Faction Ardasa, Where Devils Play | CIS Witches & Friends

10KNjyj.jpg

Kûts Tuti Roti Ri Nayasa...
Death Is Merely The Beginning...

THE EYE tore open THE VEIL
and monsters fell upon the
valiant KNIGHTS OBSIDIAN.
While the survivors regroup
new threats emerge from the
shadows.

THE HEALERS OF THE NEW
ORDER have spread a plague
among the hapless. AGENTS
have begun to unravel the
mystery of these cultists, but
none yet know their purpose.

A NETHER SCREAM now sounds
from a remote forgotten world,
ARDASA. Brave CONFEDERATES
race to discover the cause. Will
they prevent disaster or seek

to bolster their own power?

Ardasa is a remote world on the fringes of the Confederacy of Independent Systems' territory. Little is known except for its galactic coordinates documented by the surveying probe over three hundred years ago. Those that seek to investigate the spiritual cry -- or those that find themselves drawn into the web by chance -- will know not the tempest they fall into.

A multitude of creatures creep across the skin of the red world they call home. Each has their own agenda, allegiances, and nemeses. It is a world of strife, conflict, bloodshed, and death; yet a brave soul can find well-established fortresses of solitude where ordinary people go about their business. While not a world participating in galactic trade, and bereft of most of the greatest technological advances of other worlds, the bare necessities are provided for -- all save one. Food. That is where Ardasa's endless strife comes from, and how it can never end.

Make certain you don't become someone's -- or something's -- next meal.

Asher had come out of his hiding at the request of the Nightmother. It had been a long time sine he took requests from this new order among the Confederacy. They did not follow the same spirit which had claimed him, the one that had marked him with the patterned scars that ran down his shoulder and around his arm. A smirk tugged at his lips, knowing that it did not matter how far he went, the spirit of Lylek still spoke with him, used him as a connection to the natural world. It was an odd relationship, but it was his only saving grace in an otherwise lonely existence.
This world they had set foot on was dark. The former Mandragora could feel the energy seeping from the very surface of the planet. There were warring factions, or so he had been told. The mission itself was unclear. Knowing the Nightmother it would reveal itself soon enough. She was a puzzle to him sometimes. There was always a reason or a motive that would come to light about why she chose the things she did. In many ways, Asher found himself curious about the woman, though he would never admit it.
His boots set foot on the soil, along with another he had brought with him. They had recently met at Raven's Point. Asher remained secluded at the library most days with his dragon. While he was lost as to his role among the new order, Asher knew that Raven's Point was his to care for. Sure, it had been a gift to all the witches, but it Asher had been the one it had been given to, he had been tasked to deliver the news.
This witch, she was different, outgoing, demanding in what she wanted. Perhaps that was a wrong assessment, but it was his. Vanya Aklin Vanya Aklin knew what she wanted, that much was at least true.
"I do not know why we are here, just that the Nightmother wanted us here. You will meet her soon. She will certainly be interested in you."

Wind played with tendrils as dark as the raven's wing as the first steps were taken toward their destination. Lungs drew breath deep, so that she could taste the air, the scents, on her tongue. A mixture of emotions moved through the woman but she was unwavering, unfaltering in the face of the unknown. When the request had been received - the Nightmother - there had been a moment when time and space stood still. Memories taunted her; momentos of a time and a place left behind. She had hesitated, a split second, a moment, before fire had ignited the Nightsisters soul. Perhaps she should have refused - she was under an obligation to no one.

But loyalty to the Coven, to the Nightsisters, to Dathomir, ran through her veins as surely as blood did. There was another reason for her presence, one that time had not revealed in its entirety. The crunch of his footsteps at her side enticed her to look at him with an unwavering intensity. There was a curiosity. He was a curiosity. "People always are." There was a cockiness in her tone, a certain knowing, as she continued forward, obsidian eyes blinking and soon looking away from him. Vanya was a prestige, a woman of renown. It had stopped coming as a surprise when others took an interest in her. She relished in the recognition. Her lips pulled into a smirk, the notion to laugh bubbling in her throat. "You certainly were."

"Not all people," despite the fact that the conversation had not been directed at her, Telula took the liberty of stating her opinion over the matter regardless. It was not said rudely however. Despite the young blonde's new demeanor, she still had yet to master the tone and conviction required to be rude to others. It was merely a statement made, and nothing more. Lula was perhaps one of few not interested in the dark haired woman, but that was nothing personal against her. There were very few people she actually took interest in, and those numbers dwindled daily. She preferred wild life over humanoid, every day of the week.

She had been quiet throughout most of the trip, though now that the lot had stepped foot on their destination, there was no need to remain silent. Though the color of her eyes was washed out in white, and her galek hound, Kai was just ahead of not only her, but the others now as well. He too seemed to have no color to his eyes, though the pair could see just fine at the moment. Over time, Lula had learned not only the ability to meld minds with some creatures, but in cases like Kai, she was able to see through him, control him, and now was no longer immobile while doing as such.

At the moment, Kai was her eyes, and she was using him to scout only a short ways around. Never out of sight of the group, or far enough away to cause problems for the landing party. Nothing immediately called for attention, but Lula knew all too well that, that could change in the literal blink of an eye. Still, she blinked the color back to her eyes and sighed slowly through her nose as the hound turned about and mulled his way right back to her.

Like the others, Lula had no idea what was going on, or what exactly they would be doing here. But, that had never stopped her before in past endeavors, so why would it stop her now?

The twilight of the world cast a host of shadows from every rock, tree, or ruin that dotted the land. The gloom suspended in the air became to coalesce into a form that gradually moved toward the group. It grew in definition and solidity as it neared; taking on a humanoid figure before the dark fog part and form it strode the Pale Witch, Nightmother Vytal Noctural.

She stopped shortly after her appearance while her green eyes swept over those present. A small smile graced her lips in the moment. "Welcome to Ardasa. Come. Let me introduce you to the world before we speak of purpose or intent." Her eyes lingered on Vanya a second longer than the rest as she spoke. One Nightsister knew another. It was an upbringing unlike any other. No matter how many similarities existed with other cultures, there were differences no other matched.

Vytal, however, did not pause to introduce herself. Strike while the iron was hot, and those milling about in danger of being noticed needed to be prepared. What better way to help their understanding than by demonstration? The tattooed woman turned and strode away from the group from the direction she'd appeared. A slight wave of the hand beckoned them.

It was a short trek with a slight incline through some trees. They could ask questions, and she might give them answers. Whether they were satisfactory answers depended on the question. If it spoiled the surprise, then Vytal would side-step a direct response as WItches were renown for doing.

As they cleared the trees, the Pale Witch dropped down into a crouch and gestured for the rest to do the same. Just over the edge of the precise they stood on was a valley where small bands of humanoid creatures fought. Some appeared human-like, while others sported easily defined features that were not common among the Human species -- horns, tails, wings, and fur to name a few. Those of a kind seemed to band together and stood opposed to certain groups while ignoring or possibly allied with others.

Vytal turned to look back at the group. She spoke loud enough for them to hear, but not arrogantly assuming none might notice, "There are no 'legends' on Dathomir," that being of terrifying beasts that did not exist, but was used to frighten the young, "but I have heard many other cultures possess such things. Here you will find many of them, and almost every one will gladly kill you given the chance."

"A strange ripple in the Nether came from this world lost among the stars, untouched by the galaxy it seems. There is a nexus of some kind here. A concentration of power. I believe one of these factions intends to use it though I do not know to what purpose."
Vytal regarded each of those present in turn. "Fortunately there is time. Time enough to study and understand before we must act." To rush head-long into the midst might only get them killed before coming close to the source of the disturbance.

After she slipped back from the edge, the Witch turned to fix her eyes on Vanya Aklin Vanya Aklin in particular. "Greetings, Sister. I am Vytal Noctura. It is good you are here. Opportunities such as these are why some of us came to the stars -- even if their yellow suns are harsher on the eyes." With the world introduced to the group, it was high time the woman introduced herself to those new among their number.

"Asher, Lula," Vytal nodded to them and any others that were with them in turn. "This world is larger and more dangerous than any Sister or Brother should explore on their own. I am pleased you were all able to come."

Cutting through the clouds entering the atmosphere..A two seated fighter assault vehicled named "Cotter A-87" Hums quietly..atleast for a fighter vehicle its proportioned size. Behind The frost tinted aeroplex glass made for space travel, Valah Hagen sets coordinates towards the location of a supposed energy resource that could provide valuable fuel for a project back on Naboo. "Here we are....Next time i bring the researcher with me...Should have been able to avoid the asteroid field with ease...Ok now..let's see...Thrusters...low power..shields up..Easy easy...Med kit..explorers pack...sample vials..good to go." The Cotter zooms through the skies approaching a clearing in an open field near a cliff. "No Incoming transmissions..no interference..I should be ok..." She lands and exits the ramp taking in the sights around her. She equips a basic utility belt and adjusts her robe ready to explore. "There is an abundance of life here..I can feel it...According to the archives..Not friendly.."

As she steps forward. In observance of the atmosphere she crouches down. She collects a sample of the red dirt under her foot, placing it in a vile while feeling the gradient texture. She Then moves on honing her senses and focusing though the force for any sources of energy nearby.

Damien had no idea why they were on the planet, nor did he care. He went where he was told. Even though Lula have him more freedom than what he had been used to on Dathomir, the lupine found himself often following her lead when it came to the missions they found themselves on. Ever since she had taken him out to practice her wargging, Damien had never been too far from her side. She finally knew the truth about him, the fact he was a wolf. This was something the Nightmother had already known, and for some reason it seemed important that Lula know it too.
A chuckle escaped his mouth when she interjected the comment directed at the other witch. Had Damien not known her better it would have seemed rude, but Lula was more interested in animals than people. Damien was both, which was why he knew he held her interest at times.
He waited for the nightmother to explain why they were there. Another chuckle escaped his lips.
"I am a creature of legend and stories," Damien laughed as he looked to Lula.
It seemed the nightmother was interested in Vanya, or meeting her. Damien took the time to get close to the blonde and taking her hand he offered her a smile. He leaned close as he began to whisper.
"Be careful what you choose to warg here... I don't like what I am feeling."

"You certainly were."
Asher smirked. He certainly had been. Too much time had passed since had heard from or seen Alvida. She had been a sorceress from his home world, not the one he thought he came from, but his true home. The All-Father had given him a mission to help blend their world with the things he had learned of the galaxy. Every experience he had from the death of his wife and child, to his training in the force, had all been a design of that charge. Even the scars on his arm which were evidence that another spirit had claimed him.
Lylek did not like his connection to the All-Father, and the more time Asher spent away from his home the more that connection faded. Once again Asher had felt alone. It had been him, his dragon, and the voice of the spirit, until the day Vanya Aklin Vanya Aklin arrived at Raven's Point. Her interest in the artifacts and the repository of magic and knowledge which Asher had taken upon himself to maintain, had led to a mutual interest in her. Vanya was unlike any witch Asher had met before and yet reminded him of the previous Nightmother, Katrine.
Her words did not seem to imply that particular interest however. The tone of her voice was one of amusement, and if the man had to guess, she was flirting with him.
His reply was cut short by another interjecting. Asher did not know how to take the comment so he let it slide as his attention turned away from the woman and back to Vanya.
"I was not the only to take interest in the other that day," his retort came before Vytal Noctura Vytal Noctura began to speak.
His eyes moved to hers. They did not need to greet each other as they had a certain understanding. His order had been one that was different, and while Asher connected to a spirit of that order, he was loyal to the woman that led the witches now. His place in the field had been long overdue, and had it not been for his desire to introduce Vanya to Vytal, he likely would have remained on Ryloth.
They were there for research, and the world was dangerous.
Perfect.
Be careful of this place shaman. There are things here that will devour you. The shadows are full of terror.
The voice of Lylek interrupted his thoughts. He often wondered if the others that communed with the spirits could sense of fell his presence when the beast spirit spoke to Asher. They were connected in a way that was beyond simple magick, and why he had been chosen the warlock would never understand. The response was short in his own mind. Asher would be careful.
"I believe I saw some ruins a few clicks ahead before we landed. If there are those who would like to join me, I will be making my way to see what I can discern of them."
Eyes fell to the dark haired witch with a question behind them. Would she join him?

Within the absolute void of despair, even the feintest spark of hope is a supernova.
Felix had been told stories of the fabled witches of Dathomir since he had entered the Knights Obsidian, mysterious wayward force users whom wielded magic as an ancient arcane religious rite as opposed to the more meditative spiritual practice of other cultures. They were the shadows of a bygone era who by sheer force of will, had struggled, clawed and torn their crevasse in the modern world permeating their stay while simultaneously immortalizing their legacy as few could hope to achieve given triple the time, numbers and prestige. The stories had fascinated him, their abilities to raise the dead and weave illusions with the serene grace of rolling waves or smoke dancing on the wind. He'd always thought the stories fanciful, yet here he was, standing amidst several Witch Elders whose names had been whispered for fear of reprimand or consequence.
Felix would be wearing his usual attire, the Jacket and lower portions of the Knights Obsidian Project Garuda Armour. An armour weave slick leather coat layered with some lightly armoured pieces which kept the suit lithe and flexible for the speedy fighter. A harness moved around his waist with a gilded antique saber clinging to it tightly as his left arm appeared a little heavier armoured than the rest of him wreathed in pristine polished ultrachrome. His clothing and armour pressed, perfect and unmarred by the dirt or dust of the world as it seemed to simply fail to settle on the noble scion.
The stories could not hope to capture the true breadth and gravitas the presence of these witches commanded, the Night Mother amongst them stood though not in stature but in spirit a head and a half above the others. Felix found himself entranced by these men and women as he allowed himself to stay quiet. He had no mind to interrupt their greetings, keeping to the periphery of the group but electing to move with them as they began to stalk through a nearby woods, teetering over the edge of a nearby gulf to spy monsters of legend embroiled in conflict with humanoids far below. He would move to the edge, kneeling so to keep a low profile as he attempted to get a gauge on what manner of monsters they seemed to be, though for the life of him he had not come across anything similar in his studies of galactic biology.
"What are they...?" The words breathed more than spoken escaping his lips, not intending for him to receive an answer, but also one of the others began to speak, talking of ruins that appeared to be some distance away, calling for others who might want to join him in the search for something interesting. Felix would have to dwell on the prospect, unsure of what the mission would entail. However, he had a series of skills that were not often natural to these dark-side wielders. He was certain a creature like him may be able to prove useful if given the chance.
"I wouldn't mind accompanying you. If you'd have me." He'd speak with no small degree of confidence, not sure how it would be taken, he was not among equals here... he wasn't certain that he was even among friends. The well-to-do noble screamed by method of his attire, stature and general demeanor as one who had been fed with a silver spoon. Yet he didn't cower or flinch from those around them as they moved, allowing his eyes to not dart to and fro at the slightest movement in his periphery... a sign that he wasn't at alert around them, not afraid of the mythic force users. Other than the Night Mother... try as he might, he was still human.
But Felix would eagerly await an answer, hoping for an affirmative, because unless he was accepted now, he had a feeling he would likely be wondering this horror stricken planet alone.

The expression worn by the Nightsister was uncharacteristic and friendly when his response was spoken. And although the other woman's words, Lula she had been called, were heard, the sarcastic response had died on Vanya's tongue as a laugh bloomed, just for a moment. No, he had not been the only one interested that day. It may have been visions gifted from Vahl that revealed Asher to the Nightsister but it was the man himself who fascinated her. And the reservoir of magick, the collection of artefacts, the dragon, only added to the burning of her soul for more. Even now the sensation of delicate pages sliding between her fingers as she read from age-worn tome, of the the nexus of energy permeating every one of her senses, enticed shivers down her spine. And more still had there been. Each day spent in the grand study she had sought him out, watching from across the room.

In the beginning she regarded him with a mild interest, scrutinising everything said or done, judging. But as day bled to night and moon to sun it had become more; watching him simply for the pleasure of it, noticing the way the fabric of clothing moved against his skin, the scent of him would have her head turning to find him. It had become enjoying his company and coming to expect his presence. Though no words had been spoken on the matter, it seemed there were ties binding them already. It was not that the woman was lonely nor desperate for affection, no, she had a close circle of individuals that could satisfy those whims. It was something more.

Attention moved to the Nightmother, her interest piqued by the Pale Witch, as their attention was directed to the beasts below. There was certainly a familiarity between them - a Nightsister would always know, would always find those alike no matter space and distance. This was their way of life, the lessons instilled within them beneath the red skies of Dathomir. Vytal, as she introduced herself, was peculiar to the tattooed Nightsister. Not for any reason that could be considered bad. But because she was different. Vytal was not like the Nightmother she had once served, though that seemed had been some time ago. The Pale Witch seemed more welcoming, more approachable, but not any less powerful. And it was for all of these reasons, her mutual respect for Vytal, her interest in Asher, that the tattooed woman did not take her leave in that moment.

Instead she remained. Obsidian eyes watched the gathered beasts that were unfamiliar and strange but not nearly as terrifying when compared to what lurked upon Dathomir. Fingers caressed absent-mindedly along the saber hilts at her hip, stirring memories of how each had been obtained; the scorching flames, the undead rancor. No, there were no legends on Dathomir. Vanya lingered a moment longer at the edge of that precipice, reaching out through the Force to feel the nexus the Nightmother spoke of; musing over how it drew her in, called to her, reminded her of home, of Dathomir. "Their suns do take time to adjust too, Sister. As do their strange customs." She has not addressed her as Nightmother her. Not yet. Though there was a mutual respect between them it had not been decided what would happen when this day was done.

And although answers to questions had not been given, and uncertainty still lingered, Vanya would stay and see this journey though. Attention returned on once more to Asher and a certain knowing look was shared; a silent conversation. The question in Asher's eyes was seen and recognised, her own narrowing in playful response. Vanya took a moment to look him over, from head to toe, subtly non-existent, and when they returned to his own, spoke a reply. Do not ask questions you know the answer to.

She allowed a moment to look at Felix Aquila Felix Aquila , acknowledging that he would be accompanying herself and Asher, and whoever else decided to join. "We should leave soon, while our presence is still relevantly unknown." Each of them had been well rested, and with much area to cover and little about the planet known the Nightsister had not wanted to waste time.

The appearance of the Nightmother was always a spectacle to witness. The ability to flit through the shadows was something Telula had once wanted to learn for herself, but considering the concentration it took just to Warg with the creatures she did? She couldn't imagine trying to do both - yet. Despite the flex in her ability with creatures, the blonde was still young and still had a lot to learn, and was aware of the fact.

So she was not only thankful for the presence of the others even if she wasn't the most comfortable around them, but she was most certainly thankful to have Damien around as well. When he stepped close enough to take her hand, Lula's fingers laced with his and she sighed out slowly. "Please make sure I don't bite off more than I can chew..." One thing about the Warging, Lula like to push her boundaries. To see how much she could handle before her capabilities teetered out and left her floundering. "Can't risk that here."

Lula could feel it too, the way this place felt. The push and pull of life - if you could call it that. It caused her to shudder and her grip on Damien's hand flexed in reaction. It seemed the others had an idea of where they wanted to go and what they wanted to do, but personally the blonde witch wanted to wait and see what the Nightmother thought and/or suggested before she agreed to any one direction.

Continuing onward using her senses she can feel something odd is looming around her. Several life forms, but at this point it was overwhelming. She stops suddenly as multiple thoughts ran through her mind. Was it someone or something she detected? (Focus..Valah...Breathe..remember your training..what little you have received...The force is within you..Will not put on you more than you can bare) She told herself as a slight breeze swept across her face. As she closes her eyes suddenly she can feel there are other force sensitve beings nearby..

Vytal's green eyes slid over to Asher as the shaman spoke. A small smile perched upon her lips. Perhaps some day they would speak at length. So far their conversations had been somewhat short. She hoped he did not feel as though he were forced to remain at Raven's Point, and that there were enough Sisters and Brothers to keep him company. After all, the place was the Solanaceae's Vault. The Vault. Where everything truly dangerous or powerful in their possession resided. The one everyone was told was actually beneath the Castle on Ryloth. What better way to protect something than misdirection? Just enough truth to be believable. Oh, and the gateway between locations didn't hurt.

As for Lylek, well that was a Nightmother's secret unless asked. Vytal did hope Asher's dragon and her own kept one another occupied. They could be such demanding and vain creatures. Part of the charm.

She had be poised to respond to the man's question when another spoke up. A recent addition. Vytal's head turned and canted a bit to the side to regard the man for a moment. A strange sense of confidence and poise radiated from him. It was not entirely of arrogance or upbringing, however. No, someone of that ilk would have a haughty and overbearing swagger and stance -- someone accustomed to getting what they wanted when they wanted it. This one... Felix Aquila Felix Aquila had experienced hardship. It had not broken him even while it may have reshaped him.

Vanya Aklin Vanya Aklin responded and Vytal's attention was hers once more. There were those descended from Dathomir among the Solanaceae. Even others born of Dathomir, but they were not of 'large' number. It was a long, arduous journey. Some had been aided to come to Ryloth when the Sith were less amicable toward the red planet. Then Pom was given... representation of the world among the Sith. Once more the number drew to a trickle. The Nightmother did miss home even though allowed to visit it from time to time. "Many strange customs. The strangest being how accustomed they are to living in cities of iron." Though the gender equality especially in magick was strange, their audience wouldn't understand. "I hope we will have plenty of time to speak. Where you come from. What ensnares you among the stars. An invigorating if vexing galaxy we live in."

A passing glance was given to Telula Vale Telula Vale and Damien Van-Derveld . An interesting pair, but one that seemed inseparable whenever Vytal had seen them. Two that seemed to belong and supported one another. That the young man hailed form the same lineage as the former Nightmother -- whom Vytal remained quite cross with following the misadventure on Ryloth at the Altar of Spirits -- did not trouble her. He was not her son, and unless he demonstrated reason to think otherwise Damien appeared to be trustworthy.

"Ruins," her gaze turned back to Asher Mossa Asher Mossa , "are an excellent place to establish a camp and begin our study. Before we stray far, however, know there are several factions present. Most will be hostile to outsiders. They won't know which faction you belong to, or worse you may be one of those they revile most. There is one in particular... Though I can scarcely call them a 'faction.' Creatures of the Void, they are. Aspects of the Nether. Beings twisted by Dark Spirits from the other world. A single one is dangerous beyond measure and you should run if one finds you. Nothing good will come from interacting with them. You will know the creatures of which I speak the moment you lay eyes upon them."

"Shaman Mossa, I would be delighted to join you."
Vytal was harsh when she needed to be, cruel when they deserved it, but she tried being amicable otherwise. Difficult as it was at times, those not of Dathomir seemed to prefer 'a kind word' to the unvarnished truth. Too much idle time for them to worry about how things were said rather than what was said, but nothing Vytal could do to change that in a moment's time.

The presence of another was whispered to Vytal. She closed her eyes for a moment and slowly traced a symbol on her left forearm. You will find sanctuary with us. Will you join us on our way to the ruins? she sent telepathically to Valah Hagen Valah Hagen . Hearing voices often spooked people, but seeing how shouting would draw ravenous beats to them a Witch made do with what she had available.

"Do you sense any settlements near these ruins?" The Nightmother asked. Sure, she could ask the spirits, but if the spirits did all the work what would be the point of being alive? At least the living didn't try to lure you into spiritual traps to pass the eons. "I would be most concerned with a host of Undead. Their King's power has strong command over them. Usurping that control is extraordinarily difficult." Well, of course one Necromancer could turn or usurp another's risen dead. If there was a large enough different in skill, experience, or raw power. Such was no the case here. Likely their leader had quite some time to cement their hold. Troublesome.

What she'd learned so far was given freely so that the group could make decisions on their own. Some times a learning experience didn't need a teacher to tell people what to do, so much as to place them in a position to learn at their own pace. Some of life's best lessons came about from happenstance.

Hearing the dissonant yet comforting voice of another, she was relieved as she paused yet for a moment. She responds to Vytal Noctura Vytal Noctura "It would be a pleasure to accompany you and your party. I am on the way.." Telepathically and begins continuing onward down a hill. ((Ruins...If there are ruins here..perhaps within i will find some type of usable energy source or resources)) She thinks to herself. Not knowing what lie ahead did not scare her..Although taken off guard a bit...She was confident in her direction..She makes her way within moments into the Ruins..North of her location.

"Please make sure I don't bite off more than I can chew..."
"I would tell you not to warg if I thought you would listen to me... but since I know you won't..."
Damien did not finish the sentence as it seemed the others were moving away without them. The Nightmother seemed to speak about the issues they would face on the planet, or what to be careful of as they conducted their research. Damien was not too excited about the things he was hearing. He was a creature of the night, a thing of legend, but it seemed this world was full of things that would want to see him dead as well. In fact, the more he listened the more he wondered if his presence would put the rest of the group in danger.
It was a thought he expressed so only Lula could hear. His thoughts, his mind, pressed into hers.
<<"I am afraid that this is not a place I should be. If we travel with the group I may draw unwanted attention to it. Shall we go with the rest or not?"
It would be foolish to stray from them, but Damien was not concerned about that in the moment, it was primarily about their safety, keeping the numbers of the witches intact. There were two important members of the order on site, the nightmother and the shaman. They could not afford to ahve them both lost to them.
The decision was hers, and Damien would follow.

Asher had known for some time that the repository was never meant to be his cage, yet he remained there often. Even among the Mandragora, the shaman had remained outside the rest of camp and remained in solitude. He had always chosen to remain alone because for so long he did not feel as though he fit anywhere. Even the Lylek had chosen him, he spirit was one of shadow, and Asher remained there. It was rare that a stranger came to visit, but when Vanya had she was not unwelcome. The point was never meant to be hidden away from those who practiced their magicks. There were things which were hidden away there, and it was Asher who saw that they would never fall into the wrong hands. He was not lonely, but the time Vanya had spent at library with him had been a breath of fresh air.
His met those of the nightmother as she spoke. Warring factions were nothing new. There were many planets in the galaxy which had seen tehir share of turmoil. This world was new however, and there were things about it which only the Nightmother seemed to know. It did make Asher curious how she knew all these things, or what information she had their repository did not. He had learned long ago not to question Vytal's methods. While he did not understand them, they did produce results.
It seemed she felt the ruins would be a good base camp. That was if they were clear of any potential danger.
A new arrival spoke. Asher regarded the young man and took note of his curious attire. A Knight Obsidian had joined them then, and wished to join their crew. Vanya answered for the shaman. The raven haired witch seemed to know his mind on that matter. They had been told to stay together after all. This one was interesting as well, and Asher wished to get to know him.
He noded.
"Vanya is correct. If we are to make it there without attracting too much attention, then we should go now."
It seemed the Nightmother was in agreement, so as requested, Asher led the way. It would be a slow journey so as not to dray too much attention. When the arrived the ruins seemed to be deserted.
"An old city perhaps..."
His eyes moved over to Vanya's once more wondering if her curiosity would get the better of her. She seemed to be the sort that like to wander off and have her questions answered through her own exploration. The look in his eyes told her not to wander off too far, but he had a feeling she would not listen.
"...not a bad place for a camp after all."

As Vytal Noctura Vytal Noctura focused for a moment on Felix in his crouched position, he would meet the Gaze of the Nightmother... both unflinching and unwavering as the colour of his margarine orange eyes would muddy with red becoming like that of fire or burning coals. Not a sensation of aggression, but certainly one of apprehension as the light around his eyes would naturally bend with his moods. But it would seem that they would progressively redden from here on out, as it would seem that being alert at all times was to be expected on this force forsaken rock. Standing, he would look to the two who he had offered to accompany, neither one of them had spoken a word in response to his offer, it had simply been accepted, allowing Vanya Aklin Vanya Aklin to mention that they had better get going.
But they did not move to leave before one final warning from the Night Mother herself, she seemed to know of yet another creature that deemed to make places like this their home. They seemed like a nightmare, with little hope for them should they manage to encounter one. Yellow, a colour of fear in slivers would bathe within the reddening pond of the colour of his eyes before he would hope to make a mention. This woman was obviously wise, and more knowledgeable of this place, if not in general more than the rest of them. Felix took her at her word that fleeing would be the best course of action should they come across one. . . "It may not be my place, but, thank you... for your kind warning. It will be heeded." Felix would give a polite bow before turning on his heel and beginning to move with purpose with the others.
It would seem that the three of them were securing a camp, or a place to find respite at least, for lack of a better word. Felix would move with purpose as the group of them would make their way from the cliff to the signs of the ruins in the distance. If there are ruins here, it meant there must have been civilization at some point. The Noble could not help but wonder what it may have looked like where it not so dreadfully filled with angst. In the mean time as they moved Felix would bend the light around the group in an effect that would seem not unlike that of a mirage to others, fraying the edges of their forms so that they and the landscape around them would begin to blend in with one another, not to mention intercepting the sheen off of any metal that they carried on their person as they made their way across the cliff.
"Moving unnoticed is a specialty of mine... So long as that which hunts us sees with its eyes..." He would offer to Vanya as well as Asher Mossa Asher Mossa . "My name's Felix, of house Aquila, seeing as we may very well be risking our lives with one another, I thought it would be nice to get to know the people I may be dying beside."
Though as they reached the edge of the city, Felix would begin to look around the distortion field of light he was able to maintain with relative ease surrounded about ten meters around them in a sphere, thankfully due to the state of calm he was in, the meditative focus made it a little easier to maintain over long periods of time. Unlike the requirement to force it in a stressful scenario. The ruins themselves when the party of three had arrived appeared to be far more expansive than Felix would have guessed, he'd expected a former temple, village, the occasional ziggurat. But this was certainly some form of city.
"We're going to need to scout this place out for danger, I bet some of these buildings are more intact... however, at least in the wild, animals are drawn to sources of shelter..."
He'd allow his words of warning to hang in the air, lingering on the wind as his hand would slide to the hilt of his saberfoil, the cold steel nearby didn't put the man at ease, but it sure as hell made him feel more prepared for what would inevitably come.

Obsidian eyes turned once more toward Felix Aquila Felix Aquila when he had introduced himself, taking in the full length of his body as though she were judging him. And she was. She was amused that he thought they might die, and so her lips pulled into a smirk. The Nightmother's warnings had been heard loud and clear, their group was in grave danger on this planet, that much was a certain truth. But the Nightsister was not a woman who kowtowed to the unknown. She had faced the undead Rancor of Dathomir and lived. So, no, she was not afraid. Not of Death. Not of what lurked on this planet. "Vanya. Nightsister of Dathomir. And I have no plans of dying this day." Even if she were to die, nothing would fall-stall her return. Vahl would not allow it. "Since it seems that you expect as much to happen to you, I suppose it falls to others to protect you. Don't fall behind, Felix."

Her words were serious, a warning to the young man, though there had been a hint of playful banter buried beneath. The witch was not known for her kindness but was certainly protective of those in her company; fortunately for Felix, that included all present this day. Upon reaching the ruins her eyes met with Asher's once more, as though the thought of him being from her sight was unsettling to the witch. It was involuntary in many ways, her attraction to him; how she gravitated toward him, yearning for his presence, how her mind and body seemed in reach for his own. But her eyes narrowed at the caution seen in his, a challenge, daring him to speak the words allowed.

Vanya had understood his reason for cautioning her but did not appreciated the notion. If he thought her a woman who would obey the command of a man, who would be subservient to another, he was mistaken. She had been born and bred upon Dathomir, in a matriarchal society were the word of woman was law and males served. His intentions were honourable but her pride ran deep. Her attention left him without a reply, as though an act of rebellion, with the same defiance she had walked the halls of Raven's Point with during their first meeting, and strides were taken from the group. It had not mattered in that moment if he followed, only that her pride would not allow her to remain there at the moment.

And so she walked deeper into the ruins making no attempt to hide the darkness of her own aura to prevent them from following. Fingertips caressed along the stone surfaces, feeling the echoes of the Force, what had once been there, standing where the ruins now resided. Each brick held a story, spoke to her of what had happened here, the turmoil that had descended upon them and left them in their current state. Her exploration halted at the crunch of something beneath her foot. Bones, she had stepped on bones. Something had died here, been hunted and killed. Kneeling, Vanya had taken the remains, examined them; noted some were old, weather worn, and others were more recent, marked with teeth and claw. Even the air seemed pungent with something more than decay. With the Force had she gone searching, pinpointing where each of the others had been, searching for anything that might have poised a danger to them in that moment.

----------------

There was the lightest scoff from Telula in reaction to Damien's comment about her warging. She squeezed his hand and with her free one gestured to the Galek hound sticking dutifully just ahead of the pair of them. "Why do you think I brought Kai?" she quipped at him, lofting a brow. Now granted, that didn't mean that in a hairy situation the blonde witchling wouldn't reach out and try to tame some beastly thing set on killing them...it also didn't mean she would succeed. Still, she had brought the hound because slipping into Kai's mind was as easy as breathing, and it helped to curb her curiosity and desire to push herself when she shouldn't do so.

"Come on," she had started to follow along behind the others, listening intently, especially when the Nightmother had spoken up. But once again she was drawn back by Damien and this time she ceased in her following of the others and gave him her full focus. Strange how him reaching out to touch and speak to her mind no longer felt intrusive. And it was so easy to reach back and respond the same way.

<< "Well, separating from the group might not be a good idea, but we don't want to cause unnecessary predicaments either." >> She sighed and glanced towards the rest of the group for only a moment, then looked back to him. << "What can the two of us do instead? Somewhere away from the others, where we won't possibly bring them unwanted attention?" >>
