  • Age: Unknown, at least several millennia.
  • Force Sensitivity: Master
  • Species: Spirit
  • Appearance: Apo'a Ile's appearance is subject to alteration over time to reflect the species inhabiting the Living Galaxy. Most recently she has assumed the form of a lithe, Human-like female with wings or a flowing garment those silken threads float on unseen and unfelt currents of wing reminiscent of wings. Shoulder-blade length golden hair flows from her crown with strands carried in the same imperceptible currents as her attire. Bright, blue eyes shimmer and sparkle with energy even in the dark; specks of light seem to swim in her eyes as they might in a fathomless pool of water. Apo'a Ile can often be found with a small smile on her lips, with a welcoming embrace soon to follow.

Her original appearance may have more closely resembled that of the serpentine Duinuogwuin countless years ago.

  • Name: Apo'a Ile (Paecian: "Dawn's Light"), Winged Goddess
  • Loyalties: Vytal Noctura, The Solanaceae
  • Wealth: N/A
  • Notable Possessions: Dimensional Palace in the Nether Realm.
  • Skills: Apo'a Ile possesses an ability similar to Farsight. She is also capable of commanding legions of spirits, healing mortal injuries, and even conjure dangerous Light-side powers such as a Wall of Light (though her care for all Living things often makes its use impossible). For better or worse, she resides deep within the Nether and is unable to enter the Realm of the Living. Unlike her Dark counterpart, Apo'a Ile is content to ensure the smooth transition of Life Energy to and from the Living, among the Dead, and back to the Source of all things.
  • Personality: Apo'a Ile is a serene and intelligent entity of the Solanaceae. She is untroubled by even her Dark counterpart's desires to lay claim to the Living and threaten the very fabric of existence itself. Ensuring the continued operation of Creation is a consuming task, which she has done since passing from the mortal coil long ago. Nevertheless, she does enjoy when the Living reach out to her for advice or even assistance in saving the lives of the injured or dying. Service is its own reward.

  • Weapon of Choice: The Force
  • Combat Function: Apo'a Ile would be best utilized in a Support Role capacity in battle whether possessing a Living Host or confronted in the Nether. Her disposition toward protecting life does not lend itself to open warfare. However, if backed into a corner by someone intruding upon her Palace in the Nether, Apo'a Ile is quite capable of defending itself -- though she may only banish intruders back to the Realm of the Living rather than kill them. More often than not, having her bolster the bodies and spirits of combatants or healing injuries sustained in battle would be the ideal choice for this spirit.
Strengths:
  • Force Mastery: A spirit that claims godhood possesses considerable strength in manipulating Force or mystic energies of Creation. It would be wise to strike to the quick before Apo'a Ile becomes convinced self-defense is required to ensure the continuation of the Cycle of Life.
  • True Sight: As a spirit well acquainted with the currents of power of the Living and Dead, Apo'a Ile can often pierce through most attempts to hide physical, mental, or spiritual truths from her eyes. It is a useful skill in understanding a person and providing them the wisdom they consciously or unconsciously seek.
  • Hard to Kill: Most will interact with Apo'a Ile via a possessed, Living Host or by spiritual communication. Among mortals, her essence is essentially immortal -- but the host is not. Banishment back to the Nether is just as effective as death. Confronted in the Nether true death might be possible, but difficult. Only someone possessing considerable experience and strength in manipulating the Nether should even contemplate such an act; and be prepared to combat her less tolerant counterpart Ha Cokaya and his legions should intruders prove difficult to banish back to the Realm of the Living.
Weaknesses:
  • Serene: Even before arriving in the Nether centuries ago, Apo'a Ile always held a patient, long suffering, and kind countenance. Such selfless disregard and desire to only create life -- never to destroy it -- makes it difficult to permanently end any threats that refuse to listen, and may even leave her hosts open to attack and death.
  • Trapped: Apo'a Ile is contained within the Nether Realm, and cannot leave of her own accord into the Realm of the Living. Her influence over the Living is extremely limited, and often requires a creature to initiate contact to the spiritual realm and establish a pact. Killing such a host is the most efficient means of terminating the Light entity's time among mortals; though depending on the reason she is there, you could also just try asking.
  • Reluctant Partner: Ha Cokaya, her counterpart, is often tiring in his endless pursuit of disturbing the smooth operations of Creation. Nevertheless, Apo'a Ile is forced to endure his antics as the two are bound to one another. Should Ha Cokaya be injured, she would have little choice but to heal him unless she is prepared to face the end of her own existence.

There is some academic debate as to who the Winged Goddess truly is, for who can stand to authoritatively claim to know? What is certain, however, is that the Witches of Dathomir have worshiped the Winged Goddess since Allya inspired the creation of the Book of Law, which led to the creation of the Book of Shadow. Such strong belief in an overwhelming spiritual power did not come about after the demise of The One known as The Daughter. Could she have been the 'paradigm of the Light Side' of the Force as claimed? Or could she have merely been one of several entities that used the moniker 'Winged Goddess?' Those that worshiped a particular Winged Goddess would know one purported deity from another, but that does not preclude more than one spiritual entity using that name in different regions of the galaxy or over the span of the galaxy's very existence.

As one of many mysteries surrounding the spiritual realm, perhaps the Solanaceae will one day uncover the truth of such matters. For now, however, Apo'a Ile's presence before the Font of Power, appeared to lend credence to her claim as being the (or perhaps 'a') Winged Goddess alongside Ha Cokaya, whom claimed to be the (or perhaps 'a') Fanged God.

Apo'a Ile described her long and storied history of residing within the Nether as one of the pillars ensuring the continuation of the Realm of the Living, which in turn maintained the Nether Realm, and continued the cycle of Life and Death in all Creation. She spoke of her years observing the Living, and offering guidance to those that listened to guide the galaxy toward harmonious coexistence. Ha Cokaya's incessant interruptions not withstanding.

The origins from whence the spirit, Apo'a Ile, came from were not among the details imparted, however. It was not a matter of embarrassment, but of relevance. It didn't seem fruitful to describe a very long life among the stars as a Duinuogwuin long before written history could remember.

With the need to establish her identity out of the way, Apo'a Ile was then forced to listen as Ha Cokaya attempted to solicit the Nightmother to release him from the cage of the Nether. The offer was obviously denied. Not that she expected any different given the Nightmother's sensible nature of ensuring a balance between the Living and Dead. Still, the fact the woman had come to the Font of Power was an undeniable lure that only encouraged her Dark Counterpart's actions.

Ultimately, after some discussion and several interruptions by Ha Cokaya, Apo'a Ile agreed to lend her aid to the Sisters and Brothers of the Solanaceae whom sought her guidance and power.

This will sound familiar if you've read my earlier review on the other submission. I have no comments on format, template, or anything in this submission. However, the core concept is problematic due to the Chaos rules that prohibit a character from actually being god or immortal. Being a powerful Force entity is fine, and characters (PCs, NPCs) can then believe what they may. But, could I get you to remove the 'god' and 'deity' tags? Fanged God is fine, as that's a specific religious title.

I'd also appreciate if you could nuance the mentions of deification in the submission to be more of a claim than an absolute. With that in mind, if you could change the wording in your intent so that its clear you're describing a supposed or assumed deity, so that its less of a flat fact and more subjective.

Once that's done, I'm happy to stamp this.
