    During the unification era, the nobles gradually grew dissatisfied with the diminishing extent of their power, prompting a successful coup d'état. This pivotal event compelled the reigning King of Archais to relinquish significant authority to the nobility and enact a writ that would later form the foundation of Alsakan's constitution. The writ delineated the crucial role of the Primarch, representing the interests of the nobles to the king, and instituted a general court, which would eventually evolve into the House of Lords.
