Arminius was born into one of the first worlds to fall under the Iron Sun of the New Imperial Order. Whilst it had a change of regime, its culture remained much the same, Imperial propaganda and indoctrination only encouraging the culture's fixation on martial primacy, an upbringing Arminius was no stranger to. He started dueling at the age of ten, a skill that continued well into his late teens when he was conscripted into the New Imperial Army. He initially began as a recruit, passing Stormtrooper selection before being sent to the 1st Armored Assault Division, a high caliber mechanized infantry Division, comprising of Stormtrooper and Armored Elements. They were present in high profile sieges and campaigns. Kroeger initially cashed his check as a basic infantry stormtrooper before an insurgent improvised explosive device mortally wounded him, leaving a great deal of his body disfigured and permanently damaged, eventually replaced with cybernetics. However, he refused discharge. For the months of rehabilitation that he was unable to run, bare weight and perform his Stormtrooper duties, he was transferred to an armored unit, emplaced as a Cataphract crew member, taking the role as gunner where he excelled and eventually took the role as a tank commander.
He had a keen eye for armored warfare and tactics, quick to employ various tactics on the run, exploit weaknesses in the enemy and aggressively attacked until the task was complete, even if it meant risking the lives of his platoon or squadron in the meanwhile. His close brush with death left him with an innate apathy toward a mortal end. These tactics endeared himself to Imperial leadership, earning him a battlefield commission which placed him as a tank platoon leader and later a troop commander, a role which he served until the eventual collapse of the Empire. Whilst most of his unit remained intact, many of the less effective and competent officers were executed by their subordinates and counterparts, leaving the more competent and those endearing to their enlistedmen to rise through the ranks of what was now an autonomous military unit. Eventually, many of the numbers and designations were abandoned for a greater moniker. Iron Legion. From there, they took the form of a separate warlord faction in and of itself, and after several decades among the lost and the damned of a shattered Empire, Arminius rose to the role of Legion Commander. Secluded aboard their flagship, the Long Night of Solace, the Legion roams as guns for hire, lost and the damned in the outer rim fo the Galaxy in once Imperial space, fighting beneath their own banner.
