ADVANCED FEATURES

STRENGTHS
  • Training Simulators - While the entire vessel is dedicated to training crews, officers, and security personnel in a varying degree of scenarios; not every situation can be effectively, or should be, reenacted on an active vessel. Each TC-F5 is equipped with training simulator rooms. These rooms provide hyperrealistic holographic simulations and are capable of holding several squads of students at a single time.
  • Medical Facilities - Each vessel is also equipped with multiple medical facilities to assist in the training of individuals that will be stationed on dedicated Hospital Ships that are often deployed into combat zones alongside fleet formations. These medical facilities contain all the normal surgery suites, bacta tanks, and recovery rooms that are often installed on hospital ships. Students are also further assisted by medical droids during their training period on the vessel.
  • Hangar Capacity - The Aether TC-F5 serves as both a training ship for crew and officers as well as a training ship for those seeking to join a Starfighter Corps or who may be stationed on a Dedicated Carrier. This design has seen an increased expansion to its hangar bays, with the TC-F5 being capable of supporting and carrying up to four squadrons of Aether TC-21 Training Starfighters.

WEAKNESSES
  • Unarmed - The purpose of the TC-F5 is to assist in the training of both officers and crews aboard a star-faring vessel as a means to acclimatize an individual to the day-to-day operations of such a vessel. Its intended purpose and design have required that all weapon systems be removed to make way for the additional space to allow instruction rooms, medical training facilities, and training simulators. Thus, the TC-F5 is wholly unarmed and is otherwise incapable of defending itself in the event of an attack.
  • Structural Weakpoint - Sharing a similar design to the older EF76 Nebulon-B Frigate has resulted in a similar design flaw involving the connector between the main forward section and the aft propulsion system. Highly vulnerable to enemy fire and damage, it has the potential of causing the vessel to be split in two in the event of its destruction. Alternatively, sufficient damage to this section could render movement between the two halves unreliable, or prevent internal movement altogether.
  • Starfighter Support - Due to its status as a training ship and its lack of armament or capability to carry an armed starfighter escort, the TC-F5 often requires additional assistance in the way of an escort. It is highly recommended that the TC-F5 is provided with either a starfighter squadron or corvette escort in the event of an attack even when the vessel is operating within friendly space.

DESCRIPTION
Aether Systems continues to follow in its production line of training vessels with the introduction of the Aether TC-F5 which is intended to fill the role of a training ship. Each vessel is equipped with a series of medical facilities, simulation rooms, and hangar bays, all of which can be utilized in the training of Officers, Enlisted Crew, Pilots, and Medical Personnel who may see service on active military capital ships, dedicated carriers, or hospital ships. Due to its design and classification as a training ship, the Aether TC-F5 does not carry a complement of weaponry and is wholly unarmed - as the room that such systems would have taken up was utilized to provide expanded cargo capacity and hangar capacity. This, coupled with its lack of an armed starfighter squadron, forces the vessel to rely upon an escort for protection. It is thus highly recommended that the Aether TC-F5 be deployed with an appropriate escort even within the boundaries of friendly space to ensure the safety of both instructors and students.

The design of the Aether TC-F5 is based upon the older EF76 Nebulon-B Frigate and shares many similarities including the connection tube between the main forward section of the vessel and the aft propulsion section. In the event of a combat situation, this section becomes a glaring weak point that has the potential to either highly hamper internal movement within the vessel or result in the two halves becoming separated. Further capabilities of the Aether TC-F5 can be seen in the simulation rooms which can provide hyperrealistic holographic training simulations and can accommodate several training squads at a time. These simulation rooms are often utilized to provide a training simulation for an incident that is better not reenacted on an active vessel. Its extensive hangar bays are also capable of supporting up to four squadrons of the Aether TC-21 Training Fighter which are utilized to train pilots both in flight training as well as taking off and landing on a moving carrier.

Continuing in their development of a niche market, Aether Systems has pushed forward the idea that it is better to utilize dedicated training vessels rather than pull active military vessels from their current missions. The Aether TC-F5 is clear evidence of this intention as it can be utilized to train multiple specializations within a fleet without placing students or cadets into direct danger were they placed on an active military vessel before they were ready.
