Appearance: Arlessa is a fair-skinned, dark-haired beauty with eyes as blue as the moonstone in the Ducha's ring on her finger. In public she appears as a Hapan noblewoman, clad in the latest fashions and dripping from head to toe in jewels. In private she dresses far more comfortably in practical clothing, shedding the trappings of her station when possible.

Description: Arlessa is something of an enigma, even to those who know her. She seems to have it all: brains, beauty, wealth, privilege, and even the Force. And yet, there is something missing in Arlessa. She is cold, distant, and temperamental, but not out of malice. The truth is, Arlessa is deeply unhappy. She goes through the motions of being the Ducha of Harterra, a cold and ruthless lady of Hapes, but her heart isn't in it. She is still trapped in the dark shadow of her mother, the late Secciah Khal, whose towering ambition to make House Khal into royalty has been hammered into Arlessa for her entire life. Even now that her mother is dead, Arlessa still longs to please her, clinging to the idea of honoring her memory by fulfilling her greatest wish. Though she is capable of acts of great love and self-sacrifice, especially for her son, Arlessa does them seemingly without warmth or joy. Her love is care without comfort. Far from being evil or cruel, she tends to be insensitive to others' feelings. She is usually well-intentioned, but her blind devotion to honoring her mother's dream will inevitably end with her doing more harm than good.

Biography:
Arlessa Khal was born on Harterra, the third daughter of Secciah Khal, the formidable Ducha of Harterra. Secciah had once been a celebrated military commander, but a devastating battle wound left her permanently disfigured. Retreating from public life, she turned her attention inward - to her family, her legacy, and the future of House Khal.

Her daughters were raised not simply as nobles, but as instruments of ambition. Secciah envisioned a destiny for her house that went far beyond regional influence. Each child was molded toward that goal. Lenore and Mirella, the elder daughters, were groomed for political prominence and quickly fell into a bitter rivalry as they struggled for their mother's approval. Arlessa, however, proved different. When her Force sensitivity manifested, she was sent away to train with the Sibsi, an elite order within Hapan society.

For Arlessa, the Sibsi became both a refuge and a revelation. Freed from the suffocating expectations of court life, she immersed herself in study and invention. Communications systems fascinated her in particular; the invisible threads that connected ships, worlds, and civilizations across vast distances. With the Sibsi’s blessing, she pursued both her Force training and her scientific passions, eventually rising to the rank of Balzarg, one of the highest positions within the order.

In her twenty-fifth year, Arlessa’s life changed in two profound and conflicting ways. Her sister Lenore was murdered by her own husband, Kalen, a scandal that sent shockwaves through Hapan nobility. In the same year, Arlessa gave birth to a son, Ben Khal. Holding her child for the first time altered something within her. For perhaps the first time in her life, she felt a sense of purpose that did not come from her mother's expectations.

Secciah, however, saw something else: opportunity. With Lenore dead and Mirella’s ambitions uncertain, Arlessa suddenly became far more important to her mother’s plans. She was summoned back to Harterra, officially so that she could raise her son within the protection and support of House Khal. The truth was far less sentimental. Secciah had lost a daughter, and she intended to make full use of the one who remained.

Now, as the Ducha of Harterra, Arlessa Khal carries the weight of House Khal with quiet authority. She has expanded her influence not only through her position but also through her inventions, pioneering communications technologies, droids, and advanced AI that place her among Hapes’ most formidable minds. Yet despite her brilliance and prestige, Arlessa remains emotionally reserved, careful never to form attachments that could leave her vulnerable. The memory of a "lost" lover lingers as a warning she cannot ignore. Even with her son Ben grown, she loves through action rather than warmth, shaping his future with guidance and protection while keeping her heart at a measured distance. In public, she is the consummate noblewoman: commanding, brilliant, and unyielding. In private, she is a woman defined by duty, intellect, and the quiet ache of a life lived in the shadow of loss.
