Not open for further replies.
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To provide a planet for Ela Saako to rule as Proconsul
  • Canon: N/A
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet Name: Amandras III
  • Demonym: Amandrasian
  • Region: Outer Rim
  • System Name: Amandras
  • System Features: Two uninhabitable terran worlds, followed by a habitable world (Amandras III), followed by two gas giants with lots of uninhabitable moons, and a large belt of asteroids. Beyond that belt of asteroids, you have a nebula that prevents any person from looking out into space and vice versa.
  • Coordinates: AL-19
  • Major Imports: Doesn't important anything, it's pre-space-age
  • Major Exports: Dito.
  • Unexploited Resources: Various variety of timbers, aqueous silver, durasteel, cortosis as well as various beasts that can be captured and sold.
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: Standard x 1.2
  • Climate: Tropical
  • Primary Terrain: Oceans, Jungles, Rivers.
  • Atmosphere: Type I
LOCATION INFORMATION
POPULATION
  • Native Species: None
  • Immigrated Species: A large population of humans, although they have degenerated to being essentially pre-industrial humanoids.
  • Population: Sparse
  • Demographics: The population consists of a sparse population of degenerated humans settled in small settlements across the planet. Most of them are hunters, farmers, artisans and warriors, with a small class of force-sensitive aristocrats ruling over them.
  • Primary Languages: Various forms of Basic, due to the degeneration and sparseness of the population.
  • Culture: The culture of the species is dominated by the belief in a Dark Sided religion called Noctus, which seems to exist solely to justify the existence of the aristocracy ruling over the planet. This involves deference to the class of aristocrats (many of whom have primitive, uncontrolled dark-sided force powers) and the belief in the arrival of a dark-sided prophet being. All activities on the planet are based around it.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: Feudal, with various lordly houses ruling over large areas of the planet.
  • Affiliation: None
  • Wealth: Poor. It's a pre-industrial world. Of course it's poor.
  • Stability: Medium. The planet experiences a rather high level of peace, due in no small part to the fear of being blasted into non-existence by the force lightning used by aristocratic lords to maintain their power. The occasional war between lordly houses erupts however.
  • Freedom & Oppression: The aristocratic, feudal nature of the system means there is hardly any freedom for the lower classes.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: At this point, they're in the late Iron Age. Conflicts have a mix of sword and shield fighting mixed with primitive force powers.
  • Technology: Essentially equivalent to the late Middle Ages.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Amandras III, for most of its history, was uninhabited. That changed four-hundred years ago, when a small contingent of explorers from Dromund Kaas arrived. Part of the reason it took so long to colonize was due to the large nebula surrounding the cluster where it was located. It was long thought to be unexplorable, until some technological advance allowed them to find it. However, when humanoids arrived, the disease infested planet however took its toll on the settlers, and the few that survived were relegated to being primitive humanoids.

Amandras III was home to a dark-sided nexus, created by the death of a powerful Sith Lord named Darth Amandras. Having fled a death sentence imposed by the Sith Empire, he fled into the once-though unexplorable nebula only to land on Amandras III. His death created a large conduit of dark-sided energy, which granted unique sensitivity to the dark side if you lived several years within a 2000-mile radius.

Eventually, some of the degenerated humans developed high-levels of dark sided ability (despite no formal training). This sensitivity, although increased by proximity to the nexus, decreased with intermarriage with non-dark-side humanoids. These force sensitives realized that by closing the nexus and by inter-marrying among themselves, they and their progeny could dominate the planet.

...and that's exactly what they did. Somehow, one dark-side sensitive named Clovisia managed to close access to the nexus. Her studies allowed her to gain a rudimentary skill at dark side force powers. These force powers were then controlled among a priestly order and made to serve the interests of the aristocracy.

They conquered all of the planet and subjugated the other humans, making them into serfs. The group then splintered apart, creating a dozen or so small fiefdoms ruled by lordly houses, all headed by a Genarch. Sexism, surprisingly, was not existent, given the fact the powers granted by the nexus did not discriminate between male and female. Many genarchs were female, and there were stories of great female warriors.

Hundreds of years passed, and the system is still existent. The kingdoms are ruled over with an iron fist, with a silver and gold based currency (derived from hydro-metallurgical of gold and silver) being used to maximally enrich the aristocracy. The occasional war breaks about, but the concert of the dozen powers generally means that war is rare, given the system of alliances usually keeps everything balanced.

Recently, explorers from Saako Exploration and Shipping Corporation have rediscovered the planet, making it open to exploitation by the Sith Empire. Lady Saako is likely to be the Noctian Prophetess, as she sees reason to claim the planet as her own proconsulate.

Alright, looking over this I've got a couple things that are worth commenting on.

First, the Force Nexus field is for a planet wide nexus, not a finite area nexus. This kinda goes hand in hand with the Major Locations section since you also have the nexus listed there, but without a description. To get this fixed up, you can either remove the Nexus as a Major Location, and convert it to a Planet Wide nexus, OR you can make a submission using THIS FORM to create a smaller scale nexus, and expand on the Major Location listing with a small description of it (Optionally you can link to it, but it's not required).

With that being said, there's a couple things I wouldn't mind seeing expanded upon in the submission. First and foremost, the fact that it's not a space-faring planet, and yet is nearby Dromund Kaas. It's certainly not unheard of for planets to become home for a species that does not posses star-faring technology, but those planets are often times out in the unexplored regions where colonists or explorers are marooned due to some kind of technical failure. As such, it might not hurt to add in a blurb to the historical info to help explain why the planet is located so close to a major civilization and has not been discovered and/or tampered with in any way prior to the arrival of Saako Exploration.

Also, you mention that the effect of the Force Nexus is to enable Force Sensitivity for anyone within 2k Miles, and yet it was "Closed off" by Clovisia, meaning that only a small group was able to maintain their Force Sensitivity, thus making them the rulers of the planet's populace. Does this mean that an entire two thousand square mile section of the planet is under quarantine, has the nexus been destroyed, or something else entirely? This one sort of depends on the outcome of the Nexus, and if you convert it to a localized entity, or a full planet nexus, so I'd recommend getting that squared away first, THEN you can consider expanding on this particular detail.

So at the very least, get the first little bit taken care of, and we can get this rolled on to stage two!

For quick reference:

You MUST pick Planetary nexus, remove Nexus from major locations, OR pick Localized Nexus, add description to Major Locations, and remove Planetary nexus.

You CAN expand on why the planet has gone unnoticed for so long, but it is NOT required

You CAN expand on how the nexus was "Closed off" but this is NOT required, and dependant on the results of the required change listed above.

[member="Voph"] I added why the planet was long avoided in the description. Can you give me a pointer as to how I can format the major locaiton for the Nexus?

[member="Ela Saako"]

The nexus would necessitate creating a submission specifically for it as a location sub, using this form. Once that's posted, you could link to it as the description in the Major Locations. Otherwise, all you'd really need is to list the name of the location, and a small blurb about it and why it's important.

[member="Voph"]

Alright. Is it okay if I post the location creation post without having explicitly created the planet? Cause if so, I'll whip it up, wait till its approved, and then post it here.

[member="Ela Saako"]

That's perfectly fine, especially if you state in the intent that the Nexus is being created for a planet sub.

On an unrelated note, I got a chance to look over your changes, and while mentioning that the planet is hidden in a nebula is a great idea, I also notice that you didn't add this nebula to system features. Might not hurt to consider giving it a mention under that heading while you're at it. Otherwise, just tag me once the other sub has been moved through, and we'll keep moving forward with this one.

Saw you got your nexus sub up, soon as you get that added in under Major Locations, and remove the Force Nexus section, we can get this approved.

Per the new codex rules:

  • Codex Submissions in the Species, Location, NPCs, and Lore forums will be mass approved randomly once a month unless otherwise specified.
Since you don't want to add a link to the sub as I suggested, you are welcome to simply update the nexus information with a short description, and submit a modification thread after the nexus gets approved to link it with the planet.

The Force Nexus section is for planet wide Force Nexuses. As yours is a localized Nexus, you'll want to link it under the Major location listing for the tomb, (Again, as this is in lieu of a description for said location), and you can mark N/A on all Force Nexus fields, or you can simply remove that section outright as it does not apply to this submission

You'll still have to move the link to the Major Locations section, but theoretically yes. Once you get that back to me I'll give it a final once over and hopefully we'll get you on to level 2
