Water storage tank(3, 1 forward, 1 back, 1 central connecting the others)
High-power water vacuum
Internal cycling filtration system\
Flexible hose couplings(for fitting to water tanks)
Mesh screen(to block out larger debris)
Strengths:
- Exceedingly durable and resilient to punishment
- Can suck up water
- Can in an emergency spit out water
- Is slow
- Has few guns
- Has few fighters
- is not maneuverable
- Something really, REALLY big could get stuck in the vacuum
Yes, you read that right. It sucks water.
Long story short, the ship has four 'feet' containing repulsorlifts and ion thrusters. When on a planet, the repulsorlifts allow the ship to float over the surface of a large body of water - say, an ocean. The vacuum is then activated and a very large amount of water is sucked up into the ship. It is first put through filters which are regularly cycled out and cleaned every few minutes before being transferred to the ship's three main water storage tanks. The water is then stored for the ship's journey as it travels through the galaxy, occasionally landing at settlements and refilling their water stores. The combined internal capacity of the three tanks hold enough water to fulfill the daily water needs of over 150 billion sentients. As such, it is more than capable of resupplying the yearly water needs of dozens of smaller, isolated planetary settlements before needing to return to a planet with large bodies of water so it can refill and begin the cycle anew - for example, it could supply the yearly water needs of the entire population of Tatooine for over 2000 years. The process of filling up the water tanks takes several hours, as does the process of completely emptying the tanks. In an emergency, the tanks can be mass dumped through the vacuum in a few minutes, but this requires several minutes of preparation to remove all filters so they are not damaged by the backwash.
Water Suckers are currently used by DCMM to transfer monthly or yearly water supplies to various colonies in Sith, Neutral, and Commenor space that otherwise do not have access to a regular supply of drinking water. Consideration has been made to use them to create artificial reservoirs on planets potentially suited for colonization. They are typically found under escort given their limited armament, consisting of no capital ship weaponry and a smattering of antifighter weapons.
