An Endless Waltz

With the few months that had passed since that time spent in a temple; it dawned upon the Baroness that she was still needed to appear in public functions every now and again. Of course it couldn't hurt to have a few friends to rub elbows with; be they important or not, everyone had their uses. The Baroness knew this, contemplated this as her servant pulled upon the strings of the half corset that stopped just above her stomach, which had begun to show a small bump. It had been about three maybe fourth months since the day; and her husband still thought that the twins were his, which was exactly what she wanted. A smirk crossed her lips as the servant came around with the large ornate gown that she would be wearing that night.

Aiding the Baroness to slip it over her form, the deep and dark purple gown flowed over her as she carefully smoothed out a few wrinkles along the sleeves. The gown had a two fold reason to be worn; one being it showed off the expensive tastes and otherwise immense wealth of the Magrath family, with the second being to hide her stomach. As she finished with the lace sleeves that ran from her shoulders to her wrist a soft purr filled the air. Looking down at the large nexu that was now rubbing its head against her side she smiled before running her hand along its head lightly. The beast had been by her side for many years now, raised from a cub by her own hand; and more of a protector than a pet. After all, the nexu remembered whom fed and cared for it when it was younger; showing more dedication to the Baroness than any guard would.

With the hour growing near she nodded to herself as she placed the finishing touches upon her cosmetics and her hair. Letting it flow freely like a river of flames as it cascade down upon her shoulders and back. A soft breeze moved through the home; as many of the windows had been opened on the dull and stuffy night. The breeze aiding in slightly pushing her hair back as she walked down the hall. By now the guests were to be arriving; with the large ball room beneath the grand staircase to fill with all manner of beings; mainly humans. The Baroness remained quiet as she walked to the large round balcony that over looked the main entrance, watching as her guest arrived.

Her fingers tapping out a small rhythm as the band in the ball room began to slowly warm up their instruments. It wasn't like a normal band; no, she didn't want any of that 'jizz' that the Bith bands would play in some dingy cantina. Rather she had paid for only the best musicians that had taken the time and learned how to play the string instruments that she was so fond of. Who knew, if they were any good, they may end up with a solid job after that night.

Sarri arrived as one of the first invited guests, and he didn't fail to disappoint in showing that he wanted absolutely nothing to do with anybody. He accomplished this wonderous feat by standing off to the side, arms crossed, sizing everyone up at the party. He'd come here for dealings, but there were 'monkeys' (by his definition, at least) bumping about like blind children to get to the music venue, each other, or to try and grease some palms. He should've worn some bindings for his lekkus, as he figured that after a few visits to the bar, people would get as touchy-feely as ever.

He missed being on his ship in the two seconds he'd gotten in here. He wished he hadn't taken the time to dress up for this social event. The only damn thing he didn't wish was for the music to change-- it was a refreshing change from the usual bump-n-thump that came from young people trying to throw flamboyant parties. He'd offer his appreciation to the man or woman behind this, but his extreme prejudice against anyone with hair on their heads resulted in him being completely unable to determine one humanoid from another. That's karma, kicking him right in the teeth.

The aggressive-looking Twi'lek decided to not chance talking to an imposter and took a glass of champagne, idly wafting the scent of it under his noise and swirling the mixture as he maintained his distance from the crowd. He'd do his best to look the part of an 'esteemed guest', but right now he was just trying to get his bearings. He was never entirely certain how to handle these social gatherings, especially when most of these go sour with the occasional terrorist threat, gun fight, or jedi raid.

Lucien had been pleased to receive an invitation to a ball having not been to a good one in a long time. He had therefore decided to have a new set of white tie attire tailored. He had insisted on using only the finest fabric, He had also had his yacht valeted. This ball would be an entertaining en devour. He may even begin courting again Meret had been distant for some time.

So the evening found Lucien stood in the lounge of his yacht as an army of servants prepped him, He was eventually dressed into his suit an evening scarf draped over his shoulders. He picked up a pair of white gloves from the mantle piece then pulled on his overcoat. it was time he made his entrance. He strode up to the Baronesses front door and handed his invitation to the door person and had a servant take his coat and gloves before entering the ballroom it was customary for the guests to greet their host first and foremost so he sought out the baroness.

The Baroness herself was taking her own moment to size up those whom were in attendance to the ball that she was hosting. Of course the high ceiling of the manor house coupled with the rather shielded balcony that ran its way around the length of the ball room helped. Her hands slightly running along the banisters as she moved from one end of the ball room to the other. Her golden eyes running back and forth over the faces that she could see. The nexu at her side purring slightly in tone to the beat of the music as the string orchestra that she managed to book with a few enticements at the last moment. Her own fingers tapped against the railing as she noticed that not everyone of note that she had invited had seemed to arrive just yet. Of course she couldn't just make her presence known at that moment when there were others whom were still to a point, late to the event.

Quietly watching from the shadows she made her own notes of those that seemed to be avoiding the event proper. Her gaze glancing towards the Twi'lek that was aiding in holding up the wall; even though the load bearing pillars did not need the added aid in doing so. A small smirk crossing her lips as she leaned forward slightly, watching the other whom had arrived making his own way through the party. No doubt attempting to be the gentleman guest and seek out the host or hostess for the evening. Her hand coming to her lips and aiding in stifling a small giggle at the thought.

With others still needing to arrive though she let out a small sigh. Her sight looking to the Nexu before she scratched its head. It was trained, and knew not to turn any of the guest into chew toys unless on its mistress' command. Quietly the Baroness moved towards the large double stairs at the end of the ball room, stepping down as her hand ran along the railing gracefully. The Nexu following as a servant at the bottom announced her appearance.

The gentle clicking of heels and a large feral colisseum-bait beast drew Sarri's attention from the glass. Or rather, it caused him to tilt his head in its direction. The nexu was far more interesting to him than the woman, though that's simply because he'd been pooling his money into maybe getting a pit of his own with a decorative creature. His gaze drew upwards at a slow, wary pace as he recalled the rules of the party; no bodyguards. Either that nexu was disturbingly intelligent, or this was the lady of the house exercising her ability to bend the rules.

The servant's announcement only validated it. The Twi'lek raised his half-empty glass in a quiet 'toast' to her presence, and that was as far as he was going to be getting for a while. He had great patience, and patience was necessary in situations like this when everyone and their mother was lined up to meet and greet the woman and her expensive companion. He planned on trying to gain the Baroness' favor at some point in the evening, though hopefully before the alcohol boosted his confidence more than necessary.

He took the opportunity that was given from everyone gravitating towards the Baroness to walk across the room and mutter to the musicians, discussing their available repertoire.

Lucien examined the other guests wilsr he waited for the baroness. They were the usual people a mix of fools and geniuses. He had heard tell that his former master would be in attendance but he was yet to see him. He trusted [member="Mikhail Shorn"] would arrive eventually after all the night was only just beginning and Mikhail seemed to enjoy "Shaking up" formal gatherings.

Lucien heard the baroness descend from behind him and made his way closer, his assertion was confirmed as a servant announced her Presence he moved slowly through the crowd discretely nudging past people until he was at the forefront of the crowd. He swiped a glass of champagne from a server and approached the baroness and her pet "You Grace, thank you for inviting me here" Lucien said with a polite bow of his head.
