- Name: Anotian Devourer
- Designation: Non-Sentient
- Origins: Anoat
- Average Lifespan: 15-20 Years
- Estimated Population: Planetary
- Description: Large and furious, the Anotian Devourer originally dwelt deep beneath the surface of Anoat. Like most things unfortunate enough to live on Anoat when Darth Nefaron took over, the Devourer slowly became twisted by the Dark Side into the monstrous, blind beast that is now enslaved in the Corpse Legion as a beast of burden and a weapon. Pale-skinned and bipedal, the Devourer has been trained to obey the commands of a rider and is often equipped with thick armor.
- Breathes: Type 1/2 Atmosphere
- Average Height of Adults: 9.144 Meters (30 Feet) when standing up.
- Average Length of Adults: 9.144 Meters (30 Feet)
- Skin color: Pale White/Grey
- Hair color: Pale White/Grey
- Distinctions: Massive in size and totally blind, Devouers lack real sentience and simply rely on instinct. They have evolved to have thick skin and claws in order to create tunnels beneath Anoat's surface. Do to the intense darkness, the creatures had adapted to have a strong sense of smell and hearing.
- Races: None
- Force Sensitivity: Non-Sensitive
- Earth-Eaters: The Devourers evolved to churn rock and stone beneath the surface of Anoat. Such raw strength makes them formidable on the battlefield, capable of even taking on light vehicles.
- Stone-Flesh: To withstand the pressure beneath the surface, the Devourer's skin is thick as stone in many places, providing some blaster resistance.
- Champion's Mount: Those brave enough in the Corpse Legion to try and tame one of the beasts are often controlled by higher-ranking Legionaries who spur the creatures onward, providing them some tactical flexibility.
- Endless Dark: Growing up in the pitch darkness beneath Anoat's surface, the Devourers are entirely blind. While they do have enhanced hearing and smell, they often can become confused and lost on the surface.
- Small Minds: Without a rider, the Devourers revert to simple animal instinct. In this state, they are just as likely to turn on Nefaron's forces as his enemies.
- Terrible form of life: Like many on Anoat, the Devourers are slaves to Darth Nefaron. They are not likely to trust anyone approaching them.
- Diet: Omnivore, though the Corpse Legion has supplied only meat in order to increase the size of the Devourers
- Communication: The Devourers are normally silent, though now brought to the surface and forced into war, they roar and stomp the ground in rage.
- Technology level: None
- Religion/Beliefs: None
- General behavior: Typically solitary creatures underground, Devourers often travel to communal breeding grounds and underground water supplies to gather in larger numbers. Females are typically larger than males, and Devourer young remain with the mother for a few years until they are of sufficient size to travel alone. The creatures were built to push and claw their way through rock and dirt beneath the surface of Anoat, so many of their tunnels create a large system that usually fills back in over time.
Before the arrival of Darth Nefaron on Anoat, the surface was already a polluted hellscape. Most creatures either died out or were forced underground, and such may have been the case for the ancestors of the Devourers. For untold centuries, the creatures lived out their lives in the darkness beneath Anoat's surface, at least until the Corpse Lord arrived on the world and began massive excavation projects to create space for his growing Legion and to gain access to the resources beneath the surface.
Soon, the fortress that rose from the surface also began to dig into the soil of the poisoned world. But such a task was not simple, for entire work crews of slaves began to disappear, detachments of Corpse Legionaries turned up eviscerated. It was not until the Corpse Lord himself investigated that the creatures that became known as the Devourers were unveiled, and the Dark Lord wasted little time in acquiring one for study. Though countless slaves and Legionaries perished, soon enough, the blind creatures began to be captured and turned to the service of Darth Nefaron. A few brave Corpse Legionaries managed to tame the beasts, often riding them as mounts to carry out larger tasks or simply to terrify the herd of slaves arriving on the world. Yet the Corpse Lord would not be satisfied with only a single world, and soon enoug,h the Corpse Legion would be unleashed on the galaxy at large and the Devourers would be but one of many creatures that would come to war, equipped with heavy armor and blades to cut through the ranks of the enemy. Through raw strength, light vehicles and formations of infantry would crumble, fleeing in terror before a formation of the great beasts.
Much like the rest of his Legion, the beasts are a new addition to the roster of monstrous weapons that the Corpse Lord seeks to unleash upon the galaxy. Should a world fall under his shadow, one should expect the Devourers to be at the fore of the great horde of darkness.
