OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To make an Anti-Shield version of the standard 6.8mm x 43mm ball round
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: 6.8mm AP rounds
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: The Dire Wolves Mercenary Company, Confederacy of Independent Systems
  • Affiliation: The Dire Wolves Mercenary Company, Confederacy of Independent Systems, Closed-Market
  • Model:
  • Modularity: It can be used in any weapon system chambered for 6.8mm x 43mm rounds.
  • Production: Minor
  • Material: Casing is made out of hardened but thin link-steel casings with the primer in the base. Round itself is a Ionite-A core with a magnesium and Yorik Coral casing, which burns away once the round is fired, protecting anything that these rounds might be stuck into to keep the Ionite from reacting with tech.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: 6.8mm x 43mm cased ammunition
  • Size: Large,
  • Weight: Average,
  • Explosive Type: None
  • Delivery Method: Fired from rifles
  • Effective Range: Long Range - Maximum effective range of the round in perfect conditions is 4,000 meters, accurate range depends on weapon system fed into.
  • Area Of Effect: Personal,
  • Stopping Power: Very High
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Bullet itself is relatively heavy providing very consistent trajectories regardless of the atmospheric conditions and giving it massive amounts of momentum when it hits hard armor.
  • Bullet is designed so that while it is in storage, the magnesium and Yorik Coral casing protect anything around the round from any kind of electronics to power sources that the Ionite has even the slightest of potential of shorting out, which gives it the ability to be stored safely for long periods of time at no risk unless you set the rounds themselves on fire.
STRENGTHS
  • That's some nice Tech you got there - These rounds are designed to do one thing when it hits enemy armor or shielding. The Ionite-A in the round will either pierce the enemy armor enough short out electrical systems, cause shields to malfunction and start going haywire, or if you hit someone enough times with these rounds, cause their system to just shut down as the Ionite does what it does naturally, destroy tech.
  • Every Round is a tracer - So one of the nice things about the shell of the rounds is that while they burn away, you can actually see the flight path and trajectory of the rounds, making it much easier to aim your follow up shots as you can see what the round is doing mid flight.
WEAKNESSES
  • Reduced Penetration - These rounds are still a 6.8mm slugs and will hurt like frak, but compared to ball and armor piercing rounds these bullets are apt to shatter once they hit something hard. Granted that means even if it hits hard enough scales or skin when it penetrates that the round could still shatter due to the amount of kinetic energy carried. That being said if you're trying to go through standard heavy armor, you're gonna want something else.
  • More dangerous than standard or AP rounds - This one is a no brainer, if these rounds catch fire on say, a ship, your protective coating covering the tip will suddenly be gone, which means you now have a lot of exposed Ionite on board your vessel. Do I need to say more?
DESCRIPTION
A part of The Dire Wolves ammunition upgrade program, this weapon is designed purely for ruining electronics and shielded targets. With a solid Ionite-A core and a magnesium and Yorik Coral protective coating, you can load this round into any 6.8mm weapon system without fear of the Ionite reacting to your weapon. And then once it's left the barrel of your weapon you have a bullet that will prey on shields, cause electronics to go on the fritz, and make enemy techs pull out their hair as your enemies now have utterly ruined electronics. And while Dr. Alphonse would consider it almost cruel to make someone have to suffer like that, Sergei has made certain to remind him that peace is most often achieved through superior firepower. And while your enemy is sitting there trying to figure out why his blaster is suddenly not working, you can certainly either kill or capture at your leisure.

Reduced effectiveness Ionite covered in a coating to subdue its presence so that when fired from a slugthrower, it doesn't impact the user, unless previously damaged.

I am really liking this idea, but at the same time, hate to have to be in the receiving end.
