- While not truly designed for anything beyond battle and bloodshed, Spiderbots are outfitted with a retractible omnitool able to open doors, tinker with simple mechanisms, carry small objects (such as land mines), and even serve as a scomp link!
- While integrated ranged armaments (vary by model, see "Armaments") remain a Spiderbot's primary weapon, their razor-sharp legs are designed to strike at gaps in armour with vicious efficiency in close quarters combat - while not quite as strong as, say, a proper vibrosword, they are devastating weapons nonetheless, at least if able to reach flesh. The one exception to this rule is the Lancer-pattern, which lacks this feature due to the stability requirements of its hefty particle blaster.
- Inhuman: Tireless, relentless, merciless, and utterly expendable, Spiderbots make ideal fodder for the furnace of war.
- Fearsmith: Under the assumption that an unnerved foe is a careless foe, Spiderbots were purposefully designed to be as uncanny as possible, their characteristic skittering supplemented by spider-like audio designed to evoke fear and disgust in most humanoids.
- Singleminded: Spiderbots are good at killing, but not much else - don't expect strategy, social skills, or nonmilitary uses.
- Disposable: While reasonably resilient to blasterfire, Spiderbots are designed for quantity over quality and should not be expected to emerge victorious in a confrontation with well-trained organics (let alone Jedi and the like) without weight of numbers on their side.
Unlike more "humanised" variants such as the B1 or indeed Draxin's own Custodians, Project Irontide set out to develop a cheap (at least as far as the basic model is concerned), effective, and above all else reliable alternative. Evaluated solely on combat performance and related factors, no effort whatsoever was made to make the model seem more "approachable", "sociable", or "anything but selectively homicidal".
Pragmatic to the core, its spider-like chassis is equally functional, the plethora of legs allowing it to navigate most kinds of terrain with ease, from foliage-filled ravines to the outside of starships, even as its durable nature keeps it safe from most natural hazards.
On even ground, its tireless mechanical nature generally allows it to keep pace with or outrun the average humanoid soldier.
