- Retractable Foodpad Blades.
- Appliqué Armor Panels for Vulnerable Areas.
- Modular Mounting Points.
- Versatile Armament: A combination of laser cannons and ordinance launchers lets the walker deal with a variety of different threats.
- Stability: The AT-AAW's reinforced leg system, combined with its slightly lower center of gravity, makes it far more difficult to topple over in battle.
- Modular: By utilizing a modular hardpoint system, the AT-AAW can swap out different weapons and equipment as needed, allowing it to engage in a number of different mission profiles that it was not originally designed for.
- Appliqué Armor Panels: Mahporeem has developed Appliqué Armor Panels for the walker, which can be installed or removed as needed. These panels are designed to cover particularly vulnerable areas of the vehicle.
- Ineffective Armor: Though effective against hand held blasters, the AT-AAW's armor is ineffective against dedicated anti-armor weaponry and vehicle mounted weapons. Even the installation of Appliqué Armor Panels does little to protect the vehicle from weapons of that particular class.
- Small Viewports: The AT-AAW's viewports are rather small, to prevent the driver and gunner from receiving incoming fire. This also makes it difficult to properly see out of the vehicle, especially in the heat of battle.
- Expensive: The redesign and upgrades provided to vehicle make it far more expensive and time consuming to produce than standard AT-STs, limiting its deployment by the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant.
- Crew Intensive: With only a total of two crew members, operating the AT-AAW can prove exhausting after prolonged use. This is especially prevalent on models with the E-Web Repeating Blaster, which requires the commander to open the hatch of the cockpit and manually operate the weapon.
The AT-ST has been a mainstay of Imperial Forces for decades, if not centuries. The walker's combination of speed, agility and firepower has always made it a valuable battlefield asset. That being said, the walker's weak armor and propensity to fall over has caused the Galactic Empire to seek alternative design ideas.
Enter the All Terrain Armored Assault Walker. Taking inspiration from the AT-PT, the AT-AAW has been extensively redesigned to make it more effective in combat. The walker's legs have been radically altered, being far thicker and sturdier than its predecessor, at the cost of some of the vehicle's height. This lowering of the vehicle does have the added side benefit of also lowering its center of gravity, though it does also lose a small amount of visibility as a result.
The walker's weapons and armors have also been overhauled with the addition of extra mounting points. The Imperial Remnant has developed a form of Durasteel Appliqué Armor Panels to cover particularly vulnerable areas of the vehicle, though the walker still remains vulnerable to heavy weapons. Nonetheless, the walker is capable of producing heavy firepower in a relatively compact package, though it remains far more expensive to manufacture than a standard AT-ST, limiting its deployment in the field.
