Description
In attempt to craft the future of the Imperial Remnants ground forces, Corvinus commissioned the AT-STM II to be designed and brought into reality by Reclaimer Arms. What the company came up with was a smaller, more compact successor to the classic AT-ST of Imperial fame. Like its predecessor, this vehicle is highly modular and can be fitted with different weapons and loadouts on the field of battle by simply releasing magnetic clamps keeping its armament in place. This allows for an extremely versatile platform capable of operating in various environments; from the cold reaches of Hoth to the treacherous jungles of Kashyyk.
Where this walker improves on its predecessor is in its speed and upgraded tactical displays. While the AT-ST lacked the advanced displays offered by starfighters, the AT-STM II has implemented a complete holographic display that gives readings on structural integrity, terrain, weapons and targeting while also offering 360 degree vision. This display is visible from both co-pilot and pilot seats, situated one in front of the other, by way of the viewport in the front of the vehicle. This means that any third occupant would be blind to the sitrep; unless he has HUD glasses or contacts of his own that can interlace with the walkers systems.
This generation of walker has also become more maneuverable, being much-less prone to trip-ups thanks to an improved gyroscope and motor joints. Another interesting features is the implementation of booster engines in the back of the vehicle. This allows the walker to ascend to heights double its own with a quick spurt from the thrusters. These thrusters only allow the vehicle to travel straight up however and have a short operational distance. They are also a weak point as a well placed rocket can cause a critical meltdown, crippling or completely destroying the vehicle.
When not in combat, the vehicle can e easily stored in any hanger rack by the hook located on its lower back, allowing for it to fold away into easy storage. For all of these strengths, however, the vehicle still suffers from the weak points of its predecessor. The vehicle is weak to rocket and anti-vehicle fire and its mid-section is still a blaring weak point. It does partially make-up though with its heavier armament, faster speed, improved displays and more flexible maneuverability.
