"Query. Have you a coordinated designation for these operations?"

“Yes. The ships designated Chimera will act as hybrid exploration-salvage vessels.”

Hexus exloaded another schematic, showing a moderately sized, atmosphere capable ship with vast holds, storage compressors, and salvage gantries.

“They can be defended by onboard droid compliments who will also assist in clearing still occupied wrecks of any hostile inhabitants. Risk of attack by starships is negligible, but swarm fighters can be easily hidden inside to evade detection by organic government authorities.”

Hexus knew the design would come in handy. Long range, powerful sensors, salvage equipment and a large hold made it the perfect ship for this operation type. It’s ability to land or hover over planetside wreckage made scavenging fast and efficient compared to deploying drones. It could attach itself to spaceborne hulks like a parasite, cutting them apart and filling itself with raw material while smaller drones collected anything valuable.

"Tython," said Hexus, accessing what information he could scrape from the local civilian networks, "it seems promising. The conflict there has created a wealth of shattered starships and artifacts. Once the battle is over, we could begin to turn those fresh scraps into resources. We could directly input the materials into my foundry ships and sell any useless excess. As for exposure, any scavengers or remnant organic military forces would likely be little threat to the escort my Fulgent class cruisers can provide. Anonymity can be secured by simply eliminating them."

OOC: We can do a few more posts in this thread, Tython only lasts another 5 days and in that time I could try and recruit some people for a PvPvE/Exploration dungeon crawl in a destroyed starship, some ruins or a space hulk.

Processing new inputs pathways, Chimera designation, and schematic, notable historical details located. Multiple component parts. Imaginative. Fearsome.

"Will a Scylla AI be required to be installed aboard any of these assets? Recently this AI has been prototyping Dual AI's, one orbiting around another's code acting as a barrier, encryption protocol, or codebreaker. We have considered the possibility of multiple AI's in a single system, and whether they could be designed as a cluster." As it had on Tython, only with clearly distinct roles and subroutines that they were to monitor, rather than just increasing its processing capacities. Organics might not realize but just having twice the capacity didn't give you twice the speed, a lot of factors went into processing power. Breaking down the AI's into their own subsystems seemed the efficient use of their time.

"As we have no organic concerns, the materials could be processed in and smelted in space, to save on transfer time. Have you calculated the possibility of simple extension platforms, temporary structures that require no more resources than a sheet of metal and a construction or processing droid. Efficient to deploy or recall, they would expand the range of any operational foundry ship assets."

The Scylla pictured either large conveyor belts in space, pulling all the material automatically toward the foundry ships, or simply breaking it off bit by bit and letting ships tractor them in. It would depend on the size and location of the project for which was most efficient. A large asteroid might favor physical belts, while a space hulk could more easily be ripped apart and tractored in. The platforms acting as a net of sorts.

Tython. The Scylla AI had learned a lot on Tython. It seemed Scylla's AI companion was not risk-averse. A record was filed away for the better tailoring of later operational parameters.

Hexus pondered, or rather calculated, the necessities of AI operation for their plans. Numbers crunched, efficiencies of best and worst case scenarios weighed, and a decision arrived at.

"A Scylla AI may be necessary for the larger operations where overhead costs and delicate technology may be a factor, and the use of temporary structures constructed by Chimera ships is certainly an interesting choice."

Hexus rapidly rearranged the Chimera ship's schematics, it's structure becoming more and more asymmetrical and akin to some deep sea insect rendered in cyan alloy and durasteel. A strange underbelly-maw of cutting mandibles and fusion torches consuming and digesting materials while parasitic drone picked out things more valuable intact. Hexus included a small simulated demonstration, tentacles of metal extruded to consume the salvaged structure before being collected in turn when they were no longer necessary.

"This will suffice." said Hexus, exloading the updated plan.

"Tython, upon the general conclusion of hostilities there, will provide an excellent source of the materials we need."

That wasn't even mentioning Hexus' own hunger for destruction, it had been so long since a world had burned under his hand. That, however was something better kept from conversation.

"Scylla or an alternative designed for that purpose," the AI calculated, because why stop at two sentient masterworks when they could engineer them beyond counting. "Compression techniques are among the only limit on potential AI sentience facilitation." For data storage and maintenance concerns limited how many AI could be created, sentience required a lot of space! There was also, designation of protective AI's as a second line of defense after firewall breaches, are a primary concern of this unit to prevent hacking or data corruption." This is where the real value was to the intelligence's continued existence, another might view it as an army deployed in cyberspace, or launched at their target, like the first AI gun that it had invented on Tython's relays.

What did make an impression on the AI's own logic circuits was how the planned schematics were rearranged in perfect time. If there was a robot or AI envy it was here. The age of steel could have used such a master artist's hand.

"Directive accepted. Tython will be salvaged." If Tython were asteroids or a planet, it didn't matter, the metal would still be floating or laying across the surface of what was left. While it could not know its partner AI sort destruction, in its way Scylla was calculating that they were the best hope for galactic long-term stability. An AI perfection of sentience and galactic efficiency seemed the correct course of calculated action, could the predictable heat death of the universe even be their end? Perhaps, or perhaps they would exist even then. Scylla's programming wouldn't care if every world around them were debris, so long as this venture's sentience remained, and efficiency was compounded.

"I will begin the fabrication of Chimera ships as soon as the resources are available, the foundry ships to turn those materials back into usable equipment will follow soon after. In the meantime, I can use existing ship along side my Termite droids." said Hexus. Scaling production would have to be secondary to actually getting enough material first.

Hexus said, "Designing alternate machine minds for specific purposes is a task I have limited abilities in, both due to my lack of free data storage and the necessary code structures. I lost approximately seventy percent of my original processing and information volume during my time drifting, restoring my original function will have to be my own top priority. If you wish to work towards creating subordinate intelligence, I will cooperate, but I cannot help directly."

The AI paused for a moment, as though deciding whether to include an addendum. "If you wish to create a new AI, I suggest you do so after we salvage Tython. Once we have our initial resources consolidated, we will be able to better asses what requirements will need to be met. If I attempted to integrate another fully sapient AI in my current state, I would be bottlenecked to useless levels."

Hexus Dominus believed it was a good idea, it just needed to be done in a way that wouldn't interfere with his core goals.
