Angels of Demonsgate (No Good Deed...)

Truth be told Jamie had somewhat spaced out in the moments that had followed the initial rescue. The blaster and comm that had been originally offered were lost on her, though to be fair, the blaster would be wholly useless in her hands. She had no training, never shot a blaster even once in her eighteen years of life. In fact, she had only seen one a small handful of times to even know what the kark it was to begin with. Sure, point and shoot was a simple way of explaining it, but shooting and hitting nothing was far worse a strategy than simply running. Running she could do. Running she was good at. So long as she didn't get cornered again with no out.

"Uh--O-Oka-y" She stuttered as she was suddenly tugged away into a sprint down the hallway; Bryce's lightsaber bobbing up and down in her free hand as they ran from the ever approaching clank and scratch of claws against the cold durasteel floor. A few paces into their departure and Jamie finally caught her stride, only then taking into consideration her rescuers words, both of his lack of nobility and skill. "Well you just risked your own life to save a total stranger from whatever those things are, so I would say that is a pretty noble and selfless thing to do!" She insisted, though reassured him that she was in the same boat. "I'm likely not much, if any, better than you with this thing!" She paused in between steady, slow breaths. "I was a fencer back home on Naboo, but my saber training is minimal." Her eyes wandered from the path in front of them to his. "I'll try not to get us killed."

Running alongside Bryce as they ran towards, wait... "Where are we going? Do you know the way out? I don't have any idea of where we--." As the two raced past a four way corridor the blonde turned her head only momentary, but in that single second she was certain as to what she'd seen. "There's more! A lot more coming!"

Bryce didn't even need to look back, he knew how these things thought. They had numbers now and were after a new kill. Feth he hated these things. For months it has always been the same. Outbreak, death, fight, repeat. He was growing weary of the struggle but Jamie counting on him to get her to safety he was not about to complain now. Instead, he drew his hand cannon from his waistband and sprayed the closest monsters with sith killing virus.

As the approached an intersection a group of new spawn leapt out of the shadows to block their path. With now monsters to the left of them, beasties to the right there they were stuck in the middle of poodoo. He knew this was the spawns favorite tactic and he had fallen right into it. Cursing he raised his hand cannon to the spawn in front of them and sent another virus filled round into the pack. As the spawn screamed and writhed in pain Bryce turned to Jamie and asked... "Do you trust me?"

Without even waiting for her answer he grabbed her hand once again and pulled her toward the newly appeared spawn. They were going to have to use the opened he had made to somehow fight through... and it was not going to be easy.

Do I trust yo- Before Jamie had even a moment to process Bryce's question she was again being dragged down the corridor. This time straight towards the, wait, TOWARDS THE MONSTERS?! Her voice broke as she screamed, falling silent after only a momentary burst of sound had pushed its' way from her lips. "Are you out of your mi-" Again her thought process was interrupted by the swarm of enemies still ahead of the two. "I hope you know what you're doing!" Jamie finally managed to get out.

The sounds of horror only got louder the closer they got to the creatures, as if this had been some sort of calculated plot by these things and now they were relishing their success. "Ohhhhhhh!" She said nervously, pressing down the activator switch on Bryce's shoto lightsaber that he'd given to her just moments prior. The miniature blade was odd to her, as she'd typically been used to full sized swords and practice sabers. If Bryce had seen the look on her in that moment he would see the confusion, though there was really no time to sit and examine what exactly the reasoning behind it was.

There was the opening that Bryce had made, though it was unlikely to last for much more than a few seconds. There were certainly enough of these creatures to fill the gap relatively quickly. That meant it would be incredibly important to keep that opening as long as possible. "Get that one!" She said, pointing to Bryce's right. "I'll take this one!" I hope. If they were at all successful they could perhaps break through that swarm and keep running wherever it was they were going. The blonde took a deep breath and slashed towards the pair of razor sharp claws aiming to tear her into small pieces.

Best laid plans people... go to feth quickly. Bryce had one more round left in his hand cannon and that was quickly exhausted on the ones closing on his left. As Jamie want for those on the right he watched her slash desperately at the closest one. Not the best form but in this karking situation it did the job. This was not working, if they stayed and fought they were going to get slaughtered. So waiting for her to finish her attack Bryce now fueled with a longing to survive grabbed her free arm again and pulled her toward the ever closing hole.

As the creatures swarmed in on them he ran with every ounce of force speed left in his body and somehow cleared the distance with Jamie in tow. For good measure, Bryce pulled a thermal detonator and flipped it to the girl.

"Know how you use one of these?" He asked and she looked to try and catch it.

The moment the two broke through the small barricade of Sith Spawn there was a sharp dragging sensation that followed from her shoulder a ways down her back. A terrible grimace pained her expression as Bryce pulled her along with the aide of the Force. If there wasn't an immediate need to continue sprinting at blinding speed she would have fell to her knees and immediately inspected the injury, but for now adrenaline was all that carried her along.

Looking at her hand at the thermal detonator resting in her palm she admitted shyly, "No. Is this some kind of decoy or poison?" Though in the confusion of running away from the chasing horde her finger slipped, thumb depressing some kind of button along the front of it which initiated a steady flashing of a light.

"Ummm I think I pressed a button!"

"Throw it!" Bryce shouted as he slapped it from her hand. He continued to pull her through the corridors of the vessel as the device detonated and consumed part of the oncoming swarm in a ball of fire. Closing now on the nearest airlock, he racing through the still open door while pulling Jamie inside. Slapping the switch to activate the interior doors to close he breathed a sigh of relief now having a moment to think. As the door fell into place the still oncoming horde fell upon the now shut door and began clawing at it with their filthy claws. It would take them time to get through, the door was close to a meter thick and made to take a beating. Having the time to finally do so, Bryce signaled to the Starr where he was located for pickup. Now with a little time to kill, Bryce ask the young girl...

"So, how ya doing?"

Jamie's breathing was abnormally heavy, even for the distance they'd run and the chaos they'd survived. "I think..." Her hand felt its' way around to her shoulder and back where her face immediately turned sour, drawing in a deep, sudden breath to hold herself back from crying out in pain. When she pulled her hand forward again the stain of red liquid covered her palm and fingertips. "It may have got me." The adrenaline of the moment that had kept her going through their escape began to quickly drain, and the agony of the open wound suddenly flooded her senses, forcing her to the floor with trembling hands.

The frighteningly loud clawing against the door just behind the two certainly wasn't helping the situation any, serving only to remind the two that despite that durasteel barrier between them and the Sithspawn, they wouldn't be safe forever, and a whole new set of problems were present now.

"I need to lie down. I'm out of breath and tired."

"Feth, you're wounded," Bryce said as without out her permission Bryce pulled shot of custom antibodies and injected it straight into her wounded arm.

The kid was pissed at himself he had been too busy flirting with her to notice she hadn't taken the original shot. Bryce quickly went to dressing her wounds and followed that up with around of battle stim injections and a heavy dose of antivirals for good measure. He could tell she was none too pleased with all the medical treatments, especially the ones administered with needles but she would thank him later when she didn't turn into one of those karking things.

"Jamie, sorry for the rough treatment but without these you will soon be growing some nice chit plates where that beautiful skin is now if you get my meaning. Got you all bandaged up and those battle stims should be kicking in pretty soon, strong stuff so if you get light headed that is pretty normal. We gotta move soon, that door is already giving way. Just a quick question, how are your zero grav skills?"

Without answering Bryce began overriding the air lock doors, soon after a thirty-second countdown began. Giving Jamie a re-assuring smile bryce signaled his ship again.

"Alexa, you had better be at this airlock toot sweet kitty, or else we are going need vacuum protocol treatment."

The delirious state she found herself in was trance inducing. Her head bobbed lazily from side to side as Bryce spoke, injecting her with various antivenins and wrapping what he could of her wounds. A few winces, cries, and spasms of her opened arm were the only resistance she produced during the ordeal. Even after he had finished and given her stims, she only partially acknowledged his words. They came as soft echoes through the room, seemingly distant, though her eyes did not betray her. It was an odd feeling for sure. In the moment she nearly believed she were simply in a dream. She had a few of those in the past, finding herself aware that she was dreaming, though could do nothing to escape that dream.

"It's so re---" She paused, looking at Bryce again. "Where are....Zero grav skills?"

What is he talking about? The banging on the door got louder, the screeching of claws and Sithspawn echoing in her head, giving her a headache. "I don't think I have those." How does one get zero grav skills?

Then he was talking to someone else. But there was nobody else present.

The stims started to kick in, and suddenly the world got a lot louder, less hazy, and more clear. She remembered where she was, what was chasing her, what they were doing. A sudden rush of oxygen filled her lungs and she screamed.

"We need to go! That thing's behind us still!" She quickly turned on her heels, grabbing the lightsaber from her side and igniting it as she stood ready in case it broke through. "Bryce we need to get out of here!"

She was either acutely aware of the danger they were in, or the adrenaline was once again rushing through her body.

Poodoo that worked Bryce though as his attractive companion sprung back to life. Nodding at Jamie astute observation he motioned for her to start heading for the outer hatch.

Twenty seconds.... The computer continued to count down the seconds till the outer door would open, as it did Bryce saw his ship move into position some 20 meters away and ready the Force cylinder projectors.

Ten seconds... The airlock began to hiss as the lock began their final release sequence. As they did the interior door began to finally give way. Claws and teeth began to rip their way through the door and the beasts looked to spit their acid at the two as soon as they were able. Bryce fired another round from he recently re-loaded hand cannon into the door causing the nearest spawn to scream in pain.

Outer hatch engaged... The Shining Star engage it's projectors just in time as the outer hatch rolled open and two were pushed into the shield cylinder beyond by the evacuating atmosphere. Now away from the artificial gravity of the ship the two began to float and spin in the Zero G safe from space's vacuum with the shield, as they did the spawn were finally able to rip through the door and began to leap after them.

Seconds felt like hours. Her body trembled throughout with every passing breath. The sound of the creature tearing its' way through the durasteel door. The sound of the alarm as Bryce's ship came to dock, she could hear a pin drop her senses were so elevated. Sweat poured from her temple. The wound on her shoulder was irritating, but manageable for the time being, likely due solely to the stims he had rather forcefully injected into her bloodstream.

The moment the two were pulled from the ship towards the other, the creature breached and tore after them with the determination of an army about to siege a city. Jamie hadn't quite been under duress when in Zero-G, every time before it had been recreational back on Naboo as a form of entertainment. She had the know-how to move, but she was hardly proficient.

Fear once again overtook her, though this time something else happened, something entirely unexpected. That was always how these things worked with her. Whenever she called on the Force it was generally a panicked reflex, rarely manifesting itself again until next she needed a life saver.

What followed was a shrieking scream, looking at what was essentially a nightmare monster chasing at the two as they made their way to the other ship and hopefully safety. Her hands pushed forward, completely of their own instinctive nature.

Something happened... The spawn ceased all movements. It was...Stuck. It made no effort to move, the screeching stopped. It was like it was frozen in space and time. Suddenly Jamie felt an incredible pain in the front of her head, causing a pained cry as she turned to continue towards the other ship with Bryce. Behind her the spawn remained where it was left, though the pressure in her head began to slowly creep. Whatever she was holding onto, she couldn't do forever. A bit of blood slowly ran down her nose as the two made it to the other side.

Well, now that was unexpected Bryce though as the pack os Sith spawn suddenly froze. As he watched, a disturbance in the force caused Bryce to look over at Jamie and he suddenly realized what was happening. Feth she was holding them off. But at what cost? Bryce could feel the strain in her body language and quickly tried to help.

Wrapping his free hand around her waist he pulled her in close before holding his gun up at the frozen spawn. Trying to center it so the recoil would be more directed to push them backward he squeezed the trigger and with a jolt, the two began spinning back through the Force cylinder and into the ship. With a thud Bryce hit back first onto the Starr's inner airlock and groaned as his wounded shoulder slammed into the door jam. Reaching out his free hand he triggered for the door to close and fresh atmosphere and artificial gravity took hold of them both.

Now concerned about Jamie he held her close as the rescue ship began to pull away from plague vessel. His attention was solely on her now, not as a hormone-fueled boy would view a pretty girl but as a concerned medic would care for a wounded patient. Reaching for a but of gause, Bryce wiped the blood from Jamies face as held her in his lap.

"You still with me down there?" he asked.

Her body was tired. The weight of the artificial gravity made her feel weak. It was effort to raise her head from the boy's lap. Instead she simply laid there, taking slow breaths, there was the familiar pounding in her head that she'd felt the first time she'd used some kind of Force power, though that first time she'd passed out from the strain. This was pushing her body's limits, but she managed to retain consciousness. Like last time though, she wasn't entirely sure what she'd done. She just knew she wanted those things to stop chasing them, and by the graces of the Force it heard her plea.

"That was...Close." She finally managed to say between labored breaths. Her eyes struggled to stay open. But they were safe now. She was far less worried about letting her eyes close now with the monsters stranded back on that ship.

There was a small smile.

"Thanks, for the help back there." Blue eyes finally closed, the adrenaline having subsided and with it, the last reserves of energy she'd been running on, thereby releasing herself into unconsciousness in Bryce's lap.
