SETTING INFORMATION

Structure Name:
  • Anomaly: 8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3 (Tarsai Vigil HQ)
Classification:
Location:
Affiliation:
Accessibility:
  • Anomaly-8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3 stands like a silent obelisk at the heart of the city's central district. The building's stark, imposing design rises sharply from its foundation, its dark facade unbroken by signage or ornamentation. Surrounded by dense urban architecture yet set apart by a secured no-access perimeter, the structure commands both attention and unease.

While the building would ordinarily be accessible via the city's major transportation arteries, all roads and pedestrian routes leading to the area have been sealed off. The surrounding streets are patrolled by The Tarsai Vigil, who enforce a total exclusion zone. Civilians are not permitted within visual range, and even service routes and airspace above the structure are restricted.

Though towering and unmistakable in the skyline, Anomaly-8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3 is socially and physically isolated. Its brutalist design, reinforced concrete surface, and absence of external activity lend it an almost alien stillness—amplified by the overcast skies and vacant streets shown in its vicinity. The structure appears lifeless, yet undeniably present.

The Tarsai Vigil maintains a strict and impenetrable perimeter, but even they are forbidden from entering the building. No personnel, including those stationed at the perimeter, have ever been authorized to cross its threshold. The reasons remain undisclosed, and questions are met with silence. The building appears entirely sealed, with no visible entryways at ground level—only shadowed recesses and smooth, towering surfaces that offer no clues to what lies inside.
Description:
  • Anomaly-8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3 stands as an impenetrable, enigmatic structure in the heart of the city—a monolith that demands attention but offers no answers. Its towering form rises high above the surrounding buildings, an austere silhouette against the perpetually overcast sky. The building's design is stark and brutalist, composed of dark, weathered concrete and reflective glass that blend seamlessly into the urban environment. Its sheer size is imposing, yet its purpose remains an unspoken mystery.

Despite the immense scale of Anomaly-8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3, it defies all conventional expectations for a skyscraper. While it is large enough to accommodate numerous floors—each of which might typically be utilized for offices, meeting rooms, or corporate headquarters—it contains none of these. There are no visible levels, no indication of the space within being divided into floors, rooms, or suites.

Upon entering the building, one would encounter a staggering void. The ground floor is entirely open, and if you were to look up from this level, you would only see the unbroken stretch of the building's inner height, reaching into an abyssal blackness above. The walls rise endlessly, with no clear end in sight, as if the building has no real upper or lower limits—its scope is both infinite and profoundly empty. The absence of floors is disorienting, creating a vertiginous effect as if you are staring into an endless chasm rather than a conventional interior.

The exterior of the building gives no clues as to its interior configuration, and there are no obvious signs of access. The ground level is sealed, with no doors, windows, or traditional entryways. The only suggestion of a way in is a discreet, almost imperceptible entrance on the north side of the building—an unmarked, narrow slit barely wide enough for a person to slip through. This concealed access point is shielded from public view by the building's form and the surrounding security perimeter enforced by The Tarsai Vigil. Few are aware of its existence, and those who do find it are immediately met with strict security protocols, including biometric scans and identification checks that ensure only authorized individuals can proceed.

Despite the imposing and inaccessible nature of the structure, the discreet entry point, tucked away from the eyes of the public, provides a quiet route into the vast emptiness within. However, even those who manage to pass through are left with an overwhelming sense of unease—what lies beyond that entrance is a mystery that not even the building's guardians, or those tasked with its protection, have answers to.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Within the imposing and mysterious walls of Anomaly-8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3, there exist several points of interest—each contributing to the building's shrouded, enigmatic purpose. These areas, though they remain hidden from the public, are integral to the operations that occur within the building's vast, unbroken interior.

Ground Floor of Anomaly-8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3: A Descent into Darkness

The ground floor of Anomaly-8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3 is a vast, hollow cavern, bathed in perpetual darkness that seems to swallow any light daring to penetrate. The space is unfathomably large—stretching out in every direction, with the ceiling high above, hidden in shadow. The floors are cold and uninviting, composed of dark, polished stone that reflects the dim light in odd, unnatural ways. The air is thick with the quiet hum of the building's internal systems, though the silence remains almost oppressive. There are no visible windows, no breaks in the harsh architecture—just smooth, angular walls that give the entire space a feeling of detachment from the world outside.

The four eerie entrances leading to the building's other Points of Interest are positioned in the far corners of the ground floor, barely distinguishable from the surrounding structure. Each one is subtly recessed within the wall, creating the illusion that they belong to the space itself rather than leading anywhere. There are no doors or markings—just faint indentations in the otherwise smooth, flawless surface of the walls. The entrances are large enough to suggest that something lies beyond, but there is no immediate way of knowing what.

  • The First Entrance, located near the northwest corner of the floor, is an almost imperceptible gap in the wall. When approached, it seems to pulse faintly, as if inviting one to step closer. The air around it is colder than the rest of the floor, a subtle but unsettling sensation that urges caution. The exact nature of this passage remains unknown, though the faint echo of footsteps can sometimes be heard from behind the dark threshold.
  • The Second Entrance, tucked behind a series of dark metallic panels in the northeast corner, appears as a nearly seamless slit in the wall. It is utterly silent, with no signs of movement or change, yet there is an undeniable presence of activity from within. The faint glow of monitors can be seen from a narrow gap in the seam, but only for a moment before the light vanishes entirely, leaving only the oppressive silence of the building.
  • The Third Entrance, located at the southeast end of the ground floor, is even more cryptic. It is a set of irregularly shaped openings, resembling long cracks in the stone that are so expertly concealed that they could be easily overlooked. When standing near it, the air seems to hum with a soft, barely perceptible vibration—an unnatural frequency that makes the hairs on the back of one's neck stand on end. It leads to a shadowed passage that disappears into the vast, uncharted depths of the building.
  • The Fourth Entrance, at the southwestern end of the floor, is a thin seam running vertically from floor to ceiling, easily mistaken for a mere imperfection in the structure. A soft draft flows from it, carrying the faint scent of machinery and old papers. There is no immediate indication that this passage is anything more than a part of the building's design, but the faint echoes of distant conversations can sometimes be heard—voices speaking in hushed tones, too faint to make out.
Each of these entrances is not marked by a name or any distinguishing features. They are simply there—quiet, unassuming, and ominous. They seem to hold a secret that only a select few are privy to, and those who know of their existence understand the building's true purpose only in the vaguest terms. None of these entrances lead to the public or civilian spaces outside. To enter through any of them is to descend into the heart of Anomaly-8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3, to become part of its strange, unknown operations, but only if one knows how to navigate its endless, dark corridors.

Above all, there is one constant—no one in the building speaks of what lies beyond these entrances. There are no signs, no directions, and no explanations. What exists in the shadows beyond those doors is as much a mystery as the building itself.

The Archives: The Direct Surveillance of Domestic Threats

Located deep within the building's endless void, beyond a maze of unseen pathways, lies the Direct Surveillance of Domestic Threats archive—a chillingly meticulous repository of surveillance data gathered by The New Imperial Security Bureau. The Bureau, once the state's primary intelligence, security, and law enforcement body, was led by the infamous Staff Director, Alicia Drey Alicia Drey . Known for her treason and seditious conspiracy to the Empire of the Lost, Drey's program was intended to monitor and neutralize any internal threat to the state.

The archives, a cavernous vault beneath the surface of the building, contain years of collected data—every surveillance recording, intercepted communication, and file on suspected dissidents or insurgents. Rows upon rows of data terminals extend as far as the eye can see, each station containing digitized records in hundreds of formats, meticulously cataloged by name, date, and threat level. The air is thick with the quiet hum of data processors, all connected to a central node that allows for any file or transmission to be accessed instantly. Yet, despite the immense scope of the archive, a sense of dread hangs heavy in the air—this is not simply a collection of information, but a monument to a regime's paranoia, now dormant but never forgotten.

Following the economic collapse of Empire of the Lost and Her Her 's desire to close Direct Surveillance of Domestic Threats, the information and data collected during the two year Imperial occupation of The Tion Hegemony (and other surrounding star sectors) required a place to house it on a planet where none of her adversaries would think to look.

THE DIRECTORY

Further within the building, past layers of security, lies THE DIRECTORY—the heart of The Tarsai Vigil's operational control. Here, the security force tasked with overseeing the Five Veils Trade Route receives their orders and logs their activities into a high-security, central program known only as The Vigil Interface.

The room is stark and clinical, illuminated by dimly flickering screens that display encrypted logs, encrypted orders, and real-time surveillance of the trade route. Rows of workstations sit in near-perfect silence, each unmanned, therefore contributing to the eeriness of the building, where it is ensured that each ship passing through the Five Veils Route is thoroughly catalogued and logged in THE DIRECTORY . The room's central terminal is connected to vast databases that contain records of tolls collected, tariffs enforced, and illicit activities documented—each action recorded in detail, with small exception decided by the parent company to the The Tarsai Vigil.

The Tarsai Vigil
is a subsidiary of The Cortessan Finance Group, a corporate behemoth with vested interests in maintaining total control over the route. The vigilant security force patrols this critical passage, confiscating contraband, detaining suspected smugglers, and enforcing a brutal system of taxes and tariffs. Despite the seemingly routine nature of their operations, there is a constant undercurrent of tension in THE DIRECTORY—an unsettling sense of control, surveillance, and compliance.

The Escape Tunnel

Hidden deep within the bowels of the building lies a secretive escape tunnel, an emergency exit that only a select few even know exists. Its entrance is concealed behind a false wall, cleverly hidden in one of the building's vast, empty sectors. Once activated, a hidden door slides open to reveal a narrow, dimly lit corridor, lined with reinforced walls. The tunnel stretches beneath the building and connects to a secret hangar bay, located far from prying eyes.

The passage is designed for rapid evacuations, and its end point—a concealed hangar—contains a fleet of unmarked ships, equipped for a swift departure. These vessels are not registered to any known entity and appear to be used exclusively for covert operations. This clandestine escape route speaks to the building's role in covert and possibly illegal operations, offering a rapid means of leaving the premises should things go awry.

The Communications Room: The Obfuscated Transmissions

At the heart of Anomaly-8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3 lies the Communications Room, a dimly lit, soundproofed chamber where all transmissions coming into and out of the building are funneled through a system of highly obfuscated relays. The walls of the room are lined with holographic interfaces and encrypted transceivers, with each station unmanned which contributes to the eeriness and mystery of the building.

The room itself is a cacophony of hums and static, as scrambled signals are passed through a series of complex algorithms designed to distort any transmission's origin, content, or destination. The systems in place manipulate frequencies, layer communications in code, and send them through multiple relays to obscure their true source. To an external observer, any attempt to trace a signal to or from the building would appear hopeless, as the signals constantly shift and re-route through an elaborate web of decoys and obfuscation nodes.

The room's central hub is the most heavily guarded, with live data streams flickering across massive holo-screens, constantly updating as transmissions are received and sent. In the rare event that a transmission needs to be sent to the outer world, the system ensures that it is untraceable—leaving no digital footprint behind. Every communication, every data exchange, is hidden beneath layers of complex encryption and scrambling, ensuring that those within the building remain truly off the grid.

The Archive Vault: The Vault of Silent Records

Deep beneath the vast, empty spaces of Anomaly-8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3 lies a fifth point of interest: The Archive Vault. Unlike the Direct Surveillance of Domestic Threats archive, which holds digitized records, this vault is home to the original physical documents and materials gathered by The New Imperial Security Bureau during the height of the Empire of the Lost. These records are a chilling reminder of the era's authoritarian reach—old data pads, handwritten reports, and files bound in thick, weathered leather cover the vault's extensive storage shelves.

The Vault is a low-lit, claustrophobic space where dust and time have taken their toll. The air is musty, and the silence is broken only by the faint crackle of distant machines, though the area appears to be devoid of any personnel. Each file within the Vault contains information on individuals, operations, and covert missions, many of which are tied to the Bureau's dark past. The materials are locked behind high-security barriers, and only those with absolute clearance can access them. In the far corner of the Vault, a series of dark, unmarked doors lead further into hidden storage chambers, their contents uncertain.

SECURITY

MEDIUM.

Not because of force, but because of fear.

External Security
  • Tarsai Vigil Patrols are the only tangible layer of protection surrounding the building. They form an unbroken perimeter that restricts all civilian and unauthorized movement within several city blocks.
  • The street access is sealed, barricaded by heavy urban infrastructure, and the presence of the Vigil is constant, but even they do not approach the building itself.
  • No one is permitted to touch the walls. No one is allowed to ask why.
  • There are no cameras. No visible defenses. No visible entrances.
  • Only silence. Only order.

Internal Security

No alarms. No guards. No turrets.
And yet no one has ever returned from inside uninvited.

  • The interior disorients.
    • Endless black surfaces and impossible geometry.
    • Hallways that don't follow the laws of structure or sense.
    • Sound doesn't behave the way it should. Echoes come late. Footsteps sound like whispers.
  • The lighting is wrong. There are no fixtures, and yet there is illumination. It comes from nowhere.
  • No signs. No directions. No names on the walls. The entrances to other levels are there—but they don't invite you in.
  • You feel watched, yet there are no cameras.
  • Electronic equipment brought inside either malfunctions or records nothing but static.
  • The air tastes sterile, but thin, like it shouldn't be breathable.
  • Those who enter feel the sensation of being studied, not by machines or people—but by the building itself.
Deterrence by Design
  • No force is used, yet intruders turn around.
  • Those who've dared enter speak of feelings they can't describe—panic, awe, grief. Some report missing time. Others, recurring dreams.
  • No automated defenses are known to exist. But no threat has ever reached the archives to The Direct Surveillance of Domestic Threats, THE DIRECTORY, or the communication room.
Summary

Anomaly-8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3
does not need turrets or soldiers. It doesn't need a visible shield.
It is protected by the unknown—by the fear that stepping too far in will unravel more than secrets.
It protects itself in silence.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

In 902 ABY, Wend Marcion-- a corporate magnet in control of a mega-corporation operated through layers of subsidiaries, such as The Tarsai Vigil-- began quietly moving to control ports, planets, stations and commerce along The Five Veils Trade Route, with aims of becoming a Shadow Empress of the Economy. This trade route, located within the realms of The Royal Naboo Republic, became of interest to The Order of the Sith Lords due to the existence of The Order of Shiraya: an order of Jedi whom protected and served the Republic. Seeking to involve herself in The Five Veils Conspiracy, Her Her found the means of learning more about her Jedi adversaries by using the subsidiary as a front while recording and monitoring events which occurred within Nabooian space that were then stored within the building itself.

Negotiations between Her Her and The Cortessan Finance Group coincided with the economic collapse of The Empire of the Lost where an offer was made to fund the creation of a new subsidiary. The deal was agreed in record time and with little questions asked due to a mixture of how great the offer was, and Her Her 's abilities in Force Persuasion. Within the span of a few weeks the subsidiary known as The Tarsai Vigil was up and running at little cost to it's parent company. As part of the deal, the building that would be recorded within the memory banks of THE DIRECTORY as Anomaly: 8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3 fell into the ownership of the subsidiary with full autonomy given to the new company and it's presence on the planet Enarc.

The building itself has been on Enarc for over a millennia dating back to times where The Trade Federation operated on the planet. In that time, between then and now, it has served many commercial interests over the centuries, and was once used as an urban retreat for the local populace during The Four-Hundred Year Darkness. In the modern day, with it falling into the clutches of The Tarsai Vigil, locals have noted a stark and eerie transformation of the building, and the urban areas which surround it, with it not uncommon for them to across the path of security patrols which forbid access into the building, or the local area. Enarc authorities, who are perplexed by the stories and reports coming in about the anomaly, dare not interfere due to the corporate power of The Cortessan Finance Group.

It was here in the anomaly that a Sith Master from The Order of the Sith Lords colloquially known only by the pseudonym of Her Her stored the digital and written archives of The Empire of the Lost following it's economic collapse. With Enarc located along the Mid Rim, far away from the Outer Rim Territories where the Imperial remnants still lingered, Her sought to store all the information and data that the The Direct Surveillance of Domestic Threats had recorded on her associates and adversaries during the occupation of The Tion Hegemony (and other surrounding star sectors) while she went about the closure of the program with Serina Calis Serina Calis . While the archives, storage and outposts of the DSDT Program were liquidated, the original files and recordings made during the two year reign of The Empire of the Lost persisted within Anomaly: 8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3 under the noses of The Order of Shiraya and The Royal Naboo Republic that they served.

While the building has had many names throughout the millennia, all under the different owners and fronts, curiously and mysteriously this data has been wiped from all known Enarc directories, archives or written text consigning it's history into the dark annuals of time. In the modern day it is colloquially referred to as 'TARSAI HEADQUARTERS' but this is factually incorrect and a colloquialism used due to the known activities of The Tarsai Vigil which stem from this place. Someone is giving orders from here but nobody really knows who or why beyond the public knowledge about the subsidiary being a security force along The Five Veils Trade Route, and it being owned by The Cortessan Finance Group.

Within THE DIRECTORY it is recorded as "Anomaly: 8-5-18-5-14-1-18-3", with the numbers used as part of an alphabet cipher to obfuscate the rest of the text. If decrypted one would discover that the full name of this building, of which is only stored within the directories of The Tarsai Vigil, as "Anomaly: HER-ENARC". Many such ciphers appeared in The Direct Surveillance of Domestic Threats through the items recorded within the surveillance program such as The Cone of Silence which was found within the building despite it being Imperial technology invented by the now defunct New Imperial Security Bureau.
