STRENGTHS

Retractable Bridge Armor - Situated on the port and starboard of the bridge of these craft are large sail-like structures that can be unfurled to provide an additional defensive screen to assist in protecting the bridge.

Interceptor - The Aether NC-Q01 underwent extensive retrofitting and design alterations, resulting in a craft that is known to be a nimble and agile Cruiser both at sublight and light speeds.

Pulse Mass Mines - Included in the armaments are these specialized munitions that emit an effect similar to that of a Gravity Well Projector, first designed and developed by the Hapes Consortium. The importance of these weapons and their abilities has resulted in two such systems that can launch these munitions being installed on these craft.

WEAKNESSES

Long Neck-Like Body - The design of the Aether NC-Q01 retained the aesthetic and form of the original Hapan Nova-class, resulting in these craft inheriting the long neck-like body of its progenitors. This structure separates the bridge from the inverted V-shape structure at the rear of the vessel that houses the bulk of the vessel's weapon systems, its hangar bay, and engine systems. Damage to this section has the potential of splitting the vessel in half or rendering the crew incapable of traversing throughout the craft.

Minimal Defenses - While the design of these craft includes an additional defensive screen to assist in protecting the bridge, these craft are otherwise lightly armored due to the craft favoring speed and maneuverability to overcome an opponent rather than sheer armor.

Light Starfighter Capacity - These craft heavily favor firepower, speed, and maneuverability, and to achieve this standard, these craft have seen a reduction in the hangar capacity of these vessels, with each ship only capable of fielding a single starfighter squadron.

DESCRIPTION

The question has been posed many times throughout the eons - what is the Hapan Battle Dragon without the Hapan Nova Cruiser - and it was this question that saw the rebirth of these famed warships under the Corporate Banner of Aether Systems. The Aether NC-Q01 is the continued answer to that question, serving a similar role to its Hapani progenitors; however, these craft were redesigned and refitted with a focus on firepower, speed, and maneuverability to execute their duty as large-scale support ships. These crafts retain the original design and aesthetics of the Hapan Nova-class Cruisers, including the large sail-like structures located on the port and starboard of the bridge that provide an additional defensive screen to the bridge when fully deployed. Due to the design of these craft focusing on speed and maneuverability, they are lacking in overall defensive capabilities, as heavier armor plating would otherwise slow the vessel, and additional defensive systems would take up the room that has been allocated to the additional maneuvering jets and engines fitted into the Aether NC-Q01. Additional weapon systems further expanded upon the already impressive arsenal and include a duo of Mass Generator Tubes, which had not been present in previous iterations, further reducing the hangar space that the original Hapan Nova-class Battle Cruisers were known to have. Because of this addition, these variants are known to only be capable of deploying a single Starfighter or Bomber Squadron - whereas similar Nova-class Cruisers were known to be capable of carrying up to two squadrons. Furthermore, these variants, due to retaining the overall aesthetic and designs of the original, also retained the long neck-like body - this structure is situated between the bridge and the inverted V-shape structure that houses the bulk of the vessel's primary drive systems, hangar bay, arsenal, and vital systems and sections. Damage to this section can result in the crew having difficulty in traversing the length of the vessel, and in the worst-case scenario, can potentially cause the vessel to be torn in two. When the Aether BD-55 was reintroduced to the Galaxy, it was clear that it would only be a matter of time until its classic support craft was also deployed alongside, and it is the NC-Q01 that has stepped forward to take up its place as a large-scale support craft in these formations. These craft, with increased armament, speed, and maneuverability, prove to be more than capable of providing flanking maneuvers and being rapidly deployed to take stock of a situation as larger warships arrive on the scene. Much like its predecessors, the NC-Q01 excels when deployed in wings in which the craft can cover one another and maneuver to overcome a superior target, hardened position, or star base. The first NC-Q01s have already been produced, quietly rolled off the factory line, and deployed to protect and secure the Corporate Worlds of Aether Systems.
