- Strength in Numbers: When deployed in packs, as designed, Ananke platforms synchronize their frequency emissions, creating a powerful overlapping effect that accelerates behavioral conditioning and deepens population compliance. This networked operation makes entire planetary populations susceptible to suble control far faster than any single platform could achieve alone.
- A small target, but still a target: Due to their relatively small frame and minimal armament, the Ananke platform cannot withstand sustained fire from a capital-grade warship. Their protective strength lies in subtly, masquerading as key elements of the civilian communications network, making them vulnerable if discovered and attacked.
The Ananke-pattern Orbital Communications Platform is not a weapon. It does not level cities, nor does it boast the broadsides of a battle station. It is a scalpel, not a hammer. Devised as the cutting edge of the a new Imperial doctrine of Total Dominion, the Ananke-pattern is an unassuming structure—small, quiet, and almost laughably modest when compared to the sprawling bastions of earlier Imperial defense constructs. Officially, it is a communications node, a high-orbit relay installed to coordinate signals between surface authorities and orbital infrastructure.
But in truth, it is the most insidious machine of control the Galactic Empire has ever created.
Originally conceptualized in the final years of the Dark Empire under Project Black Bastion, the first Ananke prototype was launched as an experiment in subtle planetary pacification. Sith alchemists, COMPNOR sociologists, and deep-sector Inquisitors sought to perfect a method of conquest that bypassed the need for boots on the ground. They believed that true domination required not just obedience—but loyalty born from memory itself. They succeeded.
At the heart of each Ananke-pattern lies a Subconscious Resonance Core, a Sith-alchemically augmented lattice of field nodes and psychic harmonic amplifiers. These do not control minds—but instead emit minute, carefully calibrated frequencies that gently alter behavior over time. Through pulse-layered signals disguised as part of normal holonet traffic, the platform implants latent messages into broadcasts, advertisements, education programs—even planetary emergency alerts. Over the span of weeks, then months, populations grow less rebellious, more trusting, more obedient. The process is never noticed. The results, however, are unmistakable.
The population would never know it was being touched by the dark side. They would simply feel differently over time. Less rebellious. Less curious. More faithful. More trusting of the Empire. A child who once idolized a Rebel pilot would grow up idolizing an ISB field agent. A student who questioned war would begin to speak of order, stability, and duty. The planet would pacify itself, and no blood need be spilled.
The first full deployment, in the deep Core world of Kalist, resulted in a complete societal shift within eighteen standard months. The resistance cell dissolved. Education curriculums began to favor Imperial economic theory. Entire generations stopped naming their children after local heroes—and began naming them after Imperial governors. There was no invasion. No purging. The planet had simply forgotten how to disobey. Ananke's design had been vindicated.
The original Ananke was lost in the chaos following the death of Palpatine's final clone—its schematics purged, its alchemic designs dismissed as mysticism by warlords too obsessed with firepower to see its deeper value. But with the return of Emperor Solipsis, the architects of his Galactic Empire rediscovered fragments of Project Black Bastion in sealed ISB vaults. It was Mordane, the Empire's cold, unflinching military prodigy, who saw its potential not as a relic—but as a weapon of the future. Under his direction, the Ananke-pattern was revived and refined, stripped of its more theatrical components, and remade into a perfect blend of Sith tradition and modern Imperial control.
The power of the Ananke-pattern is not in the damage it inflicts, but in the silence it leaves behind. There are no screams, no blasterfire, no craters. Only a stillness. A calm. A population that wakes one day convinced it was always loyal. And for those who still remember? They remember alone. They remember in whispers.
And in time… they, too, forget.
