STRENGTHS
  • Improved Defenses - The Aether ICC-15 was designed to keep both its crew and cargo protected and comes equipped with increased defensive measures to ensure that everything being carried by these craft makes it to their destination unharmed.
  • Single Craft Hangar - Though lacking in hangar capacity, these craft retain enough room to carry a single Aether CM-03 or similarly sized small craft in its hold to assist in recovering floatslam and valuable debris that can be found in space.
  • Plasma Cut Boarding Device - Located toward the front of the vessel in a two-stage airlock system that is equipped with a specialized boarding device. By carefully docking these craft with another vessel's airlock or against its hull by utilizing its tractor beams, the system can then utilize a plasma cutting torch to allow boarding and recovery of any valuable salvage or information on the derelict vessel that is being boarded.
WEAKNESSES
  • Unarmed - Due to the Aether ICC-15 being designated for Civilian use and utilized in the course of ferrying cargo internally within a Star System, these craft come straight from the production line unarmed. These vessels lack any kind of armament or the ability to be armed without heavy second-hand modifications and should not be utilized in a combat capacity.
  • Limited Mobility - As these craft were designed to be utilized in ferrying cargo or boarding derelict vessels for salvage, they were purposely produced with weaker engine systems to reduce their speed and acceleration in an attempt to prevent these vessels from being utilized by Pirates if they were captured or acquired by criminal factions.
  • Unwieldy - The Aether ICC-15 is notoriously difficult to control and was not designed to execute fast-paced or rapid maneuvers. It has been noted that inexperienced pilots often have difficulty in keeping these vessels on track, and are not recommended for first-time ship owners.
DESCRIPTION
The Aether ICC-15 is a semi-compact civilian transport that was designed to carry cargo within a Star System and is comprised of two individual pieces, the upper craft, which contains an air lock, equipment room, corridor, secondary cargo hold, and minor living space and cockpit; and a detachable cargo pod. As its design was intended for the civilian market, these craft are known to be entirely unarmed, lacking any form of offensive weaponry, and are notoriously difficult to modify even for most skilled engineers who attempt to add second-hand modifications to these vessels. Though these craft are small, they are known to have just enough hangar capacity to carry a singular Aether CM-03 or a similarly sized small craft that is utilized to assist in recovering floatslam or valuable debris from salvage floating in space.

In an attempt to mitigate or otherwise prevent their use by criminal elements, the Aether ICC-15 was also designed with underpowered engines, greatly reducing its overall speed and limiting its acceleration. Additionally, these vessels are known to be notoriously difficult to handle or control, with inexperienced pilots often having a rough time keeping these vessels on track - though pilots that have experience and history with these vessels claim to be able to fly anything after taming the ICC-15. Furthermore, though not often deemed as a weakness or necessity, these crafts do not come equipped with a Hyperdrive - another attempt at preventing their use as pirate vessels - and require a carrier to be moved to their intended destination after purchase.

What sets these vessels apart, however, from other light freighters and transports, is the inclusion of a plasma cut boarding device, which is utilized to gain access to derelicts and other abandoned cargo pods. By utilizing the four tractor beams near the airlock, the pilot can attach the ICC-15 to the other vessel's airlock or against its hull, then deploy the boarding device to cut their way in and gain access to the other vessel. This allows these vessels to be utilized in recovering salvage or gaining access to secured areas on a derelict vessel that may have proven difficult to enter with more common means. Though having only currently been utilized within the Ferrix system, the Aether ICC-15 is poised to be distributed throughout the Galaxy and may prove a boon to the salvage and freight industries.
