So with the skirmish with Matsu finishing up and my own dev thread for the Barsen’Thor almost concluded, I’m of the opinion SSC should make a move.
Looking strategically, I see three directions we can go; North, West, South.
North:
In the old Primeval territory I don’t see anything much of interest except for Telos and Mirial. For now I would strongly argue against going this direction as it doesn’t gain us much. The Mandalorians and eventually One Sith could strike us here, and there’s not much of great strategic use.
South:
There are several custom worlds in this region which are worth taking. Foremost is:
Arda – created by Seydon, this planet is mostly a beach and jungle resort. Not strategically vital, but possibly useful.
Bayan – Potential Agri-World. Not hugely strategic, but possible for long term development.
Luria – Created by Coci, has potential as being a future exploration or trading world and for training Jedi too.
Sucellus –Made by [member="Judah Dashiell"]. This one is also quite developed and provides another good place to set up.
West:
This area is the most strategic area. Moving here puts us closer to the One Sith and Mandalorians, but also shields our more important worlds such as Ossus and our capital.
Boz Pity – Now the Hutt Cartel are dead, this is a good bridging point to move into Hutt Space if needed. It also gives good protection in shielding us from any southern advances by new forces.
Aargonar – This otherwise uninteresting desert world is in a vitally important spot. It covers Ossus and allows us to create a defense against Mandalorian or Sith incursion.
Centares – A more palatable alternative, a somewhat civilised planet with a population the wiki says is about 1 billion. It could serve the same role as Aargonar, but with the disadvantage of having to protect civilians if it’s attacked.
Nam Choros – Similar position to the two above, but with sentient crystals and a pretty grim surface. Again, a good bulwark against attack.
Charros IV - Factories and industrial capacity makes this useful for defence and production.
The Wheel – A space station which can be refitted to serve as a waystation. Of some use, but not useful as a permanent defence.
It is my view that we should move quickly on Aargonar, Centares or Nam Choros and fortify one of them against an expected assault. With the Sith attacking GR soon we can expect we will eventually be in the firing line.
After that, I suggest heading to one of those custom planets in the south…not fussed on which, as they have advantages for developing stories.
I do not suggest moving north except perhaps as a frontier. If we do that, I’d suggest that be done third.
I do not suggest we employ dominions above tier 1. The potential benefits are vastly outweighed at this moment by the potential issues which might arise.
I’m happy to hear suggestions, counter-offers and anything else people are interested in.
