SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Particle Beam Bolts
  • Incinerator Particles
  • Variable power setting. The user can switch from lethal to less-than-lethal. However, the latter is not a stun setting. Instead it delivers a strong punch, comparable to when someone is literally punched by a heavy fist. This kind of stun weapon may not be legal in certain jurisdictions.
STRENGTHS
  • In addition to packing a powerful punch, the particles cause a burning fire effect in a small area or on the victim. This fire is very localised, but each shot generates a lot of heat.
  • Unlike standard blaster bolts, particle beams explode violently on contact with a solid object when fired. This makes them effective against lightsabre-wielders, since a deflection attempt will cause the beam to explode in a low-yield burst upon contact. Besides, as mentioned above, the glowstick-wielder has to deal with potentially being burnt.
  • Robust and durable. Usable in most environments. An internal insulation protects the firing mechanisms allowing it to function properly when submerged in water, covered in mud, or filled with sand. No doubt it would need to be cleaned and maintained to keep this level of reliability. The Duraplast also protects it against ionic and EMP attacks.
WEAKNESSES
  • The Dallorian Alloy helps, but if the weapon is fired for longer than a minute under three round burst the weapon risks overheating and the barrel melting. This is not a weapon for spray and paint. Tying in with this, the weapon cannot fire at a full-auto rate.
  • Compared to a standard blaster, the Agneya is quite bulky. It is almost double the weight of a T-21 Light Repeating Blaster. A trained soldier can handle it, but two-handed use is advised.
  • Duraplast has been used in the construction of the weapon. But while this protects it against glancing blows from lightsabres, it does not shield against direct hits and sustained contact with them.
DESCRIPTION

In Qadiri mythology, Agneya is a fire deity considered the daughter of Azali, goddess of fire, forging and the desert. Her name has been translated as 'born from fire'. Traditionalist households begin cooking by worshipping Azali. The kitchen stove is lit with prayers to Azali and Agneya, beseeching them to bless the food. Some Azali texts liken her to powerful holy energy, a radiant, brilliant light that matches the sun. There are fire cults devoted to her. The fire brigade of Zeheb prays to her keep the flames away.

The Agneya Particle Blaster was designed as a heavy-hitting, particle beam rifle. The weapon fires coherent particles of energy. As is typical for particle beam weapons, the beam manifests in the form of a yellow bolt and differs from a normal particle bolt emitted from blasters because a particle beam utilises particles that are less densely packed but much more energized, resulting in a bolt that is unstable but very powerful.

This means that it will explode violently on contact with a solid object or energy field. This makes it potent against enemy infantry as well as light vehicles. Moreover, its bolt cannot be deflected by lightsabres. Its stopping power is roughly equivalent to that of the T-21 Light Repeating Blaster, a weapon capable of cutting through armour, breaking down personal shields and even penetrating the armoured plating on many types of light combat vehicles. The Agneya differs from the standard particle beam blaster by taking inspiration from the Incinerator-Class Plasma Railgun. When the containment field explodes, the particles inside the bolt are released.

However, they do not dissipate, but erupt in a small, localised fire. It clings to its victims like incendiary liquids such as napalm, burning for about thirty seconds under optimal conditions. Like the railgun it takes inspiration from, it continues to burn the target after impact. Thus it can cause, small continuous damage as time passes. If they survive the bolt, a victim may be left with nasty third degree burns in the immediate aftermath. However, the splash is small, and it is not an area-of-effect weapon. But lightsabre-wielders should take into account that physics would push the flaming mass forward, which makes trying to intercept the bolt with a weapon an even worse idea than with conventional particle beam blasters.

The weapon is tough and durable, enabling it to be used in various environments. It was meant to give its user a reliable battle rifle even in averse weather conditions. An internal insulation protects the firing mechanism. Duraplast provides a degree of protection against indirect lightsabre strikes and shields electronics against electromagnetic or ionic detonations. Dallorian Alloy mitigates the danger of overheating. However, prolonged firing in burst mode without cooldown will still cause it to overheat. Moreover, the weapon does not have a fully automatic fire mode.
