SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Due to the unique mechanism used in creating the plasma bolt fired by the weapon, it acts more akin to ball lightning by being able to pass through inorganic materials without damaging them.
  • The AI-14 "Breacher" comes equipped with an infrared scope

Strengths:
  • The main design feature of the AI-14 Breacher is its ability to fire a bolt of plasma that can pass through inorganic material such as wood, metals, and rock. This is achieved by a creating an artificial form of ball lightning by superheating small pieces of monocrystalline silicon with the blaster gas Prothium.
  • Because of the nature of the bolt fired from the weapon, the AI-14 has immense stopping power
  • The AI-14 is automatically equipped with an infrared scope to spot targets that might be hiding behind cover.

Weaknesses:
  • Because of the design of the weapon, reloading the AI-14 can take a good deal of time as both clip and gas canister have to be replaced after twenty shots while the power cell has to be replaced after one hundred
  • Because of the complexity of the design and the process of creating the bolt within the weapon, the AI-14 has a low rate of fire
  • Due to it being the quasi-prototype for the design concept, the AI-14 is rather bulky and heavy
  • The infrared scope can be fooled by too much background heat or cold that a target is indistinguishable from the surroundings

DESCRIPTION

A new design concept from Aurora Industries' Weapon Division, the AI-14 "Breacher" Plasma Rifle is a more unique twist on plasma rifles. Making use of the blaster prothium and a modified slugthrower clip filled with rounds of monocrystalline silicon, the AI-14 can fire bolts of plasma that act much akin to the odd phenomenon of ball lightning. It does so by superheating a round of the silicon by using the prothium gas, with a modified XCiter and modified actuating module, to over 3,500 degrees Kelvin and forcing it to sublimate.

The new plasma bolt has the ability to pass through inorganic surfaces such as wood, stone, metals much like ball lightning, all without damaging the material it passed through. When it finally does reach an organic target, the plasma bolt is discharged, releasing heat upwards of 8,000 degrees Kelvin and causing a miniature explosion. The AI-14 has immense stopping power because of this, however, the system is slow to fire and reloading the weapon is a chore once the gas canister and silicon clip are exhausted as both will need to be replaced.

The rifle also comes equipped with an infrared scope to mark targets behind cover, believing they are safe until a plasma bolt comes through the wall they are hiding behind. Despite the flaws of the weapon, as a proof of concept for the Aurora engineers, the AI-14 does its job adequately enough for them to have it sold in limited numbers for the company.
