| DESCRIPTION |
| The Aether GS-02, also known as the Aether Gunstar Model 2, is the continued progression of a production line that began with the Aether Training Craft Military Model 7 (Aether TC-M7) and was designed and produced out of a continued and still growing need that has grown even more dire due to the loss of the Galactic Alliance. With the Coreworlds now in the grip of the Galactic Empire, and Imperialism on the rise, conflict remains the currency of the Galaxy, and Aether Systems once more steps forward to ensure that those fighting for their own future have the means to do just that. The Aether GS-02 continues the legacy that was carried and started by its predecessor, the Aether GS-01. Sharing and retaining many of the design aesthetics and features of its predecessor, the Aether GS-02 remains a heavy platform for skilled pilots and gunners and comes equipped with heavier armaments and increased defensive capabilities. Unfortunately, the GS-02 falls into the same drawbacks, and many of these weapons are not easily aimed or are fixed in specific firing arcs that often require the craft to be aimed directly at a target to bring its full complement of weapons to bear. Further, despite it being larger than its predecessor, the focus and emphasis became providing a sturdy and reliable reconnaissance vessel, with much of the internal capacity being utilized to house advanced Sensor Suites and Scanner Arrays. This means that the GS-02 is incapable of supporting or deploying a singular smaller craft, let alone a squadron of starfighters or support craft. However, much like its predecessor, the Aether GS-02 is noted for being able to achieve increased acceleration at both Sublight and Light speeds and retains much of the agility and maneuverability that made the GS-01 a formidable foe. Further differences between the GS-02 and the GS-01 can be seen in size, as the GS-02 is markedly larger than its predecessor and requires a larger crew that is housed in an internal crew cabin located between the engine nacelles. However, the Pilot and Co-Pilot remain in an enclosed canopy located at the extreme forward of the craft and are easily targeted, as the design was the same for the Aether GS-01. Those who have experience piloting or utilizing the Aether GS-01 will find that the GS-02 is just as easily accessible due to its similar design layout for its cockpit, as well as the simplistic and ergonomic design layout of its crew cabin. The overall design of the Aether GS-02, even with its inherited flaws and drawbacks, still provides a heavy weapons platform that can be easily utilized by any skilled pilot or those who have the proper training. Its inclusion of specialized sensor suits and scanner arrays also makes it reliable at rapidly gathering information that is often just as vital in turning the tides of war as the ample application of firepower. The Aether GS-02 is being introduced to the Galaxy at a time of continued strife, made worse by the recent Planeshift and collapse of the Galactic Alliance. |
