a Nightsister Energy Bow. This provided a layer of protection between the archer and the plasma drawstring of the weapon. The bracer extended over the knuckle of the thumb, safeguarding the hand from the glide of the plasma-based projectile. Similarly, the shooting hand made use of a plasma resistant finger tabs to protect the fingertips for any accidental contact with the plasma filament that supplied the drawstring for the weapon.
The armor itself was constructed of rancor leather that had been reinforced with an armorweave underlay and supported by the addition of terentatek hide plates. This greatly increased the resiliency of the resulting leather armor, allowing it to boast exceptional strength that was above average even against duraplast armors. Resistance to plasma-based energy was exceptional; however, its use against kinetic impact was rather varied. While the armor boasted excellent penetration resistance, there was no cushioning or diversion of the force of impact itself. So a kinetic strike could still inflict blunt trauma to the wearer, even if the armor itself was not penetrated.
