OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet Name: Argaloh
  • Demonym: Argalohans
    • Pureblood Arkanians on the world despise being called Argalohans as they feel it demeans them and will both impulsively tell the being they should call them an Arkanian and also begin plotting their demise/economic ruin for the perceived insult.
  • Region: Colonies
  • System Name: Perave
  • System Features:
    • Star - Olim
    • Moons - None
    • Asteroid Belt - Alok Mining Field
    • Orbital Position - Second Planet
    • Rotational Period - 15 Galactic Standard Hours
    • Orbital Period - 243 Galactic Standard Days
    • Arkania
  • Location: Located in the same hex as Arkania, technically would be in the same dot as it is in the same system
  • Major Imports:
    • Food Supplies
    • Water
    • Mining Equipment
    • Environmental Technology
  • Major Exports: All exports are routed through Arkania or through individual mining corporations to customers (with a customs tax for the Dominion)
  • Unexploited Resources: None
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: Half Standard
  • Climate: Unstably Hot
  • Primary Terrain:
    • Craglands
    • Lava Fields
  • Atmosphere: Type III
    • Due to the damage done to the planet in the mining efforts, both past and present, heavy environmental equipment is required to operate on the surface of Argaloh.
LOCATION INFORMATION
  • Capital City: Alok's Delve
    • While technically serving as the "capital" for Argaloh, Alok's Delve is mostly a mining and smelting settlement for the various ores that are mined from the planet. Describing the settlement as a city, either by size or population, would be stretching the definition, but it is the only settlement on the world with a major spaceport.
    • Population - Roughly 40,000 residents
  • Planetary Features: The planet is mostly barren, what parts of the planet that weren't shattered that is, but it is dotted with various mining camps owned by the corporations. Depending on the corporation, these can take different appearances and have a varied quality of operation
  • Major Locations:
    • Argaloh's Forge - Located on the outskirts of Alok's Delve, Argaloh's Forge is a sprawling complex of smelters for the ores recovered by the mining teams on world. The facility itself is directly controlled by the local Dominion magistrate, while the various corporations on world rent various stretches of the complex for their use. Several corporations have preferred status in the facility and have been allowed to operate small private docking facilities.

    • The Spike - While the facility is technically called the Dominion Processing and Recycling Center, many of the miners have dubbed the large atmospheric machine maintaining the thin atmosphere of Argaloh the Spike due to its appearance. The Spike is located in the damaged portion of the planet and acts as part atmosphere generator, part skyhook, and part mining station as the lower levels draw in raw magma from the exposed mantle for processing. Much of what the facility processes is sent directly to Arkania for the Dominion's personal use, and with the current galactic conflicts and agreements, portions of the extracted materials are being sent to Corellia.
    • The Scar - An unimaginative name for it, but fitting all the same, the Scar is the damaged portion of the planet that was result of the Galactic Empire's mining efforts in the previous centuries. Much of the region is exposed mantle and magma core, but it does provide easier access to melted down metals and ores that can be extracted, much of that activity passing through the Spike.
    • Arkoh's Shadow - A small unassuming "mining" settlement in the southern hemisphere of the planet, the town of Arkoh's Shadow is a haven for ore smugglers and other criminal elements that see a way to profit from the operations on the planet. Most of their activities are ignored by the local Dominion administrator, as long as a suitable amount of credits are sent back to the magistrate as "convenience and customs fees." Miners also enjoy coming the town in their downtime if they are operating in the region for the cheaply provided liquor and gambling.
      • Population - Roughly 2,500 residents

POPULATION
  • Native Species: None that were recorded by the Arkanian Dominion when they first achieved space flight within their own planetary system
  • Immigrated Species:
  • Population: Sparse
  • Demographics:
    • Arkanians - 10%
    • Arkanian Offshoots - 22%
    • Yaka - 28%
    • Various other species - 40%
  • Primary Languages:
    • Galactic Basic
    • Arkanian
  • Culture:
    • Much of the daily life for most beings on Argaloh are centered around their mining duties, with most miners employed directly by the Dominion working ten-hour shifts at the various smelting, mining, and processing centers. When in their off hours, it is not uncommon for the miners to congregate in the various cantinas and other recreational facilities in Alok's Delve to relax after a long day of work.
    • For the pureblooded Arkanians in the system, however, they have a much easier time and greater chances to pursue other activities. Many of the purebloods on world act as the various administrators for the Dominion or the local executives of some of the corporations. In parts of Alok's Delve that cater to them, they have access to more refined tastes, well as refined as a mining world can offer.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: Corporate Meritocracy under the Arkanian Dominion
  • Affiliation:
    • Intragalactic Level - Galactic Alliance at present
    • System Level - Arkanian Dominion
  • Wealth: Medium
    • Much of the planet's wealth is transferred to Arkania or to the various mining corporations that operate on the planet, but enough is kept within the planetary coffers of the local magistrate to maintain and improve infrastructure at Alok's Delve and the Spike.
  • Stability: Medium
    • While there might occasionally be miner strikes or the occasional ore smuggling operation, the planet is mostly a stable system due to the relatively low number of beings on the planet.
  • Freedom & Oppression:
    • The planet is relatively free, about as free as most planets currently within the Galactic Alliance and its system of laws. The Arkanian Dominion does maintain a slightly firm control over the system and is very thorough about making sure any customs fees and license costs are collected, both from the corporations and the individual miners if they are not covered by their employer.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: The Dominion maintains some local policing and security forces on planet, mostly centered around Alok's Delve with uniformed officers and security droids. The local corporations are also permitted to obtain licenses through the local magistrate's office to maintain independent security forces for their various operations.
  • Technology: Galactic Standard
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Discovered soon after the Arkanians were able to achieve inter-system space flight, the planet that would become known as Argaloh was discovered to have significant deposits of minerals and ores within its crust. Designated AD-02, mining companies on Arkania took an interest in the planet, shepherded by the newly established House of Adasca, and began establishing some minor operations on the planet to help their homeworld's continued prosperity. For the most part, the planet was only ever a background concern for the government of Arkania as much of their society was shifting towards the genetic sciences and exploiting their homeworld's expansive diamond resources.

Significant mining operations would not begin on the world until around the time of the Mandalorian Wars, with the rise of Lord Arkoh as leader of Adascorp. Arkoh, with his outsized influence over the Arkanian Dominion's leadership through his company, took a controlling interest in AD-02 and renamed it after his grandfather. Utilizing some of his resources that were not tied up into his Project Black Harvest, Arkoh established the town of Alok's Delve to act as an administrative hub for all mining operations on the planet and to have localized smelting facilities. Operations on the world would rise and fall over the centuries, with many of them falling out of Adascorp's control once Arkoh was killed and the Dominion itself took on the administrative operations.

During the rise of the Galactic Empire, the Imperials took a sizable interest in Argaloh due to its deposits of doonium. Not informing the Arkanian Dominion of their reasons for wanting to acquire as much of the material as they could, they Imperialized operations and proceeded to both strip mine the planet and deploy some sort of planet cracking technology to tear away chunks of the planet to more easily access the minerals. Once the Empire collapsed, the Arkanians quickly retook control of the world and turned their technological expertise to trying to preserve it as best they could. Using generators much like could be found on Kessel and other low atmosphere worlds, the planet was able to sustain a thin breathable atmosphere for the miners until the Gulag Virus came along. Operations were abandoned and the atmosphere bled away until it was a floating rock, with the Arkanians retreating back to their homeworld to try and stave off further spread of the virus.

In recent years, the Dominion established a state-of-the-art atmospheric facility to rebuild the atmosphere of the planet and re-established Alok's Delve to once again begin ramping up mining operations in the damaged portions of the planet and the still intact regions. With the ongoing conflicts engulfing the galaxy, and their agreement with Corellia, they have begun exporting some of their mined minerals to their allies.

We love a good mining world, and this one makes good sense given Arkanian corporate history. There are just a few things we need to fix before I go ahead and approve this.

  • Demonym: Arkanian is the demonym for Arkania, so we need a unique one for this planet. What adjective would you use to describe ore that is exported from here? Argalohi? Argalohan? Argalohian? Argalohite? Up to you, but pick something specifically for this world.

  • System Name: Please link the system again here, since it's canon.

  • System Features: You mention the local star and Argaloh's orbital position, but if this is in the same system as Arkania, there ought to be a mention of Arkania - and any other potentially relevant planets in the system - in this section.

  • Major Locations: I recognize that this is a largely unsettled world with no native species or cultures, but it'd still be nice to see more than two major locations. This is an entire planet. Are there any notable mountain ranges, valleys, craters, mining disaster sites, smugglers' dens, anything that could flesh this place out a bit more? Optional, but it'd be nice.

If you have any questions or need any help, please feel free to reach out.

Changed the demonym, added the links, and two more locations for the Major Locations

I didn't add in mention of Arkania to the System Features because I want to eventually do a full System submission with a few more planets and stuff I haven't subbed yet and I don't want to keep having to pull out submissions to edit that section every time I sub something new until the whole "project" is done.

The changes look good. I can understand not adding all potential planets to System Features if you're planning a system sub, but Arkania is a canon feature of this canon system, so I don't see the presence of Arkania changing. Please add Arkania (linked) to System Features. You don't have to say what its orbital position is, or anything, but please note that it's there.

After that, we're good to go.
