Description: A sphere composed of various sensors and repurposed components from a Stasis Booth and a Protocol Droid crammed into a head sized device, seeks to utilize the entropy field localized projector system of a Stasis Booth to "unsuspend" objects in time within a localized space. Where the entropy field in a Stasis Booth is used to decrease and "break down" localized entropy to the point of temporal stand-still, this miniaturized device seeks to destabilize such a field once in contact with one, by rapidly accelerating entropy within a localized space. In essence, its entire purpose is to "neutralize" any unnatural entropic manipulation that it comes across.
However, although it wasn't the intended purpose of the device, Akovin's Entropic Accelerator could be used as a weapon given its harrowingly problematic capabilities to a wearer if ever activated outside of a Stasis field. Where a Stasis field reduces entropy to produce a standstill in time, the accelerator obviously acts as a "fast forward" for the decay of objects within a localized sphere. An object or living being caught within the boundaries of the entropic accelerators field would probably be rapidly aged, watching the world around them slow down rapidly to a standstill, and cause the atmosphere entering it to speed up and disbursed in something similar to a shock wave to any outside observers.
A failsafe from this happening, since the accelerator is supposed to be worn rather than thrown as a grenade (risking it becoming damaged), it has a number of specialized sensors with their own stasis properties intended to detect and correct their time count whenever entering a stasis field. If there is a detection half a meter away, the device will activate the accelerator gradually to slowly counteract the nearby field.
It was also discovered that given this device was patched together in the space of thirty hours by a mere human with an incomplete knowledge of what she was tampering with, it is extremely likely to spark and short out if used for longer than forty-four seconds, and explode if used for longer than fifty seconds. Once deactivated the field lingers slightly for approximately six seconds as it dies.
So for instance, if the sensors malfunctioned (likely!) and "detected" an artificial entropic disturbance outside of an actual stasis field, and it self-activated, the wearer will still be affected by the field for several seconds even if they immediately shut off the device. The effects of course will be minimal, but still present. There is also a very high chance that the device once in use is radioactive to some extent, and probably has health risks if used for more than 30 seconds in one sitting or if otherwise used extensively... so it isn't advised to attempt to use it as a speed accelerant given the heightened entropy... for more reasons than just that. Using it for longer than a sum total of 90 seconds in a 24 hour period probably guarantees the contraction of cancer or some other life threatening genetic mutation.
Strengths:
- Prevents Stasis fields from totally affecting wearer up to a maximum of 45 seconds before electrical malfunction possibility, and 50 seconds before explosive malfunction possibility, with a lingering field time of six seconds.
- Improbably useful as an impromptu improvised time bomb (no pun intended)
- Improbably useful as a short term speed accelerant up to thirty seconds before major health risks become an issue, and before the device shorts out or detonates.
