II. Background

Arax Dorn is a human Sith acolyte, noted for her relentlessly brutal Machiavellianism, but also her remarkable martial prowess, particularly with the use of a lightsaber and in empty hand to hand combat. She began as a rogue Force User leading small raids into the criminal underworld, but eventually succumbed to the Dark Side due to bloodlust, the loss of her family and desensitization to violence.

Arax was born into a moderately prosperous family which owned several storefronts on the surface of the Planet Taris, where her parents weaned her on a childhood of books, private classes and classical arts. Growing up she learned the Echani martial art and would go on to be quite good at it, at one point holding the title of Taris Dueling Ring Champion for 3 years straight before being beaten by a Mandalorian journeyman. She was also privately schooled in galactic history, by no less than a minor Jedi librarian secretly contracted by her father to initiate her into the less explored archives of the past epochs. Under the corrupt librarian's guidance, she would come to know of the more arcane secrets of the Force, and awaken her own Force Sensitivity.

By her late teens, her curiosity had grown insatiable, and the grip of the Dark Side on her was growing, falling around her like a shroud that slowly shut the Light out. Arax would lead small raids into the Taris underworld, terrorizing Outcast villages, plundering criminal dens and ultimately being a thorn in the side of Taris' swoop bike gangs, namely the Hidden Beks and the Black Vulkars. This would eventually backfire however, as the gangs retaliated soon enough. At first it was just looting and sabotaging the family's businesses, but in time her parents and siblings became victims as well, falling to the gangs' violent hunger for retribution for the young Epicanthix's troublesome meddling in their operations.

Thus began the decline of Arax Dorn's mental stability. As she slipped into maddening grief, she fed her own rage and hunger for revenge, choosing to turn down the Taris government's assistance in the matter to take justice into her own hands. She disappeared into the underworld, and a year of unrelenting violence would ensue as she hunted down ringleaders of both the Beks and the Vulkars, as well as eliminating their families and close confidantes.

Now consumed by the Dark Side, she eventually resurfaced and returned to her Jedi tutor, whom she cut down as he slept by slitting his throat, and then proceeded to devour all the holo-books he'd up until then kept from her. There she discovered finally the arcane abilities of Force Use, the method of constructing and wielding a lightsaber, and ultimately, fell to the Sith Code.

She would never be seen in Tarisian society again.

STRENGTH: Arax is an Epicanthix, and thus highly resistant to mental/psychic attacks.

STRENGTH: Arax is a proficient combatant, able to tap into both Force ability and lightsaber in a fluid, personalized style that keeps pressure on her opponents until they buckle and she is able to exploit a crack in their defense.

WEAKNESS: Arax is illiterate in the way of blasters or ranged weaponry.

WEAKNESS: Due to an accident in her youth, Arax has a near-paralyzing fear of confined spaces, which can unsettle her and dislodge her from properly focusing/channeling her concentration into the proper use of Force abilities and hamper combat efficiency.
