And Now The Fun Begins.. (Daxton)

Rebellious Vanguard
Dressel. A planet that, luckily for them, had been pretty much untouched. Mostly because it sat out in the middle of space just beyond the Mara Corridor, but that worked to their advantage. It wasn't like they had highly advanced...well, anything. But for some reason, she'd been sent there. It was one of the only times where being the lone negotiator in an entire organization didn't work to her advantage. "This is so ridiculous. What's the pint in me even coming here? i swear, this is just busy work." She muttered to herself as she stared aimlessly at the roof of the shuttle. For the first time, she'd been assigned a shuttle to take her out to the planet for a meeting with Dressel's Governor. She'd even been given two armed escorts, not that she exactly asked for such a thing. In actuality, she hated it. But it wasn't like she was given much of a choice. For the first time in a long time, Ventasia would have to suck it up, and do her job. Correctly, that is.

"Ma'am. We're coming in to dock.", the pilot told her from the cockpit. A heavy sigh escaped her face as she rose to her feet, scouring through her bag that always had with her on any assignment. She'd pull both her blaster and her lightsaber from the bag, attaching the saber to her right hip, and holstering her blaster on the left. Just ship landed just as she finished grabbing her things, slinging the bag over her shoulders after closing it back. Ventasia made her way down the ramp, arms crossed as she simply eyed about, the two armed escorts following her and standing off to each side as ship but boots on ground. The place seemed....simple. It caused her to shake her head. While she probably shouldn't have, she was almost begging for something interesting to happen. She simply didn't want to be bored out of her mind while she was on-world.

Daxton looked at the image staring back at him in the mirror. It was strange to look back with face totally alien to the one he was born with but right now the task at hand required for a Human Jedi Master, not the Zabrak Lord of the Sith.

His human hands where a shade browner than the norm, as one would if he grew under the light of an orange sun. The brown robes similar to those worn by the hateful Jedi all over the galaxy. Practicing his 'friendly' face, he left his room and locked the door behind him.

He had been on world for three days now, meeting with the local politicians, assessing the defenses of the world, seeing if it could be a potential asset or possible base of operations for his plans. So far it has met some of his expectations. It was isolated and the people largely ignorant to the affairs of the galaxy.

In a few hours he would be meeting with the supreme leader to discuss a possible alliance between the native peoples and the 'Jedi'. The Sith Lord did not expect resistance, after all the man was small minded, weak and greedy. He wouldn't even need to utilize mind control at all. Yes it looked like this would be a casual walk in the park with nary a problem in sight.

A small sigh escaped her lips as her eyes caught sight of two males headed in her direction. As they neared, Ventasia prepared herself for what was likely to be a long day. "Welcome, ma'am. Who might you be?" And this was where the lies began. "Tasia Currain. I'm a negotiator from the Omega Protectorate." The males nodded, lowered their heads in a slight bow. "Ah, we have been awaiting your arrival. Please, follow us. We shall show you to your rooms for the remainder of your stay." Stay? There was no way she was doing that. Her eyes had seen all they needed to of this world, and she knew she wanted off this rock as quick as possible. "Don't bother. We'll be leaving as soon as our business her concludes. Just take me to the meeting." She knew the meeting itself wouldn't convene for a few more hours, but that wasn't really a care of her's. There was no issue with her sitting and waiting if it meant she could get the hell out of here faster.

The males nodded, signaling her to follow them, a signal which she relayed to her armed escorts. She didn't need them, but would at least make use of them while they were there. That was when something caught her attention. Something that turned this whole meeting upside down. "We are grateful for the presence of both representatives from the Omega and the Republic, especially considering one is a Jedi. Yes, today will be a great day for our home." Ventasia's eyes flickered toward the males as she followed behind them, their words swimming through her mind now. Omega and the Republic? What's that about? I wasn't even briefed about such a thing. No, there's a reason for that. I wasn't briefed because it isn't true. Or perhaps it is. It's unlikely, but not impossible, that they contacted the Jedi at the last moment to have them attend as well. But something doesn't sit right with me. Why wasn't I updated in route? It's about a twenty percent chance, but I don't think I'm the only one around here telling lies...

The doors to the meeting room slid open as the two males parted to allow entry. "Our leader will be with you in a few short hours." She didn't pay them any attention as she moved into the room, her escorts behind her, as the doors closed. Things were about to get interesting after all.

Daxton entered the building, the very image of a confident if slightly arrogant Jedi Master, nodding to acknowledge the polite bows the staff gave him.

"Greetings Jedi Master. The Supreme Leader would be with you both in a moment." They informed him.

Daxton's face frowned as he considered this new information. "Both? I wasn't aware that other parties were scheduled to be at the meeting."

"Yes, the representative of the Omega had arrived ahead of you and is already in the waiting room."

This was disturbing indeed. The Sith wasn't expecting the Omega to show up here of all places. Why didn't they content themselves to oppress people on their side of the galaxy? Ok maybe this could be considered a planet of interest, but only if they had gotten bored and fat. No matter, he had to assess their intentions and if possible get rid of them all together.

He could just blast them all with his mind, but that would leave too many questions if he left drooling vegetables in his wake. No, a subtle hand was required, one able to discern what was truly the Omega's intention on this world.

With a nod, he said, "Well then in that case, let us not keep them waiting then."

She could hardly help herself as she stood in wait. The clock was ticking, and her patience was dwindling with each passing minute. It wasn't enough that she had been sent to a seemingly out of the way planet, but by this point, Ventasia could only wonder what was going on behind the curtains of this planet. Why would they invite both the Jedi, and Omega? What can they possibly hope to gain from this? The better question is why the Jedi? Why not just simply send a a senator? There's too many questions around here, and not enough people to give answers...

One of the armed escorts stepped toward her, blaster rifle in hand. "Ma'am. I understand your here for some sort of negotiations, but it may be safer to have these talks in an area we can control. For all we know this may be a trap, and simply being in this room may be the trigger." Ventasia simply looked at the male solider, arms crossed over her chest. Undoubtedly, what what he said was a possibility, but she sensed nothing as of now. She scoffed heavily as she turned her back to the male, moving to face the window. "Safe, huh? Fine. Here's safe for you. You two are to stand outside and guard from there. No questions, no and's or if's. Dismissed." Both the men sighed lightly as they moved back into the hall, taking position on both sides of the door as it closed behind them. "....A trap. huh?"

@[member="Daxton Bane"]

Daxton strode down the corridor as if he owned the place, ignoring the pair of guards posted outside as if they were of little consequence, although mentally he considered how quickly he could dispatch them should a fight break out. Probably ten seconds tops, if he wanted a challenge and only used one blade.

The door slid open and he walked into the room, pasting a smile on his face, he greeted the other occupant of the room. "Hello there. I wasn't expecting anyone so soon after I arrived. You are?"

Hearing the doors behind her slide open, Ventasia glanced back over her shoulder, narrowing her eyes at the male who'd entered. She simply stared at him. On the surface, he looked as normal as any other jedi. It only served to make her question things more. After all, Dressel was relativity peaceful. And the Jedi were smart enough to know that was tended to follow them. It simply made no sense to send someone to a world which had not only stayed out of galactic affairs, but was overall just minding their own business. Part of her wished she'd have kept her saber in the bag instead of attaching it to her person. There was no hiding what she was by this point. "Not interested in pleasantries. But I am curious why a Jedi would be sent somewhere that keeps it's nose clean."

@[member="Daxton Bane"]

"Oh my, that was rather direct." Feigning surprise, he ignored her question for a few minutes as he walked to an empty seat and sat down. "I didn't realize being Jedi was a crime. Nor can I imagine what would raise such a suspicion with you. My name is Sebastian Watts, by the way. A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Secretly in his heart, Daxton was clapping in glee, this is precisely what he wanted. Suspicion and doubt to follow the Jedi no matter where they went. So he played his cards close for a little while.

"To answer your question, why am I here? Well, believe it or not, we seek peaceful worlds to build temples for meditation and study. That is why I am here. My master sent me here to discuss with the locals about the possibility of opening a training facility on this world. Surely that wouldn't be in conflict with your interest on this world, now would it?"

Daxton sent a light mental probe against the functionary who brought him here. It would be too risky to play his hand against an unknown factor so he choose a target with more limited mental defenses. Who was this woman? What were her intentions?

"There's no pleasure in this meeting. Believe me." Her head turned back towards the window, eyes gazing out at the landscape as they awaited the arrival of the planet's leader. Ventasia pondered deep within her mind. She knew something was a miss. These people certainly weren't hostile, so they would have informed Omega that this meeting wouldn't be one on one. Upon being briefed, there was no mention of Republic....well, anything. And that included the Jedi. The fact that world was picked struck her as odd as well. The Jedi built temples on worlds where they could concentrate and be at peace, with the exception of Coruscant. While this world may match that criteria, one thing they didn't do was make it known to the inhabitants. The temples were usually built well out of the way, not anywhere near a capital. One thing was for sure, Ventasia could smell a rat, and all rats get caught eventually.

She turned around fully to face the man who'd taken a seat. "I'll be blunt with you. I don't believe a word your saying. Either your no Jedi, or your here without your council's permission. Possibly an attempt to impress them and gain more rank. Either way, I don't care. While the second is more likely, considering I highly doubt you'd be dumb enough to impersonate a Jedi, I'm certainly not ruling out the first, At least, not yet. Just so you know where I stand." If one thing never changed, it was that Ventasia was never afraid to show her cards, no matter how unsure she was about having a winning hand.

@[member="Daxton Bane"]

Ah so that is who she is. Daxton couldn't help but smile as he plucked the juicy piece of information from his unsuspecting victim. This would work wonders if he could get her to attack him, after all that would taint the OP in the eyes of the locals. Who in their right mind would strike a peace loving Jedi?

"Such hostility, my my. Did someone stick a fly in your soup when you're not looking?" Daxton's grin was a cross between amusement and a sneer. "You said you were curious and I told you why I am here. Whether you believe me or not is irrelevant. Are you angry because you weren't told the Jedi might be here? That wouldn't be surprising if it was above your pay grade. But then the Order does not answer to your faction. We don't need to seek your permission to go where we want or do what we must. That must really stick to your craw. That for all your bluster, you are really powerless to do anything. Now normally I wouldn't be this blunt and I am sure Grandmaster Watts would disagree with me. But frankly you're mean and mean people need to told the truth in their face no matter how mule headed they are to begin with."

Leaning back in his chair, Daxton waited to see how she would react to the veiled insult he just made.

Check mate. For Ventasia, the words that came from the male's mouth gave her everything she needed to fully disbelieve him. Where as she had simply spoke her mind, he was now obviously moving to provoke her. One thing was certain, this 'Jedi' had a plan. No, an agenda. The question for her now simply remained of who he was. Simply disguised as a Jedi, or one that had taken things into his own hands. Her lips simply curved into a cot smile as she enjoyed the ongoing game of psychological warfare between the two. She rolled her head towards one side, causing her neck to make a few popping sounds as she simply stared back at the man. "My, my. You are quite the fool. No, to figure how deep your deception goes. Then again, I could always just contact the Jedi personally. I do have a few contacts still remaining after all. Perhaps you unknowingly played your hand a bit too early..."

Just as she spoke, the door slid open once more, an elder alien stepping into the room flanked by his adviser. He flashed both Ventasia and the male a light smile as he made his way to a chair on the other side of the room. "I hope I didn't keep the two of you waiting too long. A few unexpected surprises were brought to my attention."

Ventasia watched the elderly man hobble about the room before returning her eyes to the 'Jedi' who was seemingly challenging her. "Not at all. We were just getting to know one another."

@[member="Daxton Bane"]

Daxton wasn't in the least bit worried. After all, this persona was not only backstopped all the way in the records of the Jedi Council, and completely without their knowledge, it had also passed the test on multiple worlds. His Watts persona was getting quite the reputation among the Outer Rim worlds where a 'friendly' Jedi could be had for the right connections.

"Not at all your Grace. We were just about to begin a lesson in manners when you arrived. Now perhaps we can discuss in detail our proposal to build a temple on your world."

Daxton continued to bait her, by ignoring her presence as if she were nothing more than fly on the wall. Waiting and hoping she would loose her temper with him in front of a witness.

Ventasia was many things. Agitated? Check. Irritated? Check. Annoyed? Double check. But stupid? That was one thing she had never been. Maybe she'd made stupid mistakes, but that certainly didn't describe her. Being constantly angry gave her one thing, if nothing else. She knew when someone was simply pulling at her strings. As much as she certainly wanted to blow the jedi out the window, it wouldn't gain her anything. As a matter of fact, it would only serve to work against her. In this type of situation, her cooler head would be needed to prevail, and that much was obvious. She had to remain somewhat calm, at least for now. Just until this one showed his hand.

The elderly alien looked to both of them before nodding his head slightly. "Indeed. I must admit, I was shocked to hear of interest in our planet. It would be a great honor to have Dressel be home to the Jedi. The people would more than welcome you all with open arms. it would certainly bring more eyes to us, if this was known. Though I must ask; what brings about this sudden interest? We have never had dealings with your Republic before, let alone with the Jedi."

Ventasia simply stood there, her eyes remaining locked on the jedi. While it may have seemed like she was looking straight through him, in actuality she was simply plotting on how to remain at least one step ahead.

"Actually it shouldn't be surprising after all. The Grandmaster has determined that given the recent aggressive expansion by the various factions, it would be a prudent move to put up small training camps on unaligned worlds. The objective is twofold, not only would the padawan and knight gain a practical experience with the local customs but also allow us to deploy more quickly to deal with any threats to the nearby systems. Now we wouldn't be putting a full fledged temple here to begin with. Perhaps a small training camp and hotocultural station so we can study the local flora and fauna for our records. So you see it is nothing any one should be overly concerned about, unless of course, they have something to hide."

Using very subtle mind manipulation, he made his suggestion perfectly reasonable to the minister. After all where was the threat in agreeing to that?

Rebellious Vanguard
Oh, how she could never stay quiet. Standing listening to the jedi spout his pointless babble. She didn't want to jump the gun and ma herself seem like an antagonist, but she wasn't just going to stand there with her lips locked. Her eyes locked onto those of the jedi, taking a few seconds to seemingly plan something out in her head. She created a different reaction and outcome for different situations. Now it all depended on which route the jedi took.

"Right. Because the jedi are all about peace. Lets be realistic here. The Jedi are are the Republic's sword. Now what do you think will happen if your planet houses the sword of the Republic? It won't be long until the Empire sets there sights on you. Not saying the jedi will bring ruin themselves, but surely it will follow. And what will you do when your people are suffering because the Sith come to take what they want? The jedi can't protect you against everything. Not to mention they will cause more fighting to follow them here. I'm not going to promise you'll never see bloodshed, but the Protectorate is known for bringing the fight to the enemy. There's a reason why you don't hear about a war breaking out on Corellia or Fondor. But the Jedi can't say the same."

The elder alien glanced toward Ventasia as she spoke before looking back toward the jedi, his head nodding slightly. "She speaks the truth. What say, Master Jedi? "

@[member="Daxton Bane"]

"So you would rather have the Protectorate build a military base here and annex your world. Consider this your honor. We offer you full cooperation, we even went so far as acknowledge your laws and sovereignity, by seeking a partnership with you. While on the other hand, the Protectorate demands your subjugation and surrender. Annexation and transformation into another meaningless cog in their war machine, is that what you honestly want?"

"The proof is in right before you. The Jedi Council send me, a representative of Grandmaster Watts, a single Jedi with no fancy armor, no high tech weapons, a diplomat and a man of peace. The Protectorate sent this woman, an ill mannered arrogant brute who understands nothing more than insults and demands, along with an armed escort. Ask yourself, your Grace, what possible threat could there be on this world to require a military force such as this?"

"The answer is simple. There isn't one. In all likelihood, she and her goons are probably here to pressure you to accept their terms and failing that perhaps arrange for someone to suffer an accident if things don't go their way. That is the nature of bullies, that is the nature of the Protectorate and that makes them no better than the Sith."

@[member="Ventasia Terana"]

Rebellious Vanguard
Bullies? No better than the Sith? If it wasn't for the fact that she needed to keep a level head right now, Ventasia likely would've blown a gasket.

"Must admit, I find it odd how you feel the need to verbally attack the Protectorate and me. All I said was that war follows the Republic, especially Jedi. While you basically took the chance to call us tyrants and basically galactic criminals. I would say I'm appalled, but it takes more than that to get a rise out of me." No, it didn't. Well, not usually anyway. "We're not going to build anything that wasn't already here. No one is pressing you under a thumb and demanding you accept anything. What path you choose for your people is up to you, but consider this. We have no on-going war for you to be dragged into. No galaxy wide conflict. Hell, we'd even help these fools if they came to us and asked for it. I haven't said anything since my arrival that would classify me as a bully, for a lack of a better term. The Jedi is simply throwing rocks because he's afraid of throwing of grabbing an actual weapon. I should know. I was a Jedi, at one point. But I chose my own path, un-like some. As for your interpretation of me.."

Her eyes drifted back towards the window, simply gazing out as she sighed lightly. "I am who I am. Temperamental? Sure. A bit on the violent side? Indeed. But I'm far from ill-mannered because I simply choose to freely speak my mind. And surely, I'm not brute. Though I am quiet arrogant. Cocky, as well. I have no reason to attack an entire nation of people because of how one acts, so I'm not about to play his game." If it weren't for the fact that this were her job, she wouldn't know how to pull this type of thing off.

The minister looked to both of them as they traded jabs, sighing lightly as he rose from his seat and began heading toward the door. "Oh dear. Yu both are quiet the people. And you both make excellent points. But I must discuss with my advisers." The elderly alien stepped from the room, flashing them both a smile as he waddled off, leaving the two alone once more.

@[member="Daxton Bane"]

"As you will, your Grace." Daxton replied amicably as if he had not a care in the world, rising from his chair as the leader left the romm. The Sith was disappointed his foe did not outright attack him, but then it was no small loss.

If he wasn't wrong, they were both under surveillance, perhaps video or the room was wired for sound. He would most certainly do so if the positions were reversed.

If he couldn't get her to attack him one way then he would have to use another approach, one just as sneaky and totally undetectable to any outside observers.

Turning to face his foe, he smiled politely at her, then without warning lashed out with mental barbs that stoked her deepest darkest fears. Daxton was a master of mental manipulation, his gifts combined with the power of the Dark Heart made him a deadly mental assassin.

Even if she could put up mental defenses, she wouldn't last long under such a vicious malicious assault.

His face a careful mask of concern and interest, he coolly asked her, "Are you all right, my dear?"

A small sigh escaped her lips as the Dessel leader left the room, leaving the two of them alone once again. Ventasia couldn't deny, it was good to have a moment of peace. This one was testing her patience. But that only lasted so long.

It felt as if something was creeping into her mind, eating away at her subconscious. She couldn't immediately place her finger on what it was, but she figured it out quick enough. Her hands rubbed at her temples lightly as she shook her head. "For Force sake, you really love to push your luck. Well, at least you've finally revealed what I already suspected. You are certainly no Jedi." She turned her head to look once more at the now obvious Jedi impostor as she visibly gritted her teeth. Yet, her lips still curved into a coy smile. "I suspect your either here to begin an occupation for whoever you work for. That, or you have a target. This place is so out of the way, that if there was a target, it could only be one person."

The gritting of her teeth halted, and her grin turned from coy to sadistic, laced with a sinister laughter. "I've seemingly knew every move you were going to make before you made them. I even called them, yet you were so arrogant that you didn't even try to change anything. I'd say your playing with your life here. So, are you willing to bet your life that you cans till win this little game? Lets be honest. The only way out of this for you now, is to kill me. But that would reveal yourself to everyone. So, I guess the question is how long do you think it'll take me to put the final pieces together?"

Sometimes. being hard-headed came in handy. This was one of those times. It wasn't that Ventasia wasn't being affected by the mental blast. It just wasn't the first time she faced something that seemed to openly claw at her. She could push back against it, though the question remained of how long before it took a negative effect on her.

@[member="Daxton Bane"]

Careful to keep a puzzled look on his face for the cameras, Daxton seemed to lean back in his chair in confusion. "I have no idea what you are blabbering about. There is no conspiracy, my dear girl. Its all in your head."

Using invisible tendrils of Force, he threw the full power of Force Horror into her mind. No matter what psychic defenses she might have, they would be no match against his skill. Battering her mind, he drew her deepest darkest fears and made them manifest before her eyes.

"Oh dear, you don't look to well." Daxton said with sly smile on his lips. "Perhaps you should lie down for awhile."
