Chaeronea appeared in the distance, a green and blue orb that shone through the massive bridge viewport. From a distance, the planet seemed completely normal, not hinting any signs that large-scale battles were erupting around its body, one might not even realise the intense fighting that would be occurring down on the surface. Oh how looks can be deceiving. Streaks of light came into view as the Adamant made its way into the planetary system, backed by three over cruisers, packed to the brim with relief support for those down on the surface. As the Mon Calamari warship crept closer, the enemies fleet's came into view, turbolasers and fighters seeming to ignore the small gathering that had snuck into the system.
"Approach with caution. No doubt they've picked up on us by now." came the calm, yet authoritative voice of Admiral Fazaed, a Duro's female leading the relief fleet to the surface. Looking down on the seemingly distressed flight officer, she cast him a cold stare before turning back to her holographic display, watching as multiple images of the incoming warships appeared on her screen. "I want all fighters prepped for launch. Have the turbolasers warmed up and their gunners at the ready. We have our allies on the ground, but who knows what has been going on up in orbit. I'm not going to chance a betrayal today." she said, passing on her orders to her aide, a small Chadra-Fan, holding a small datapad between his paws.
"I'm on it Admiral." he said, busily relaying the orders into his datapad. The soft buzz of hydraulics echoed throughout the bridge, a comforting sound as the Admiral continued to gaze out towards the approaching blockade. If the information they had received proved valid, then this section of the planet should be controlled by those of the Omega Protectorate, temporary allies of the Silver Order, and hopefully friendly enough to allow the four cruisers passage to the surface. The bridge was silent as the blockade drew closer, intricate paneling and turbolaser placement now becoming visible upon the hull.
"This is Admiral Fazaed of the Adamant, requesting permission to enter the atmosphere. Transmitting clearance codes now." The Duro's voice again broke the silence, as the soft tapping of keys echoed through the chamber as all waited in anticipation, eyes fixed on the weaponry now trained on them. The Admiral chose to ignore the turrets, putting on a brave face as she looked out towards the planet just within arms reach. The relief fleet hadn't received anymore updates since their final entry into hyperspace, and even then that had taken several days to reach the system unscathed. Fazaed wondered whether the situation had changed, whether the members of the Omega had broken the fragile alliance and had gone off on their own. All would soon be answered one way or another.
"We read you Adamant. Everything checks out. You are clear to proceed." A sigh broke out among the crew members, as everyone let go of their breath. A small smile grew upon the aged woman's lips as she suppressed a nervous chuckle. They were not going to die today, it seemed. Immediately members of the crew returned to their duties, with many aboard, rushing off towards the hangars to prep their shuttles and various LAAT's for take off, delivering the first wave of troops ahead of the main body. Fazaed let out her own sigh of relief, as the snow capped mountains grew into view. The place seemed to picturesque for her liking, as if the planet itself was hiding the true horrors it held. Well we're about to find out either way, she thought, returning to her on-board display.
The Shi'ido's body bumped as she was again awoken from her day dreaming, pulled back into the tense, silent scene of the LAAT before her. It wasn't surprising, they had all heard of what had gone on so far down on the surface, how many of their comrades, their friends had been harmed in some way, shape or form by the resistance. It was only natural to feel this way before the storm. Rasu too was nervous in a way, having not experienced such a battle since her time on O'reen. This would be completely different however, with the Jedi Master now being placed in charge of Oxford Company, a fragment of the much larger Sixth Battalion, the mass of men that were making quite a name for themselves back on Voss. Although she was sure the praise would seem worthless to those on the surface, having become traumatized by the horrific scenes that can only be found in the midst of war.
Holding up a hand as sunlight poured into the dim shuttle compartment, Rasu stepped out into the chilly air, not faltering as she continued immediately from the LAAT towards the command complex, leaving her men to arrange themselves and begin their own debriefing with members of the other companies. Picking up her stride, she hurried through the corridors of the base, the sound of chatter increasing behind her as more and more of her own company made it into the base. The Jedi slowed her pace as the Council chambers came into view, bringing her hands down to straighten her robes before entering the chambers, causing a lull to spread across the groups off commanding officers.
"Morning all." she said, offering a pleasant smile to those who had stared. "Sorry to keep you waiting, but our friends up in orbit seemed to be taking a while processing those clearance codes. How fares the battle? Bring me up to speed?"
