Silver and blue lights danced across the view ports, bathing the interior of the cockpit in two-toned waves of light. The hyperspace lane carrying him across the vast expanse of space at speeds once barely fathomed before the tunnels coordinates were plotted, mapped and structured. Ever since the Nyriaanan had shifted from the depths of the Unknown regions attempting to discover a new direction in life, he'd found himself gravitating towards being a team player. It went against his nature, having been cutting his teeth out in the black on his own - and yet the circumstances had conspired to make things necessary to run with a group. He wasn't going to be on anyone's crew - he knew that much, but Gates had been a spacer from the first moment he strapped into a starship. While he might not be tbe best team player on foot, he was certainly an avid wingman, and he'd prove his salt. The console lit up like Lifeday, alerting him to the coordinates he'd jabbed in from Rogue Leader.
"Hey hey, they're playin' my song." Gates surmised as he released the lock from the yoke and drew down the hyperdrive actuator, letting the craft eject from the hyperspace tunnel, and visually blink into existence. The
Wild Goose maneuvered towards the three awaiting ships just outside of an asteroid field that loomed in the distance. The HWK-290's older design still held a rustic charm to the boxy feel of it's cockpit and body shape. It was still one of the most nimble and agile crafts in the Galaxy. What it lacked in armor plating, it made up for in maneuverability. There was a reason that she was named the Wild Goose, simply because anyone who decided to go after Gates was in for
that kind of chase. Bright blue light erupted behind each of the craft's wing sections propelling it through the star-lit sky and towards the awaiting formation. He hit the party channel with his Rogue Squadron leader and moved into position.
:: Rogue Two...reporting for....:: Gates paused as he shifted his gaze, locking eyes with someone who certainly not a spunky twi-lek. He'd paralleled right beside one of the Shadow squadron fighters, which caused his face to scrunch for a moment.
::...hang on....:: Gates immediately jerked the yoke to the side, thrusters fired off in succession as his craft dipped to the left and leveled up, inverting his fighter and drawing the
Wild Goose up and over all three fighters in a
loose barrel roll to right himself as he landed right beside his actual commander of the squad.
:: Hey there kiddo, ready to play space dodge ball? :: He asked with a wink from his craft, and hit the stabilizers to float in concord with the line up. His channel was changed to the open broadcast for both the Shadow and Rogue squadron.
:: Goose is ready to fly. :: Gates offered a two fingered salute for those that could see him.
